Its been over a year now since having our system installed by Southern Radon. Previous owner of our home had a system placed before our closing using another company but our numbers remained high. After reading the good reviews on Angies list, decided to call Southern Radon and ask for help. Matt visited with us, brought his detector, was able to target a few hot spots and we worked from there as far as how the system should be set up. Matt was awesome, has an amazing amt of knowlege about radon, asked all the right questions and seemed to be able to easily assess our needs. Over this year we have had many contractors visit, assess and make repairs...Matt stands out above them all. Our system works well and we have had very low readings which are a great relief ....The team that was sent to us to do the work I would rate B...a little sloppy ....didn't cover nearby area to protect or prevent a mess, as i remember some debris shooting out ...onto floor and walls and storage...would have been better if they were proactive and covered the areas that could possibly be affected....

Great job installing radon mitigation system in our newly purchased home. All work was done as promised and the system was installed in an inconspicuous location. There have been no problems, with very little noise from the system that we cannot even hear inside and the radon levels were successfully reduced.
Southern helped me understand the costs and issues for a high Radon reading from a Home Inspection on pending Home Purchase. Reducing the radon rate as well as providing an consistent radon removal were my prime consideration. All my options were explained to me, ensuring my needs were met. His crew was punctual, neat, and professional at all times.
I was unimpressed with some other competitors I talked with, there interest was to give a low bid and gloss over other considerations, so that they could kite the price higher AFTER you had engaged them. Additionally, they reverted to script like scare talking points that I found unhelpful.
Post purchase of the house, I had them come out and give an estimate, they reviewed the plan and helped me understand uncertainties about the conditions under the slab, and options on day of installation.

During installation, there was testing done at each site where a boring was performed. The test gave a sense of how effective the draw of the fan would be and the efficacy of the system. The outside piping system was installed next to the chimmney neatly and as unobtrustively as such an installation could be. The inside piping system was professionally installed around perimeter of basement and one under garage slab. Each bore hole was tested for pressure, and piped over to external pipe. Cracks in slab floor were prepared and caulked with a special caulk. The fuse box was labeled twice where external fan was installed. A test liquid pressure tube is installed where you can manually test fan efficacy and draw was installed. All of this was explained to me again, and I was taught about the system.
A short post test of efficacy showed exceptional lowering of radon from the basement. A longer term test is currently in process.
Post Installation, flawless operation of the fan, pressure draw noted pulling any radon under slap outside of house and away from family. A followup visit to inspect and make sure the installation was done well and educate the client.
I would use them and suggest them to anyone with a problem.

Matt, Eli and the team were great! We had a very difficult situation with multiple pockets of radon and a rate that was tough to tame. They did the initial system, professionally installed it so that it is all but invisible and several days later tested. The test showed the radon was reduced but way above the safe level. Eli came back and installed an adjunct to the system, depressurizing under the garage floor. Again, reduced but not acceptable. Matt then came to the house a few days later, bringing very sophisticated air and soil sampling equipment and uncovered yet another pocket and then within a week had that area addressed. The rate was greatly reduced but still not at the acceptable level. Matt came back and covered our basement with sensitive testing equipment. He discovered another pocket and had Eli come back and depressurize in that area. That did it! We are now literally and figuratively breathing easier!! Southern Radon Reduction was professional, persistent and very understanding of our concerns. He and his crew installed the system that had minimal visibility and maximum effectiveness. HE also stuck to his guarantee. He reduced the radon level to under 2.6 pc/l at the initial agreed upon fee - not a cent more - even though his crew spent many hours over 4-5 days to get it done.

If you're looking for a professional quality radon mitigation company, I couldn't recommend Southern Radon reduction more highly.

Matt was very pleasant and he knows the business extremely well. During his first preliminary visit he even drilled a hole in my garage slab and put the snifter machine tube down it to show how high the radon concentration can get under a slab. Gave him the go ahead and his crew had the garage slab and basement vented in about five hours - very professional and the follow up test came back at .4 -well under the 4.0 federal limit.

They did an outstanding job -- were thorough in explaining the radon system results, as well as performed the necessary checks and maintenance of the radon reduction system. I highly recommended Southern Radon Reduction, and they get the job done right and on time the first time!
Matt Koch is outstanding. His attention to detail to make sure the job gets done according to the need at the best price
possible without sacrificing quality.
The team showed up on time and very polite. Our basement is completely finished which presented many
challenges to them. They worked diligently to complete the job. They were very careful with all out items and
left everything very clean. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.
It was pretty good. The only concerns I had was that they took over a system that somebody else had and I had to push them a little bit to do the right thing in fixing that. Their technical knowledge was good. Once they understood what I wanted them to do and how to do it, they did a good job with the work but it took a couple of phone calls for them to get there.

They worked us in on short notice as we were on a deadline with our house closing. They came out and installed the system in a half a day or so and they had a hard time getting through 3 ft of cement, possibly a former foundation was under ours! They explained exactly how they system worked, did a great a job, the system got the reading down in the 1 range. VERY HAPPY!
Matt did the initial quote and was very helpful, knowledgable, straightforward in what needed to happen. The quote we received was the lowest and we had the most confidence in the process and work that was going to happen. The team that actually performed the work were punctual, clean, and thorough...very professional. They actually finished the work quicker than anticipated. They guaranteed they could get the level below 1.8pCi/L and when we received the test results after the mitigation it was at .5pCi/L. We would happily recommend Southern Radon Reduction!

In very short order, contractor completed on-site survey, developed a system design and provided estimate for system installation. Due to need for immediate system installation, contractor arranged for and completed two day installation as promised. Installation was more complex, took more time than than initially expected due to a thicker concrete slab, more tightly compacted soil, very limited space for system hardware. Regardless, contractor held to his original price estimate. Too, although he could have finished the project in one very long day, he had the crew return a second day -- even though the crew was lined up to begin another job. The contractor wanted the job done right, the completion not rushed by a tired crew -- even if it took a little longer than planned. His crew of three men were professional, polite, on time, worked together as a team. During installation, work areas were protected; cleanup was thorough.
They really took the time to discover the source of the radon issue instead of just deploying technology and crossing their fingers. They guaranteed a reduction to bring it within safe levels, and we were pleasantly surprised when the levels came in substantially lower than the guaranteed amount. We felt the price was extremely reasonable for the quality of work done.
I initially balked when Southern Radon quoted the service but took the time to educate me about the process. I did my research and checked with other Angie's list providers. I asked questions and recognized Southern Radon was correct. Other services will quote based on square footage and general specs but with a finished basement this is difficult to quote as our basement was nearly completely finished. Although this remediation was done to complete the sale of my house I could not simply take the cheap way out. They advised they used high pressure fans, sealed basement seams that were still exposed and placed multiple suction points to insure well below standards results. Upon completion I inspected the property and the install was seamless, clean and very professional.
The estimate visit was informative and specific to my needs. The work crew showed up on time and ready to go. The installation was projected to take a good part of one day, the crew was in around 9:30 and out at 2 with the system complete and the work site clean. Follow up testing showed the radon levels reduced from 4.4 mcl to 1.7 mcl well below the expected reduction. Great job and thank you.
Things went very well. They came out and told me what the problem was, what it would take to fix it and how much it cost. They came back and did it. That's exactly what I want from a company. I was pleased with what they did.
