South County Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Co

I hired Michael of South County Carpet Cleaning to clean my living room carpet, and to clean floor tile and grout in a hallway, bathroom and in the kitchen. On June 30, 2017 Mike arrived and cleaned the carpet and then started on the tile., The carpet cleaning went well, however, when cleaning the tile, his tile cleaning machine (Hydroforce SX) left circular black marks on three tiles. He could not explain why this had happened, saying it had never happened before. He attempted to clean them, but could not remove the marks. Mike said he would return shortly after the 4th of July holiday, and would clean the tiles. On about July 11, Mike called, saying he had a cleaner to remove the marks, and he would return to finish thee job. It was July 29 before Mike returned. The cleaner he brought with him did nothing to rectify the situation. He said he would talk to a tile installer about this and would return to either clean the tile or would replace two of the three marked ties with two tiles I had remaining from when the tile had been installed years earlier. Hearing nothing more from Mike, on August 7 I left him a message, stating that if he did not resolve the problem by August 19, I would have to find someone else who would clean or replace the tiles. I heard nothing more from Mike. Mike did a good job cleaning the carpet. If the tile cleaning had been done without incident I would have given him a 5 star rating. I conclusion, I recommend him for carpet cleaning, but if you want him to clean tiles and grout, I advise that you find someone else.

Very well. I was not home when service was performed and came home to what appeared to be a brand new floor. I had the work done to surprise my wife who was away at a conference. We have owned the house for five years and never knew the original color of the tile... Thought the darker gray areas were part of the design. <br />

My experience went very well overall. The staff was friendly and professional. The pricing was reasonable. I was pleased with the work provided. I would highly recommend this company to others.

On March 23rd, South County came to clean some wall-to-call carpeting.  We prepared the rooms (two bedrooms, basement and basement steps) for the cleaning, moving all furniture out of the way so the entire area was available to be cleaned.  S. County (owner/Mike) showed up on time and was very thorough, courteous and professional.  As the carpet was drying, we were keeping our eyes on one spot that at first we thought was still wet, but later it was clear that Mike had missed an area in the center of one of the bedrooms.  The carpeting is white, so it was very noticeable.  We might have let it go if furniture would have covered it, but it didn't.  I contacted Mike with a photo the next evening and he said he would come back and fix that spot.  Well, here we are June 30th, over 3 months later and it hasn't been taken care of.  It has become clear to us that Mike never intended to return.  We were very sympathetic at first; however, it is just too hard to be believe that all of these things (van broken, conflict with his childrens' activities) could have kept him away this long.  We would have continued to be sympathetic to all of the cancellations (and no-shows, by the way), if Mike had been the one calling us.  Unfortunately, we had to be the ones to call, confirm, then call or text to say "why aren't you here?" I waited and waited before entering this review, because I really was hoping that Mike would figure out a way to get over here before now.  Also, never having reviewed on Angie's List, I was worried about any backlash from this company because of the negative review.  We have now given up and will try to clean that spot on our own. <br />

When we made the appointment we were given an approximate price for cleaning.  Mike arrived on time, reviewed what had to be cleaned, saw that they had been vacuumed and told us exactly how much he would charge. The cost was in the range previously quoted.  One room was very stained, but he did an outstanding job in cleaning it.  These rugs had previously been cleaned by a nationwide carpet cleaner and they didn't come out half as good as they look now. Mike was very particular in cleaning the tougher stain areas.   <br /> Can't say enough about how pleased and surprised we were that would look as good as they do.  We will have them cleaned again by South County Carpet and Upholstery. <br />

