A complete and utter nightmare!! Every single aspect of our bathroom renovation was substandard and unfinished. It was so poorly done that we had to hire reputable contractors to redo all Mr. Palumbo’s work. We employed a master electrician to rectify all wiring Mr. Palumbo did which was all out of code. We will have to hire another contractor to rip out all floor tiles and glass block window. I spent an entire week chipping out large chunks of grout in the shower. We were left with an unfinished bathroom and 2 cracked windows with the outside of the window frame being open to the elements. He and his workers disrespected our house in every way and left it in such a mess that we still cannot get all the residue from the work he did from our driveway, porch and garage. I have to repaint my front door because of the mess that was left behind. The contract was signed on March 28, 2017 “with all processes being completed on or about 2 weeks later.” Work was to begin the end of April. He showed up May 8, 2017 to begin the renovation. He and his assistants worked on and off through May and June. On June 30th he asked for more money and we reminded him we had already paid him 95% of the total price. On July 6th, I contacted Mr. Palumbo and asked when he would be returning and he stated in a text that he had started another job. We have not seen him since June 30th. In addition to not finishing the bathroom, he was supposed to have installed a beam and brace in the basement. This was not even started and of course already paid for. We were fools to have paid him so much in advance. We paid him for all materials by 5/12/2017 only for him to ask for more money. When I asked him why, he said he didn't have the funds which means he was spending our money on other projects. Mr. Palumbo told me he would have to change his name from Stoney Creek Development to LED Solutions Pro/LED Construction because the person before us was suing him and now they wouldn’t be able to get to him. See review on Angie’s List dated 10/17/2017. I want to warn others of the absolute shoddy and dangerous work he does. He hires inexperienced workers off the street, brings them to the house, tells them what to do and then leaves. Many a morning was spent tearing things apart from the day before. The contractors that have come to help us repair and replace are aghast at his incompetent work and believe he needs to lose his license and be taken off the street. We are just sick about being scammed and just hope to save the next person from believing his lies. Please reference the reviews on Angie’s List, Home Advisor, Google and Houzz for similar stories. ELECTRICAL: The worst of all and most dangerous! ALL wiring was not grounded and there were hot wires exposed below the caps then tucked inside the walls. (We were told an inspection was not necessary for a bathroom reno.) STRUCTURAL: Walls were knocked down to create a walk in closet and walls built out to create a water closet. Everything he built was out of square which unfortunately we are going to have to live with. Just for the record, the walls that were off were the walls he built himself. The crown molding was incorrectly secured to the new cabinets. There were several attempts to make holes in the back of the new cabinets for plumbing. The barn door for the water closet was hung crooked. Ceiling below the bathroom was damaged when it was stepped on resulting in a crack that has to be repaired. There were no face plates put on the cabinets. Glass block installed in window area with uneven grout. Glass block window is bowed and sagging in the middle. The job was left with 2 cracked window blocks and the outside left open to the elements. Shower wall under the window also bowed. WALLS: Every seam was so poorly “mudded”. To compound the horrible job, Mr. Palumbo painted over it. There were gouges in the walls that were never filled in and grout chunks on the wall also painted over. There was gray paint all over the ceiling. The walk in closet was never painted. TILE WORK: Horrible!! The floor is so uneven that there are sharp points of the basket weave tiles sticking up so if you are barefoot it would be possible to cut your foot. When grouting the shower there were no drop cloths put down. When pieces of grout fell to the floor, it was stepped on and ground into the textured tiles. There was so much tile breakage we were sent to buy more. As it turned out, they were a different color and installed anyway. There is a tile under the toilet that “popped up” when the toilet was being tightened to the floor. No effort was made to fix it. Grout all over the walls from putting in the base board molding. No tile face place under the vanity. Granite vanity installed at an angle. No caulking on vanity. Different color tiles installed around window. Shower not caulked properly. 1st shower taken, there was water all over the floor. PLUMBING: Shower not functioning properly. When the shower mechanism was opened up we found a 3 function valve was installed instead of a 6 function valve. We found dried grout all over the inside mechanism. Toilet water supply line abuts the wall.

