The experience was good. They worked very hard, aimed to please and got the job done the way I wanted it to get done. The deck was 11 years old so it was a bit challenging, but they did a great job.

He was great. He came when he said and did what he said. He kept everything clean and did a good job.

Second time I've used Stohl. Project went well. Finished on time in 2 1/2 days. Very picky about his work. If you want the equivelant of a $69 car paint job call someone else. If you want quality, reliability, and a clean house, call him.

We had used Stohl's previously and contacted them on very short notice. Nathan worked us in to accommodate our need to complete renovations prior to the arrival of a houseguest. He did an excellent job that included recaulking of a previously installed bathroom sink as well as multiple coats to cover previous deep wall colors.

Very nice job. Very professional. The only thing was they didnt do was fill in the little imperfections in the wood so that after it was painted, little spaces are apparent. I think this is pretty minor, compared to what they did overall. I would use them again.

Stohl Painting was excellent. Nathan and crew were extremely careful, very detailed oriented , and took much pride in their work. They did extensive prep work to the walls and ceilings of our home which had not been repainted since the orginal construction in 1997. They repaired nail pops, cracks, etc. and smoothed the walls prior to applying paint. They were very thorough in covering floors, furniture, light fixtures, etc.and vacuumed, dusted, etc. after painting was completed. Our home has 19' ceilings in the great room that includes an open staircase. This presented no problem as they were able to safely utilize ladders, etc. and avoided having to assemble scaffolding. I am very pleased with the quality of paint used, it is very washable and looks great. Our deck railing looks outstanding. Nathan chose to use a colored stain over an oil based primer and the color match to our home was exact. We were so pleased with how this deck turned out that we have asked Nathan and crew to return this spring to repair and repaint our entire front porch railing and column system. A job this large will have the occsional missed area or repair that was not noticeable during the day but became visible at night. Stohl Painting immediately corrected any areas that were less than perfect that either we found or they observed when they would inspect the previous day's painting. This was a big job. Nathan had originally estimated seven days of work with a full crew, we added items after they started, the railings were delayed numerous times due to rain, etc, and we then decided to repaint a downstairs stairwell and attached large gameroom, which added another three days. In total, the painting job took almost a month to complete, with at least one person and usually two or three of his crew here daily. But my husband and I could not have possibly done all this painting ourselves without it taking months and we certainly would not have produced the quality finish Stohl Painting provided.

Excellent!! Nathan was quick to set up the appointment to provide an estimate. He was on time and very knowledgable. His questions were thougthful and insightful. He clearly stated and then quoted what work he would perfom. He explained the types of nap he could use and the paint surface it would yeild. He also explained why certain types of nap would take longer to paint but provide a much better look. Then he allowed me to choose. Nathan's quote was in the middle of my three quotes. He honored his angie's list coupon which brought the quote to within $300 of my lowest quote. I was also pleasantly surprised, Nathan provided his estimate on the spot. No waiting like with the other vendors. Nathan just came off as the best option for me. He was well worth it. The place looks great and Nathan went well above the wall prep work he quoted at no extra cost. I mention the latter because he thought it would take 4 days to complete the job. It took 5 and this was due to the extra work he performed prepping the place. All in all he did a great job and was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Sthol painting.

I scheduled this job from out of town. My brother supervised the work. I don't know the final cost, but the labor was about $7000. The painter bought the supplies and we reimbursed him - believe that was about $1000. The painted understood that we were converting this house to a rental. He had good advise about what to paint, and what wasn't necessary. He seemed very committed to doing a good job and having the finished project one he was proud of.

I left a message for Nathan Stohl (owner) to call me back about giving me a quote for painting my kitchen including cabinets. Nathan was prompt in his call back & setting up a time to come out and give me a quote. He was on time and was able to give me a quote on the spot and I didn't have to wait for an e-mail. I expressed that I wanted the cabinets and woodwork painted in oil paint and he was in agreement and said he has painted cabinets in oil many times. He was very knowledgeable in the techniques used and the latest products on the market. Nathan and his partner,Russ, were always on time, courteous and trustworthy. Many days I had to leave for work before they were finished for the day and trusted them to lock up before they left. Nathan and Russ put in long days painting and continued through the weekend until my kitchen was finished. They were very neat and clean and disposed of all the paint and supplies properly. My kitchen is finished and it looks gorgeous. I couldn't have asked for more. I will definitely recommend Stohl Painting to my friends.

What a pleasure! I originally selected Stohl Painting because they provided the lowest quote of the four that I received. Once they started the job it became apparent that their value was much more than just price. The quality of their work was outstanding and they were prompt and courteous throughout the job. Nathan Stohl is a perfectionist who takes great pride in his work. This pride actually led him to paint additional items such as window sills which were not part of the contract ? just because it made his work look better. I highly recommend Stohl Painting to anyone looking for high quality at a reasonable price.

Nathan and Steve did a beautiful job; it turned out much better than I had dared to hope. The interior of the apartment was pretty beat up and required lots of prep work. They had to remove tape residue from window casings, smooth out chipped trim, repair cracked plaster, etc. This project took several days and they were very good about leaving the place clean at the end of each day. I had a lot of material for other projects on site and they covered it up and worked around it without a problem. Very professional and very pleasant to work with.

Very neat and professional. Nathan applied some high tech custom paint (granite paint) and it turned out very well. When I hired him for a subsequent (3rd) job he never showed up or called. I didn't get my keys back either. It's a rental, so the locks were changed anyway. He was probably just too busy.

When I had engaged Nathan (owner) for some interior work about a year ago (reported favorably in another List entry), I asked him for an estimate to paint the exterior of my home. He said it wasn't really in need of a paint job yet... just a power wash would be adequate. (HOW often does a contractor tell you that you need LESS, not more? Excellent!). This was about a year later, and he came over on the Wednesday after the Friday of my first call. He and his assistant had professional power washing equipment, took care in preparing the job and laying out the equipment, and then did an excellent job. House looks as if it has been freshly painted. He honored the rate he had given a year earlier with just a 3% inflation (he did not reflect the fact that a year more of degradation had occurred.) He did indicate, since last year, a couple of areas that now needed painted and indicated that he would come back to do those small areas separately. Cleanup was thorough, and the job is wonderful.

Great painter, very pleasant, high quality work, on time, finished a head of schedule, gave us extra service and has a fair price. Best in Anne Arbor.

They did an excellent job. They were very personable, moved furniture, covered the floor with drop cloths as needed, cleaned up. We were very pleased and would definitely use Nathan again.

They are neat and they clean up after themselves. They covered all the furniture and carpet so there would not be any spots. I have told several of my friends about them already. They did an excellent job.

Nathan did an excellent job. He is a custom painter. I have received many compliments on the job he did. The job took longer than he estimated. Nathan is flexible,professional and trustworthy.

Upon a phone call, Nathan came that day and performed an estimate, preparing a written report during his visit. We scheduled the work to be done, and he came and personally performed it, moving the furniture out of the way or covering things as needed (we did not need to move ANYTHING!). The work was performed over two days, superbly, and he replaced the furniture upon completion.

THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB. THEY WERE VERY RESPECTFUL IN OUR HOME. THEY WORKED QUICKLY, BUT VERY CAREFULLY. I THOUGHT THAT THE PRICE WAS REALLY GOOD. THEY CAME ON TIME TOO.
