Stanek Windows

I put $3000 up front at the time of signing the contract. They ended up going out of business and I lost my $3000 deposit.

The Salesman John Gillett was on time,very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and we were happy with his suggestions plus he helped us when no-one from Stanek was returning my calls. Unfortunately he is no longer with the new company or perhaps it is better for him that he isn't!!!!!! <br /> We signed the contract on 9/29/12. Robert Bond came out to take measurements and then Lenny came to make sure they were 100% correct. Lenny and Dave did the installation of the 3 sliders and kitchen window and I can't recommend them highly enough,they were extremely efficient ,very knowledgeable about what and how things needed to be installed,personable,courteous and did an incredible job so we decided that down the line we would replace all other windows as we considered it a great company.Thank you guys. <br /> Unfortunately that was the end of good service.I repeatedly called the company regarding when we could expect installation of the  entrance door and when someone FINALLY got back to me was told that  Stankek had been taken over but that all warranties and work would be taken over by the new company.After many more 'phone calls to them because no-one got back to me the door was finally installed on 1/302013 thank goodness by Lenny again. The glass in the door wasn't what we expected so we told Robert this and we decided on a new glass..........never heard anything back .Called many times and was told that the mail box was not accepting calls,finally left a message with the office and told them to forget about replacement the glass. Never heard from them. <br /> In March the material on the slider handle started peeling off so I called the office and left a message.The following day someone did get back to me but I was out.There was a message with a 'phone number for me to call  back but the number "couldn't be connected as dialled" so called the office and left a message.No response,called Rob,same problem with mailbox,called office again and now in June am still waiting to hear from them. <br /> Stankek used to come highly recommended and they were good until they decided to sell out.After a fantastic start with John and the installers the company seems to be non existant,the office always has the answering machine on and no-one ever gets back to you or if they do they give a 'phone # which isn't available.Hopefully nothing goes wrong with the installation etc.because I'm sure we can't get any service from them.How can we when we can't get in touch with them!!!!! <br />

The ONLY thing we requested on this job was that due to the alarm system having to be dismantled, that the entire job be done all in one week and we did not care when it started, just as long as it was done and completed in one week.  The salesman, John Gillett, assured us that it would not be a problem.  The order was placed on 04/04/12 and they came out on 06/25/12 to do the job.  After starting the job, I was informed that 9 of the windows (approx. 20% error factor) came in the wrong size, knowing that they could not possibly do the job in one week.  However, the 9 windows would be "expediated".  As it turned out, the 9 windows ended up taking longer than the original 10 weeks it took for the entire order. The paint around the windows were quite blotchy, having to be touched up 2 - 3 times.  Two of the three sliding glass doors, the glass had to be replaced (one had a hair between the plates of the glass and the other had a smudge between the plates of glass.)  The locking mechanism in the sliding glass doors has already had to be replaced and several of the french doors (Neuma doors) the locks stick making it almost impossible to open or lock creating a safety hazard.  The shutters for the front doors was ordered incorrectly as as of this day (10 months after placing the order), still have not been delivered.  The company is slow to return phone calls.... taking days to a week to return calls.  I've been promised on numerous occasions that the job would be completed within "3 weeks" and at the end of that time, no phone call from the company and as of this day, 10 months later, the job is still unfinished.  You would think a $86,000 order would mean something to a company, but apparently not Stanek Windows.  I've been promised a call numerous times from Stanek Windows that a representative from Neuma Doors would call about the sticking locks, but that has not happened even.  Overall, poor quality control, poor customer service rates this company a "F". <br />

We just heard about them in radio commercials and their service was good. They did a good job with the replacement of our 9 windows.

Order was placed on 3/7/2011. Work was promised to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks. (No problem by Easter) <br /> After 3 weeks they came and took more measurements and said they would rush the windows. Repeated calls went unanswered and then got response of waiting for the windows. Eventually they had the windows and then went about getting the permit. The permit was rejected needing better documentation. This took 12 days. Then was rejected again needing a engineering seal. This took over a month to resubmit. Each week I was promised installation within the week. Eventually it was submitted and approved. (The permit office turned this around within 1 day each time.) <br /> <br /> I offered many times to cancel the contract if they would refund my deposit. They refused. <br /> <br /> I again had to call multiple times, usually getting voice mail, once they did schedule they called back and delayed again. When the installers came they were good and efficient. They had to leave things for the inspection. This took place the next morning. However again phone calls were not answered and it was an other week before they came back to complete the job. Work was finally done after July 4th.  I then got a follow up letter saying it needed an additional inspection which had already been completed. <br /> <br /> The installers are very good, the window quality is good, however the office could not be much worse. <br />

