I was quoted $100 to have a short distance of my irrigation ditch opened to clear a clogged section. The area was marked with a painted stake in the grass. I sent Jeremy detailed pictures of the area in question when we discussed the job. The work was to start in two days, but Jeremy asked to go assess first. He began working without notice that evening and continued the next day before we talked again at which point he had done a lot of unauthorized and unnecessary work. My neighbors reported that they also directed Jeremy to the area to dig when they saw him working at the other end. Furthermore, he damaged my sprinkler line and one head, exposed my remaining irrigation pipe, removed a fence section, ran our city water hose overnight creating a muddy mess in the ditch which clogged up the adjacent section further and will spike the water bill. When I addressed the situation as being far from what we discussed to begin with and that he should have told me before doing more work. He stated he believes homeowners do not want to be bothered. I attempted to negotiate a solution without success. He billed us $800. I told Jeremy my husband would be calling to discuss and Jeremy did not answer the call. Jeremy proceeded to send a few harassing texts over the next couple days calling me names, threatening to sue, and suggesting he was hurt on my property. Mechanical Services was informed not to return to my property and I contacted customer solutions team to report my concerns. I received a new quote to dig out the remaining section of pipe for 75-100 USD. I paid Mechanical Services $100 as quoted. I regret this occurred. It caused several days of stress and a need for other solutions. Having received more quotes and contracted the repairs and clean up, I am confident the attempted up-charge for unauthorized work was unreasonable. What we were willing to negotiate would have cost us more. Hopefully, Mechanical Services is not successful practicing like this in the future. I assure community that I would not have contracted an $800 job without a clear scope and written estimate. Beware.
