I had the pleasure of meeting Jim and discuss my issue with my outdated pool pump. He was genuine and politely explained how modern systems work and days before we met, he gave me several instructions on how to solve immedite problems I was having. We had a new pool built by Southland Pools and Spas, several years ago. The pool came out beautifully! We have enjoyed it many months throughout the year. Jim Ferries did a great job directing the installation of the pool . We love the end results! The Baja bench and mosaics are always complimented on. Our grandchildren love to visit and enjoy the pool!!

In late 2022 I started interviewing several pool contractors to build my pool and spa, During this process, I had the pleasure to meet with Jim. The other guys were just okay, but from the very start I sensed that Jim was very experienced and knew what he was talking about! The whole construction project with Jim and his company ran very smoothly - progress dates were kept and the quality of the finished pool, spa and patio was outstanding. We made a few changes mid-stream, but Jim was always right there to fold in the changes and in some cases was able to offer some better suggestions on how best to achieve the look and feel we wanted. Jim and his crew were highly professional, polite and delivered what was promised without any delays. I highly recommend Jim and his company Southland Pools and Spas.

Southland did a great job remodeling our pool. Installed new coping, new tile, new plaster, and an awesome automatic pool cover.

Jim streamlined the whole pool process for us by handling everything from permits, payments, design, deadlines, equipment, expectations, construction and crew. Southland Pool & Spa‘s did a fantastic job on my new pool and spa. Jim stayed in constant communication with his crew and was always on top of the project progress. He is very knowledgeable and offered many great recommendations on the design and features that we should include, and we are so glad we took him up on his suggestions because the pool is absolutely beautiful and very functional.Jim completed the project on time and right on budget. From the initial permitting on through digging, plumbing, electrical, plaster and deck installation, everything ran smoothly. We have now enjoyed three seasons with the pool and our entire family could not be happier! I would highly recommend Jim and his company for any pool or spa needs.

After long process, do to Covid-19 pandemic, we are very pleased with the outcome. It is like a work of art! Very excited to have grandchildren break in the pool this summer.

We researched and contacted about 7 major pool builders in the San Diego area. From among those businesses, Jim was among the most responsive. We were able to schedule our appointment promptly and Jim impressed us with his knowledge about pool building. We wanted a simple rectangular pool to match out midcentury modern house, but our backyard had a large slope. This made it difficult to place the pool in a way where if wouldn't stick above ground at the deep end. Jim from Southland Pools proposed an elegant solution with a raised patio and spa and steps leading down to the pool. In his proposal he also included a retaining wall to match the style of our house. He took care to listen to our vision and worked with us to make adjustments as the construction progressed and we requested changes to the patio layout. Our experience with other builders was that they would not be willing to help us build the patio (only the pool) and none would tell us that our original design didn't work with our landscape. Jim was very polite but also let us know what parts of our vision wouldn't work technically and always offered an alternative solution. In fact, his knowledge of how pools are built was much more useful to us during the planning process than a sales pitch from all the competitors. Jim's offer also was the most competitive, including the patio work and upgrades (i.e., lights, salt, pebble, auto refill). Once our permits were secured (~ 2 months for us in SD County expect costs not included in contract), work progressed rapidly with Jim overseeing each stage in person. Jim's workers and sub-contractors were professional and highly skilled. The quality of work was excellent, and we are very happy with a beautiful new pool matching the mid century modern style of our home.

After meeting with five pool contractors, we chose Southland hands-down. The owner, Jim, truly understood our vision and designed a pool within our budget. No matter which company you decide to handle your project, understand you are at the mercy of their subcontractors. Coming from the landscape industry, I am familiar with how difficult this can become to maintain a completion deadline. Jim provided a relatively seamless transition from one milestone to the next and even finished a week early - this is priceless! He was on-site every single day work was being performed to insure the job was done right the first time with quality being paramount. Honesty, Integrity and Quality - what more could you ask for in a contractor? You get the total package and experience with Southland.

Jim installed a pool heater on my in ground pool. The heater is working and so far I see no problem although it has been only a couple of weeks from the install date. I did pay a bit more due to his experience in being a pool contractor and I think he did a good job. He has checked back with me a couple of times to make sure that everything was working correctly. He is a pleasant and professional man.