If you are looking for a superior window, even though expensive, Stanek is the one. However, if you are looking for doors try another company.  I have never had to submit a negative report on a company before and perhaps we were the one customer that fell through the cracks but that is still no excuse for the experience we had.  The entire process began on September 16, 2010 when our order was placed. Our contract stated that delivery was to be in 4-6 weeks. After 8 weeks WE called the company only to be told that our windows had arrived but the doors normally take 3-4 months after the order is placed. Because we were also having a new security system installed the windows and doors were to installed at the same time. So we waited.  Finally on January 31st installation began. We were extremely fortunate to have excellent installers that took their time and did a fantastic job on the windows. Shortly when the installation became we had a spring issue with one of the windows and the next day a service technican arrived to fix the problem and did a great job.  The problems didn't begin until the doors arrived. To make a long story short, we were told countless time that everything was accurate.  Our front door arrived totally incorrect, a flat door instead of a six panel door, a deadbolt for one exterior door was not ordered and the side light windows had no screw covers. The only positive outcome we had with the doors was that one of the installers, Lanie, had prior door installation experience and did a great job. When the front door finally arrived we were assured everything was accurate. The door was correct, the deadbolt was correct and the 3 doors were keyed the same. The installers arrived back at the house only to find that the deadbolt was had an incorrect finish and the front door was keyed totally different that the other doors. (still no screw covers for the front side light windows). From the start to finish WE, as customers, had called the office 10 times. Not once during this entire process did Stanek bother to check-up on our situation. However, on March 16th the office manager, Jeremy, did give us a call to say he would be handling the job. The resolution was to have the service manager come to the house to see what needed to be done. Robert did arrive as scheduled, miraculously with the screw covers, and everything was to be completed the following week. Of course, 2 weeks later WE had to call the office again to see the status of the finalization. We were guaranteed that either the service manager or office manager would be at the house the following week to complete the job.  On April 5th, SEVEN MONTHS since the order was placed a Window Service Specialist arrived and did a good job but not who we were guaranteed.  The ending of the story is our front door is still keyed differently than the other doors, but we do have a antique brass deadbolt.  As stated previously Stanek makes the best windows on the market.  They have excellent window installers and  window service department. However, you have to be prepared to stay on top of the job yourself. 

The installation went very smoothly. From the outset, everyone--salesman, measurement person, and installation specialists-- was extraordinarily proud their product and the finished installation. Everything arrived as scheduled, and the team took the time to complete a quality installation and complete necessary repairs to correct for irregularities in the building. The installation team was meticulous and the results were beyond expectation.

So far so good. We decided to make the first payment so John could submit paperwork to the factory. When the approval from the home owners association came the factory was ready to begin our order. Each window and door is custom made to fit the openings, which you can imagine are anything but identical. John had informed us that once he placed the order, it would be 6-8 weeks. We'd hoped for sooner than later to be ahead of rainy season, but they did arrive at just about 8 weeks. By then daily thunder and lighenting storms were a reality and this did result in the installation taking longer than anticipated. The doors and windows are installed from the outside. In T-storms, the crew had to stop. All of the crew members were very polite and professional and generally took precautions to minimize the mess. I also would come home to find them vacuuming and cleaning up. I was glad to only be home from work the first day as it gave me a headache listening to hammers, breaking glass, saws and watching how difficult it was to remove the old windows and doors. That they seemed to work so patiently in extremely hot and humid conditions, I found amazing! We've owned a number of homes and the one thing that we immeditatlely noticed was the carefully done caulking. They did a fabulous job! Now that the installation is complete, there is no doubt that they are very energy efficient. Although they are much heavier the glide is ever so much better than the builders grade stuff that was replaced. It is also more difficult to see in from the outside, and has made the house quieter as we hear almost no outside noise, except the motorcyle of a neighbor when he comes and goes. Every door and window passed inspection, with several positive comments by the inspector about the workmanship. The electric bills are noticably smaller. Rooms that were too hot to use without turning down the thermostat to keep the A/C running are about as comfortable as the rest of the house without adjusting a thing. We are absolutely thrilled with how the project turned out and we have no doubt whatsoever that we made the right choice in both materials and contractor. Our friends in Temple Terrace used Stanek about 2 years ago and they are known to be quality conscious as well as frugal. They had strongly encouraged us to consider Stanek, as their smaller sized project which they did in stages because of the cost also went extremely smoothly. If we move to another home in FL, we would definitely put this type of project at the top of our list and wouldn't even look at another contractor but Stanek. We bought a lot of peace of mind from future storms. We also were able to get a reduction in our home owners premium.

