THE process has been TERRIBLE!!! We had a small fire in our kitchen in May of 2023 which resulted in an insurance settlement. Once the payment was received from our insurance company, I submitted an inquiry to Angi on July 5. We began receiving notifications via text message from potential contractors in the following days. We began speaking to TJ (Southern Developments), he came out to view the scope of work and submitted an estimate for us to review (2 estimates received: 1 on 7/7 for granite counter tops and the second on 7/8 for a laminate countertop). After reviewing the other estimates, we awarded the job to TJ on 7/15. Due to our competing schedules, we paid an initial payment of $6199.12 (60%) on 7/25. Via text on 7/31 TJ mentioned a delay to the job start date due to a "all hands" issue with another job site. The work officially began on or around 8/8. The work progressed slowly for the next few weeks. The kitchen was painted and then the floor was done. The painting took several days and the floor was also delayed because it was damaged when it arrived. After the flooring was installed a payment of $3,189.56 (30%) was made on 8/24. After the payment was received, no additional work was done. Many text messages were sent back and forth, a lot of explanation why work has not been completed and promises that our job would take priority (9/6- 18). I received the final text message from the CONtractor on 9/18 stating that the installer will be reaching out soon to discuss his availability. The installer (Jason)reached out but had no idea when he would be available. Final text message sent on 9/22 to TJ the CONtractor and I have not received any response since that time. My daughter went to the stone shop he connected us to on 9/26 and they said they did not have any stone ordered for us and they were not familiar with the CONtractor we hired, and they did not have an employer by the name of Jason working for them.

It was a nightmare. he came out did the measures and gave me a quote of 6914.00. He said he need/required a deposit of half the total cost. I gave him a check on the 14th of july. He was supposed to start on July 17th. He called and said the trailer was load with all the wood and he was waiting on the doors to come in later that day so he would be there the next day. Next day he did not call me or show up. I texted him and he finally responded saying he could not get up with his crew but would definitely be there the next day. Next day the same this went on for almost two weeks. He then started ghosting me I sent multiple text no response. I am not a tech savvy person but he is because the email he sent with cost of supplies and every thing he deleted.it says no document found but I have approximately 35 text I sent him and some sent me in the beginning before taking my money. The job he was suppose to do was rescreen my patio which is large replace my two patio doors, remove and replace all rotten woods and steps, add 2 additional screen doors to patio.

Thought I had a 100% pro deck built but beyond further investigation I noticed my ramp was notched out on one side and the other side was cut flush. Got the owner of the company back out here finally and I was busy with my own work and did not go around to see his work until he was already gone. I will let the pictures do the talking on that one. Also told him to run 1x4 loose to put down used metal roof in same holes but somehow that wasn't possible either. Also was getting an estimate on front porch but thank goodness he never got me the estimate.

The work was good. They did a good job, were excellent to deal with, and were professional, courteous, and polite.

Tyler Did a great job on the flooring installation. He kept in contact and let me know what needed to be done and what he was doing during the process

I’ve used Tyler for general things in my house. From putting up a complex light fixture or chandelier to changing out an electrical plug He’s excellent! Always willing to do anything I need. He does an excellent job and knows what he’s doing. He’s always on time,and very professional. He is my handyman. I would highly recommend him and have told my neighbors about him.
