Stoney Brook LLC (Mr. Mohamed) was hired on July 18, 2023 to put build an extension to our property that will include a new kitchen and bathroom. The contract also included building a new screened-in porch and renovating an existing bathroom. We immediately gave Mr. Mohamed $26,000 dep in July 2023. He renovated the bathroom and demolished the old porch pretty soon after agreeing on the contract and deposit was made. However, the construction of the new addition did not begin until late October 2023. From the beginning we've had issues with Mr. Mohamed. He initially went against the Engineer's plan when building the new addition for the kitchen and the porch. We pushed back and he later fixed it. However, the porch he did not fix. We proceeded to give him more money in November 2023, after framing was finished which was in mid-November of 2023, including a deposit of $7200 additional for installation of exterior siding to the entire house. The quote was for $13,300. After Mr. Mohamed received the deposit for the siding and additional monies for the renovation, he did not return to the property for approximately four weeks. When we questioned him, he will tell us that he was on his way, however in reality he wasn't showing up. In the meantime, the porch ceiling was leaking which we had discussed with Mr. Mohamed. Mr. Mohamed knew that we lived far away and that it wasn't easy for us to get there during the week due to work. We would typically go on Saturdays to look at the progress and the work. Finally, after 4 weeks the work resumed, however it was not consistent. Work would be done sporadically. By end of December, we’ve already paid Mr. Mohamed a total of $73,000, including the siding deposit. At the end of December, we asked Mr. Mohamed when will siding work begin since we had given him $7200 dep in November 2023 and the new extension/addition was left exposed with no wrapping in the exterior. He never delivered the siding and kept giving us excuses. We were told by Mr. Mohamed that new sheathing can be left exposed to the elements for up to 8 months with no problem. Additionally, the basement access door was never delivered or installed during that same period of time. Mr. Mohamed would continue to ask for money the entire time although a significant portion of the work was not completed telling us that he had to make payroll and that he would not be able to work further if he couldn’t pay his employees. Mr. Mohamed attempted to fix the leaking roof several times but he couldn't figure out why it was leaking and so it continued to leak into the porch and into the interior room adjacent to the porch (Den) for several months resulting in damages to the ceiling. Mr. Mohamed gave up and left it leaking without at minimum tarping the roof to prevent water from coming in. In late January 2024, work on the exterior siding began while the basement access door and part of the plumbing, electrical, heating were not complete and the roof continued to leak. By this time, we had already paid him all of the money, $83,190. We met Mr. Mohamed on 2/14/24 to discuss the siding installed on one side of the house which was very poorly installed. Mr. Mohamed refuse to even listen to us and proceeded to leave and told us that he would not return and that we would tell it to the judge. Since then, we have not heard rom Mr. Mohamed. We were left with no other choice but to hire other professionals to complete the work that was left unfinished. As of today, we have paid a total of $21,825, with approximate $3,700 of additional work left to complete.
