The install guys were fantastic.  Installed a system without knowing everything from the sales guy, but adapted and completed the install.  They pushed to upsell additional stuff during, but that was ok since it made it better.  <br /> What should have been a one day install, became a 2 day job due to not having the right stuff due to some complexity, but they came back next day to finish.  <br /> <br /> <br />

"Hi Mr. [Member Name Removed], I apologize for any issues this project/install has caused you, even the most expensive receivers will go out every once in a while, also sorry about the misunderstanding on the 8 to 10 days to replace, when we found out on October the 19th on Monday afternoon that the receiver was defective we got an RMA on it, and the manufacturer let us know that it was not in stock locally and that it was also on back order, so we put in a loaner on Friday October the 23rd so your system can continue working properly until the new replacement comes in, the new unit will arrive early this week and we will put in as soon as it arrives, I will call you to make sure you are available, thanks and we will excel on our end when it comes to customer service to make sure you are 100% satisfied."

I am updating my previous review for a couple reasons. The company came back out after reading my review to fix the work that had been started and abandoned by the first techs. The first time techs from this company came out they just seemed like they were really not interested in thinking about ways to make my request happen. I found out that they resigned the day after they were at my house which makes sense why they weren't willing to work to find a solution for me. The first set put a hole in the closet wall but when they couldn't easily get the wire run they simply put the piece of wall back in the hole and said it couldn't be done. A company representative called to inquire about why I left a negative rating I told him all these things and he informed me about the resignation of the men that had been to my house and asked if he could send someone out to make it right. He not only sent two guys who were willing to work to find a solution but also sent a wall patch guy (not sure what the title is). The two new techs did a fantastic job finding a way to get the wiring where it needed to be and getting the speakers set up. They were very friendly; one guy even helped me open a jar of salsa. They were thoughtful by cleaning up after themselves. They were thorough because they didn't stop until the job was done. When they finished the wall patch guy came to do his thing. Our walls are textured and I saw his initial work with a smooth patch and thought it would just be like that but wouldn't be too noticeable. This was wrong; by the time he was done you couldn't even tell a hole had ever been put into the wall. I don't know how he did it but he managed to blend the existing texture perfectly with the new texture he applied. The only thing I had to do was apply some paint. All of these guys did a really great job and I would highly recommend them, especially if you have a tricky project and/or patch work will be needed.

<p>Overall I'm very happy with the products and service.  They had to reschedule a few times but they always called or texted to let me know.  it was only a few days so not like they pushed it out a month but they did push a few times.</p> <p>Once they arrived Edgar spent a lot of time with us talking about what we wanted.  We ended up spending more than we planned but we ended up going with a high end sound bar.  He came for the initial visit and then scheduled the work for the next week.</p> <p>The guys mounted the TV over the fireplace and they added apple tv and a sound bar.  They were able to mount the apple tv and the  ATT cable box behind the tv so we no longer have a stereo cabinet we have to deal with.</p> <p>They did mount the tv too low the first time so the IR receiver was covered but the soundbar so the remote didn't work.  By the time we realized the problem they had already gone but we called them and they came right back and corrected it and remounted everything.  The guys were very friendly and professional. </p> <br />

We recently built a home in Southlake and the home security company that the builder worked with at the time was very unreliable. Even after our neighbor was broken into and stole all the appliances, the vendor was still unable to get the alarm working and we were hit too as a result. 6 weeks after moving in, our alarm is still not working despite repeat trips by the security vendor and multiple times, my family had to leave the house whenever i travel because they do not feel safe.  <br /> We finally got sick of the lack of progress and fired the security vendor. We reached out to our builder for options and they  <br /> recommended a few options and Starlight AV Security being one of them. Lisa Stafford was our contact and she was extremely sensitive to our situation and pulled some strings and was able to bring her security manager, Harris French, to come out and meet us immediately. It was clear that her focus was to ensure we are taken care of and to help us feel safe at home again. She was willing to work with us with various options to either address the installation problems from the previous vendor or to upgrade us to a Honeywell system that can fully integrate with all the existing technology around the house. She was very sensitive to our needs and did not recommend anything excessive. <br /> Now on to the hero of the day - Harris. He personally came out and was able to show us why Starlight is not only an expert in AV but also in security. He was able to salvage the broken contact on our front door that the previous vendor gave up on and secretly replaced it with a wireless unit. Additionally, he repaired all the windows contacts that were incorrectly installed and could have resulted in water leak and mold. Now we are able to sleep in peace again all thanks to the thorough work Harris has done. <br /> At the end of the day, what really sold me on Harris, Lisa and Starlight is not just the quality of their work or their competitive pricing but it's their Integrity and their commitment to do right by their customers. Our family thanks you, Lisa and Harris!