Building errors made by Mr. Palumbo and workers include electrical, structural, plumbing, painting, dry wall, floor,, door, cabinet, and siding errors, Some work was charged for but not done. Included here are only 2 of several reports: an electrician's report who repaired the hazardous electrical errors made by Mr. Palumbo, and a not yet complete report from the deck builders who tore down Mr. Palumbo's deck and are building a new one. 10 of many pictures are provided. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS: BASEMENT AND SERVICE PANEL: Panel replaced but no ground rods installed to properly ground service. Air handler had wire passing through hole in unit with outer sheathing of wire entering into the unit and stopped 4 inches from the internal connection. (No connector used) Inverter for German appliance was taken apart and connections made outside of face plate of inverter. No connector, No cover, No strapping of wire as well as too much outer sheathing missing. Wires not properly stapled or strapped in basement area. Water heater wiring not updated when plumbing done. Under-sized and under-fused Panel had nicked wires, too much insulation, wires not properly fused, loose connections on neutrals and breakers, no proper connectors, inadequate insulation on wires, no grounding means installed. No service outlet installed for units when panel replaced. Wire for foundation fans not GFCI protected or a single outlet for a dedicated circuit. CORRECTIONS - Basement Ground rods driven and service properly bonded. Air handler now has proper connector and proper sheathing depth to connector in unit. Inverter now has proper connector, cover and strapping to face of unit. All wiring now properly stapled, strapped, etc. Water heater updated to proper wire size and breaker fuse. (10awg with a 30 amp breaker) Panel redone by fixing sheathing distance in and out, all loose connections tightened, proper fuse of breakers on branch circuits, nicked wires replaced and fixed as well as proper connectors used. Service outlet installed for units as well as adequate lighting. Nicked wire above panel junctioned and replaced. Fan circuit removed as well as fans to introduce new dehumidifier. A 12 awg feed from panel on a 30 amp double pole breaker-240 volts had been cut at wall and wire nutted back together-now completely eliminated- This was a MAJOR fire hazard. Ran new wire to have outlet towards drive to be GFCI protected.-Was powered by 2 single strand conductors. Wire that was nicked above panel replaced with new wire. KITCHEN SINK WALL: Outlets not GFCI protected: no dedicated circuit. Dishwasher not hooked up properly: No connector used. Wires stripped too far back-copper exposed to metal casing- Fire Hazard-not on a dedicated circuit Disposal under sink had no junction cover installed, no connector for wire, wire nuts not tight-loose connections and did not have its own circuit. Outlets on sink wall and dishwasher, disposal, and towel bar all connected on same circuit-a 15 amp circuit. All 3 need their own circuits-20 amp circuits in kitchen especially KITCHEN STOVE WALL: Outlets, Microwave, Refrigerator and lights all on same circuit. Microwave had no dedicated feed from panel. Refrigerator had no dedicated feed from panel. Outlets did had no dedicated feed from panel and not GFCI protected. CORRECTIONS: Kitchen Sink Wall and Kitchen Stove Wall-ran a new dedicated feed for the outlets and installed GFCI for protection of downstream outlets. Ran new circuits for Dishwasher and Disposal to make dedicated to themselves and installed proper connectors with wiring and proper wire nuts that are tight. Also installed junction cover on disposal. Utilized old circuit for towel bar in bathroom-it now has its own dedicated circuit. Re-worked circuitry to make refrigerator has its own dedicated circuit. Ran a new circuit for microwave to be dedicated to itself. Utilized existing circuit for outlets on range wall and installed GFCI to protect other outlets downstream. BATHROOM: No grounds installed on switches and ventilation fan not ducted to outside of the house. REPAIRS:-Bathroom Switches now properly grounded and fan now ducted to gable vent on rear of house. SUNROOM: FIRE HAZARD- No outlets or switches grounded and NO box extensions used against combatable material tongue and groove walls. 7 of 10 outlets had loose connections, broke connections or too much copper exposed on current carrying conductors. FIRE HAZARD- Switches in Sun room not grounded-cut-off grounds in select cables, loose connections and one box had nicks in two of current carrying conductors which look shorted out prior to switch install and not properly fixed. One of two conductors almost burnt in half and broke when moved. CORRECTIONS: Sunroom-All outlets disassembled and put back with proper connections, box extensions where needed, grounded appropriately and trimmed outer sheathing on cable where there was too much in select boxes. All sun room switches now grounded properly and wires properly fixed to omit serious Fire Hazard. FAMILY ROOM: Outlet close to wood stove had BX armored cable put into a plastic remodel box with Romex. There was neither a proper ground nor a proper termination point for piece of BX. Outlet furthest from woodstove installed in metal box not rated to incorporate a device as well and not grounded properly. CORRECTIONS: Family Room-The BX in the outlet closest to the wood stove is now properly junctioned in basement with a metal box, properly grounded as a transition to Romex. Remodel box was re-installed to proper termination. The box in the outlet furthest from the woodstove was replaced to proper sizing and re-installed as well as proper terminations for grounding. PORCH AND DECK AREA: Boxes not properly grounded, not properly sealed, proper connectors not used. Exposed wires had numerous nicks, cuts and abrasions and too many wires entered a single entry point of box. Both switch boxes were this way. Outlet beside sliding door on deck had no proper in-use covers nor did outlets under bench area. Outlet beside sliding door not GFCI protected for wet location. CORRECTIONS: Porch and Deck area-Deck now redone to incorporate proper fittings, proper box fill of conductors, Re-sealed as well as properly grounded for devices in a wet location application. Proper covers installed and outlet at sliding door is now GFCI protected. DECK ERRORS: Deck built with seam down middle. Boards should be staggered or meet at a decorative perpendicular board. Electrical had to be rewired for non-waterproof boxes. Toe nailing too low-barely caught any wood. Mr. Palumbo used non-galvanaized nails, which rusted, and poor quality boards. Posts were 2x4s on angle--should have been 4x4 posts. Corners should have been square and supports fastened together. After seating removed, seat supports simply came loose-new deck builders did not need to use a hammer. Boards were not at a 90 degree angle. One carriage bolt used was pointless since joist not properly secured. Boards should have been bolted, not nailed. Better, one solid beam should have been used. Nails used had already rusted. Carriage bolts were only finger-tight--did not need a socket to be loosened. A number of screws too close to the end of the deck boards-boards pulled away from screws. Screw were left holding nothing in these places. Lack of support under center beam. Only 1 support under center existed. New deck builders will put 4 under new deck. No hanger or tie where joists were sistered. Joists were irregularly spaced. Insufficient overlap for outside band which supported side and bench of deck. Joist hangers should have been nailed straight in, not angled. One joist just fell out when other end was released. More irregular spacing and lack of joist tie on two joists. Joists should have been carriage bolted-were not. Joists without securing ties/hangers on each end simply lifted out. Side of deck supported by unsecured 2x4s. Main support post on side of deck near house was loose. Outside boards by house were not held together safely-needed to be a single longer joist. Underdeck support center beam just rested on ground. One post was unsecu