Some 18 months have passed and we are still delighted with our windows and doors. We chose top of the line hurricane and projectile resistant material. We consider the price fair for the quality, workmanship and installation we received. We have also noticed savings on our electric bill and reduced noise from the outside. The installation team was very professional and dedicated to their job. They left everything clean. The wallpaper and painted surfaces -inside and out -were respected. An inspection was performed by the team leader upon completion. When we called for help on a small problem the company rep came promptly the next day. He also helped us fix a gutter drainage issue unrelated to the windows. Our experience with Stanek has been 100% satisfactory. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Overall the experience was good. We did have a few scheduling problems with some of the work crews but nothing major. THe crews did not work as fast as I would've liked but the quality of their work was excellent.

The sales representative who came to the house was on time; he gave a very informative presentation and gave us an estimate the same day. Once we decided exactly what style and features we wanted for each window and asked the sales rep to come back, he did so right away. Stanek offered reasonable financing that the salesman was able to process on the spot. The windows were installed about 6 weeks from our contract signing/order date. The work crew showed up on time and finished the job all in one day. They were professional and courteous. The finish work was impeccable. Overall it was a positive experience. We noticed the difference right away - - - no outdoor noise! It actually took a lot of getting used to, in a good way! The only drawback to having vinyl windows is that the framing is very thick, which basically shrinks the window - - less glass. These windows were very expensive, although I'm convinced they are the best quality you can buy. Some might say, however, that it's over the top. But, we're very pleased.

They came out and did their measurements and gave me an estimate. I went in to their shop to order the windows which was delivered in 8 days. The windows were pretty expensive but I guess it's because they are hurricane resistant, double plated with gas in between. The salesmen were very professional and the installers did a good job. I was very pleased with their service.

It was a very good experience. They're very professional and do good work. They were very clean. About a year after installation I had to call because one of the windows was difficult to open. They are heavy, heavy windows. They came out immediately and adjusted. I don't have any complaints. I was satisfied with the materials and the people working. I would use them again, but I hope I don't have to.

They did a fantastic job.

They were very professional, they are very responsive if you have any problems and they did a good job. They did do the job wrong at the beginning but they came back and corrected it. I would use them again.

The installers were the two best workers that ever came into our home. They were very cordial, spread drop cloths in every room being worked in and were very knowledgeable about their product and meticulous in the finishing touches both exterior and interior. The patio door is a beautiful sight to behold. At almost 600 pounds and eight feet wide the movable door opens as if it were gliding on air, yet when it is closed it latches like a jail cell door.

They were more expensive than some of the other installers, but the service they gave was excellent and the result of their work was very satisfying. I would recommend them to anyone.

One window had to be adjusted; they responded quickly to fix the problem.

The sales person was on time, professional, personable and answered all my questions. She was honest about the price, followed up after the first visit, was available for other questions until I made my decision to go with them. (The process took about 2 months, because I had several companies give me estimates). The windows were delivered in the time frame quoted, and they allowed me to choose an installation date that was convenient for me. They arrived on time, finished in the promised time frame, and did an outstanding job cleaning up when they were finished. The workmen were professional and pleasant to deal with. They explained everything thoroughly and answered the questions I had.

I believe the product is adequate. Stanek needs to improve upon both the installation of the windows and their servicing of the product. If you do decide to go with Stanek, insist upon a payment arrangement over years to ensure that they do a quality installation job.

They were on time and completed the work in 2 days. They were very professional both in sales and installation.

The workmanship was excellent. One small adjustment had to be made. They responded within hours and effectively solved the very slight adjustment problem. Overall we were very pleased with this company and the crew sthat actualy did the work.