Overall, I would recommend South County Carpet and Upholstery. When I called, they made an appointment for the next week. They came promptly at the agreed appointment time. They finished sooner than I expected. My carpet looked and smelled great when they were done. The cleaning agents used were non-toxic to children and pets--plus there wasn't an unpleasant "bleachy" smell. Just clean. <br /> They also cleaned my couch, love seat and the cushions. This cleaning was also done efficiently, and without toxic fumes or chemicals. If you're looking for carpet or upholstery cleaning, call South County Carpet and Upholstery. He was accommodating enough in his booking however, when the person came he told me he would vacuum the rugs first then clean. He never vacuumed, it was three rooms and two small hallways that he did and I didn't see any kind of pre treatment before the job. I was ask to look things over the job after it was completed and as you know its hard to tell much from a wet rug. There were noticeable pockets of debris that had not been cleaned and I purchased additional scotch guard protector which he applied with a pump sprayer. That application seemed to be very uneven and left my carpets very sticky. Somehow the scotch guard spray got sprayed all over my bathroom floor and had to wash the floor after he left. The gentleman was polite enough and he did ask me to check the job but two days later when I went back the stains started to pop through. I felt as though I should have been shown what stains he identified, which ones would be problematic and I felt there should have been a little more conversation with the home owner. He also ask me not to wright the check out to the companies name but to write it out to the proprietor. I thought that was a little strange but the price was good. The owner did call me to see if I was satisfied with the job but I have not returned his call. They were right on time and I will not use them again.

They were fine. They came exactly when I wanted them to come.

Mike did a great job and would recommend him without hesitation.   <br /> <br /> After using both Steam cleaning & "Chem-Dry", steam cleaning does require a drying time of approximately 12-24 hrs.  A process like "Chem-Dry" will require much less drying time but isn't as effective at removing stains.  Steam cleaning is also less expensive and a better value. <br /> <br /> Thanks Mike.

They did excellent work for me.  He came for two different problem things.  He told me that for one of my upholstery fabrics that he can’t clean them and he told me that anyone who said they could would be lying.  I appreciated his honesty very much.  I had him come back to do my regular upholstery and carpet.  Since I had a high end fabric, he said the pillow covers could just be taken to the dry cleaner.  He knew the fabric would shrink.  He let me know that some curtains would also shrink and instead just need a good dusting.  He was very upfront.  He didn’t charge me for the materials that couldn’t be clean, but he did clean my carpets.

We had 7 oriental rugs that needed cleaning badly.  There were 2 large rugs, approx 10 x 12 each; 3 rugs were 3 x 5; 2 were runners, approximately 9 x 3 each.  Of those, six were wool; 1 was silk.  Mike answered our call for "help" promptly, thoroughly explained the procedure and costs, including the Scotch-guard treatment to be applied following the cleaning, and we set up an appointment for the rugs to be picked up just a few days later.  Mike confirmed to us on the morning of the pick-up and gave us an approximate time.  We did not really need any help in preparing the rugs to go, except for tying the 2 large rugs.  He told us it might be as long as 2 weeks because of the drying time during a very humid month of July.  He called on a Saturday, 10 or 11 days later, and we set up an appointment for the rugs to be brought to us the following Tuesday.  Again, Mike called that morning and was right on time with his delivery.  The rugs look fantastic!  They honestly look brand-new.  The deep rich colors are back, the stains all came out including a very old coffee stain and one red stain that caught the fringe and turned the white fringe pink!  Needless to say, we are thrilled!  He is very professional, courteous, and a great guy to work with.  We give him 5 stars all the way!

They were helpful on the phone, on time, and did a good job.  Some of the upholstery could not be cleaned, and explained to me why.  They also suggested an alternative way to clean them.

The job was performed excellently.  SCCUC provided great value for the money we paid - the carpets, which had not been cleaned in 5-6 years, were rejuvenated and looked incredible.

Carpets had not been cleaned for 7 years and there was minimal wear as only adults reside in the home. Cleaning took about 2 hours and results were great!! Mike is very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend South Country Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning. And plan to have Mike return to clean basement stairs & basement carpet.

Very responsive to my request for a quote...had my quote within one hour of initial contact and booked the following week. Punctual, pleasant, knowledgeable...and made the carpets and furniture look great once more!! Our carpets are at least 10 years old....with a history of kids, dogs and cats.....and two busy parents working outside of the home....the carpets and furniture gets our well intentioned cleaning....but .....Mike and his assistant came in and within 2 to 3 hours...all was pre-treated, deodorized, cleaned and in the case of furniture...also scotch guarded..... All looks practically new and smells GREAT!!!! Highly recommend!!