It was substandard.  I had to hire another contractor to move a cabinet so the doors could be opened, remove island and redo all electrical installations.  I still have 25 paint smudges on ceiling.  No silicone caulking was done between back splash and granite and it is now chipping and looks bad.  Electrical could have caused a house fire. <br />

"This Lady is a nut job she hires me to remove three cabinets form a wall to open to living room and use the cabinets for an island completed all the work and customer was happy. After a month she decided to remove the island and put her table back in kitchen and I told her I would be happy to do so but she would have to pay and she did not like this she felt she could make up some story about the island and I should pay to remove it. I don't work that way she was happy when we left the job we evan did additional work installing light kit on all her fans. She is not stable person to make the kind of claims against me and give me a bad rating. I would not recommend any contractor work for her."

The piping under our sink had been leaking for some time before we bought the home, and the previous owners had covered it up with a ?false floor? and tiles to hide the damage.  We contacted Mr. Palumb and he came over and gave us an estimate to repair the damage. We decided to go ahead and re model the kitchen, since the repair work was going to be extensive.   We trusted Mr. Palumb and were happy with the price and his suggestions.  Mr. Palumb finished up the work in a month and informed us that if anything were wrong with the work, that he would come back and fix it.  He said to make a list, which he referred to as a ?punch list.? We were happy that the kitchen was done and the nightmare plumbing issue and water damage were resolved.  After the work was completed, we began noticing a couple of flaws in the kitchen. We also noticed that in the sun room behind the kitchen, there was exposed piping; Mr. Palumb had removed the wall outside to gain access to the piping, but did not cover it.  Additionally, debris and a large segment of drywall were left in our sun room.  After contacting Mr. Palumb about these issues, he gave us a date that he would come back and fix the kitchen.  My husband took a day of leave for this project, and Mr. Palumb did not show up.  We called him again and scheduled another day for the project, with myself taking time off from work.  When he arrived, he fixed what needed to be fixed, which we were generally happy about it. When I asked about the exposed piping, he said that he would have to buy a whole roll of insulation for just a tiny piece, so it would be better if we did it ourselves.  He also cut a hole in the drywall to place a shut off valve for the outdoor pipe.  He told us we could put a panel over the hole to gain access to the shut off valve.  Unfortunately, the hole was too big for any panels found at the store and required a drywall patch job and re-cutting of the drywall to fit the panel, which we had to fix ourselves.  Mr. Palumb also left a mess in our sun room, which included a large amount of sawdust, nails on the floor, building debris, and dried caulking on the brick floor.  Today we discovered some leaking under the sink.  When we investigated the leak, we discovered that the pipe Mr. Palumb installed had a crack!  We are now cleaning up the area and figuring out how to repair the damage0 <br /> Image of the pipe that was used after the installation of new sink in kitchen. New leak started in gaps in the pipe. <br />