We were moving into a new home in the PH area of Dallas and wanted to get our Media Room, Stereo for House, LED TVs hung and Security Equipment Installed.  I had 7 different AV companies big the project (received 6 quotes, I am sure Royal Home Theater will eventually give me my quote (its only been a month). All of them came and walked the house and listened to our needs.  All but one pull together a proposal for us based on our requirements. The pricing was all over the board, from $15K to $40K for the thing we wanted. <br /> Starlight initially came in on the high side, but we were impressed with their experience and quality of equipment they could offer (many vendors bid Snap AV, which is an installer OEM with cheap quality and high list prices so we eliminated them). We went back and forth and reached a price we could both live with and decided to proceed with them.  <br /> They proposed the following: <br /> Media Room: <br /> -Sony Control 4 Receiver 7.2 <br /> -7 Klipsch 3800R Speakers & 1 Klipsch Subwoofer (they painted the speaker covers to match the room) <br /> -They used my Epson 3020 projector <br /> -Dragonfly 106" screen <br /> -3d Sony Blu-Ray Player <br /> -Integrated my Xbox <br /> -Netgear Wireless Access Point <br /> -SR-250 Remote to control the system (We wanted something smaller) <br /> Whole House: <br /> Marrantz Receiver 7.2 <br /> -6 Sets of Speakers (R350, 250 & 150) in the different rooms <br /> -Sonos Player (love this!) <br /> -Rack System in our Audio Closet <br /> -They also mounted 5 TVs (all 60"+) on all of our walls and worked with ATT to get UVerse working properly (they put in surge protection outlets on all of them) <br /> Security: <br /> Wirepath Infrared Cameras & 2 TB Recorder <br /> It takes about a week to order the equipment in so you need to plan that when you are in this process and expect that you will pay anywhere from 75%-90% of the cost of the equipment when you sign the contract. They ordered the equipment on a Thursday and came to start the job the following Wednesday. Their guys (Adrian was the lead and would recommend him highly) showed up on time, prepared to work. They did have a back order on the speakers so Shane (the owner) actually upgraded our speakers to the 3800 in the media room so we could be done for the weekend. I had wanted to provide my own Projector as had gotten one as a gift from a friend and it turned out that the projector didn't work properly (some gift). They were actually really good about this, most companies would have charged you to come back out and install, but Adrian actually came out on Saturday morning and installed the 3020 for me that I picked up at BB (they offered to give me a loaner as well or sell me one, but  we had planned a movie sleepover for our son in the media room that Saturday night so decided to just get one myself). Adrian spent his Saturday making sure my system was fully operational before Saturday night. The sleepover was a huge hit. They sent their painter over the following week to paint all the speaker covers to match our walls and did an excellent job. <br /> They came back the following Monday to do the whole house installation (they had to cut 6 sets of speakers into the various rooms). This can take a while as the installer had to tone them out (find them).  They installed all of them and put in controllers so we could manage the sound for each room. Highly recommend doing controls like this as you don't want to have to play in every room at the same volume. We had Sonos installed, which I would highly recommend. <br /> They came back the next day and did the Camera System, which we set up so we could watch on our Ipads/iPhones and would recommend that as well. The multiple cameras definitely give good piece of mind. Get the Infrared as it works well. You also want at least a TB HD to record the camera feeds (especially if you have 4 or more camera). <br /> In Summary, I would share that like all projects of this scale there are always going to be small hiccups along them way, but what is most important for me is how they are handled. Shane and his team (Danny -Operations Lead and Adrian -Project Lead) were 100% committed to make sure we were satisfied and did whatever was needed to do so. Whether it was Adrian coming out on his day off or Shane upgrading my speakers because the ones we ordered got backordered, they were professional from start to finish. You can definitely find someone cheaper out there, but what I have learned is you get what you pay for and it we didn't want someone who would nickle & dime us whenever something changed because they have you under contract. They were always fair and worked with us to come up with a good solution. We love our media room and use it almost daily. I was personally surprised how often my family uses the whole home audio (so simple my 11 yr old son controls from his iPad). The security cameras give my wife piece of mind.  They are good people who deliver a quality product at a fair price. <br /> The most telling thing to share is that we are about to put in a pool and will definitely use Shane and his team to do our AV for it as well and would not use them unless we were fully satisfied with their work (you can see from my other reviews when I am not happy with someone).  <br /> Good luck! <br /> <br /> <br />

He was a nice guy, showed up on time, but was not able to help us with the main problem with our home theater. He constantly mentioned how he hated Directv, (which is what we have), and didn't really accomplish what we had wanted. He did sell us a remote that was supposed to be"easy" to program, but is just sitting on the side because we cannot figure it out. <br />

Starlight technician missed first appointment and did not call.  After I called them they claimed it was because the technician was waiting for a part (which was never needed and they charged me for the part as well).  Once the technician arrived, it took him 2 hours longer than he anticipated due to his own negligence.  First he said that he forgot that he was going to convert the existing cat5e telephone to data, thus he did not have proper amount of keystones.  So this was never completed.  Secondly, they charged and installed a new network switch which was not needed as I had an extra one which the technician saw.  Then was he "completed" his work and was ready to leave, I asked him about a connection to the router, which he did not check and this took him another hour to "fix", which I had to pay for.  During this time he disconnected a hardwire solution that I had from the router to the computer, then tried to fix that, could not, and left the original ethernet jack dangling from the wall and an explanation that he really does know what he is doing but can't quite figure this out!  At this point he was complaining about being late to his next appointment and then told me to just use the wireless feature on my computer since he couldn't figure out what was going on.  I can't believe how incompetent the technician Jeremy was, and no one from Starlight followed up after the work, and I never received a follow up call regarding the purchase and installation of the speakers, probably because they knew they did bad work and did not want to fix their problems!  For a company that has several great reviews on Angies, I was very surprised.  Needless to say I ended up hiring another contractor and spent good money with them that Starlight could have earned. <br />