I worked extensively with Tom Palumbo and his crew and was extremely happy with the outcome. He worked within my tight budget to find materials that were very inexpensive but did not sacrifice the quality or appearance of the end product. I had quoted several other contractors that would either quote a much lower quality end product or a quality product that was way out of my price range. Tom's workers were very respectful and I felt very comfortable having them in my home throughout the entire project. The team customized the design to some of the unique nuances of my home with little to no impact on the budget and when I had some changes and that I felt needed to be addressed to make the design work better for my specific needs, the team was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure I was completely happy before the completed the work. Tom has very helpful with suggestions and thoughts for projects throughout my home which would maximize rentability and resale without over selling me on things that were unnecessary. I highly recommend Stoney Creek to anyone and I plan to use them again when I have jobs come up in the future. <br />

<p>Overall, I was satisfied with the work.  The crew were great about cleaning behind themselves.  They were polite and very respectful of our home.  The entire project took about a month longer than we anticipated but some of that was justified because  the contractor had been ill.  When he was feeling better it started to move along a little faster.  I want to say that I am thrilled with the end project in the kitchen.  It is exactly what I wanted.  The bathroom less so, but overall I am satisfied.  The quality of the work was great!</p> <p>The areas I gave a B rating were punctuality and professionalism.  My reason for the punctuality is the fact that the crew would show up usually anywhere from about 9:30 to 10:00 AM.  Then they usually left about 4:00 PM, sometimes a little later, sometimes earlier.  My point is I never knew exactly when to expect them unless I specifically asked.  </p> <p>Professionalism was graded a B -   When we started this project I was asked to sign an agreement/contract with Mr Palumbo that obligated us to the project through completion, including the schedule of our payments to him.  In turn, he gave me a spreadsheet that he said would be kept updated and be a 'living document' throughout the process that would keep us both honest.  I thought this was a great idea.  The original spreadsheet was the estimate of what he thought the project would cost breaking it down into two areas, one for the kitchen and another for the bathroom.  What I understood and expected was that the spreadsheet  estimate figures would be replaced by the actual costs.  The end spreadsheet I received was just like the beginning one. It still had items on it that he did not do and did not include some things he did.   The end project came in about $5000 over the estimate.  Some of this was due to changes we made and some were necessitated by things that come up when you remodel and old house.  Maybe this all worked out in the end, but the point is without the actual costs on that living spreadsheet, I really don't know,</p> <p>Also, I want to reiterate that I would most definitely us Tom Palumbo again for a remodel project.  He designed a beautiful kitchen for me.  I think that may be his specialty!  The bathroom is beautiful too but the kitchen is my dream one!  This is what he promised and I think he delivered.  </p> <br />

"This customer has no compassion for someone who has been though what I have been though. I steped on a nail and wound up in the hospital for a week after surgery then was put on I V antibiotics for 6 weeks, then my work truck was stolen form a job, then I totaled my car on my was to her house to do the punch list of which none of it was on the original contract they added later. I don't think its fair that she gave me a D considering she was very happy wen we finished. She gives me a D because I could not get there quick enough to fix the light kits on her ceiling fans."

During coldest week, pipe burst in the back wall of my house. Mr. Palumbo raced to my house, turned off main water supply (from under manhole cover in sidewalk), replaced frozen/burst pipes, tore up damaged floor to allow for drying, met with the insurance adjustor, replaced back wall of vinyl siding, and installed new ceramic tile to kitchen/den floor.  Homeowner's insurance paid for about 1/2 of the damages. Work was done quickly and professionally, and fixed just in time for the next "deep freeze".  Everything looks perfect!

In short....very satisfied. <br /> <br />  In  late November, we purchased a house  which we absolutely loved from every angle but the most important part of the house( the kitchen) was quite dated and the hard wood floor had sun damage. Floor had contrasting color in areas covered by rugs and exposed to sun. We decided to get both these things done before we move in between Christmas and new year in so,  we contacted various contractors who were recommended to us. They all came, looked at  the project / projects, promised to send a quote in 5-7 days and then just disappeared on us leaving us waiting to hear from them. Soon we realized that it was hoilday season.... and it will be hard find some one to do it. In the meantime my friend recommended Tom Pulambo, who had done her bathroom and kitchen and she was very happy with it. I could certainly trust  her as she is quite a detail oriented person.  <br /> <br /> Now, as soon as I could reach Tom( yes his answering machine was full at that time) he quickly scheduled a visit for very next day. As he walks in...he started to suggest what all  needs to be done and what should not  be touched.  For example.."no need to touch the cabinet, we can refinish them if you want to change the shade.Save your money " and I admit  I was actually impressed that he didn't  ask to demolish everything and start from the ground zero and also made good suggestion to make things fit in our limited buget. He made an estimate and gave us the quote within an hour. It covered everything that needed to be done So i was happy that I don't have to deal with different teams for  different jobs like counters or electrical and gas etc. He actually had samples for backsplash tile and catalogs for granite with him already, and helped me choose things right away. <br /> <br />  <br /> <br />Two days later, project was on in full swing...with guys starting as early as 6.00am. Any thing that could be salvaged and reused were considered all through the project without compromising with the outcome. <br /> <br />The entire team overall was very friendly, they would listen to requirements and accommodate it to  best possible extent. I must mention that they did the floors of entire first level of the house and finished everything in time but still happily worked on an unexpected extra round of buffing and coating the entire floor on day before Christmas to make sure  that we could move in as scheduled. Need not say We were "FlOORED" by this gesture. <br /> <br /> The project was finished in time and didn't exceed my budget. Yes, it went over the original quote but there were some changes along the way...so no regrets.  I am very happy and satisfied with the overall experience and <br /> <br />so  we have already hired them do  the fence of  backyard of my old house. <br /> <br />

Stoney Creek Development is a small company and it's owner is a true craftsman. He is on the job most days paying attention to the smallest of details. Like all craftsmen he is very passionate about his work and it was evident by the finished product. Like all jobs that have stone involved you will see plenty of dust. The workmen did their best to sweep and mop each day. Stoney Creek is very approachable about incorporating your ideas and making the project fun. After completion of our new bathroom the owner took a look at our ice maker which was not producing ice. He pulled it out of its cabinet and vacuumed all the coils and explained to me how I should continue maintenance on it. He would not take any money and insisted that it was his pleasure to work with us. <br /> <br /> <br />

My contractor has a relationship with the cabinet , ceramic tile, and granite providers, so I got an excellent price for those items.  He is a perfectionist, so everything is done correctly.  The kitchen is expected to be done later this week, and it is more beautiful than I imagined.  I'm really pleased with it. <br /> After completing my kitchen, Stoney Creek Development is repairing my garage ceiling, which had been damaged by a mild (fortunately) earthquake. <br />

Mr. Palumbo asked us to sign a contract, a ?formality? he called it, that his wife and his attorney insisted on, but that would be filed away. It was the spreadsheet that he said would be the ?living document? that would guide the work. He would later pull out the contract to threaten us. <br /> <br /> Mr. Palumbo told us he?d get the job done in three weeks, give or take a day or two. If he went much over that time period he said, then he?d lose money. He routinely arrived to work after 9:30, sometimes as late as 10 am and often left early. Only once did he get here before 9 a.m. Friday of the second and fourth weeks, he did not show up for work. He did not inform s but told his assistant to tell us he ?had a meeting.? We were unable to get him on the phone. However, his assistant was often here beyond 6 pm. <br /> <br /> We started out wanting ceramic tile but were told that the cost of stone tiles available from Mr. Palumbo?s supplier was comparable to the cost of ceramic tile. We wanted floor tile only in the master bath; we wanted linoleum in the powder room and in the upstairs bathroom. Mr. Palumbo said, ?I don?t do linoleum.? <br /> <br /> We were not given a price list when we selected the tile. Later when we expressed concern that the cost of the project had escalated, he told us that some of the tile we had selected was more expensive. The master bathroom was to be finished by the end of the first full week of work. Perhaps as many as 12 to 15 floor tiles broke as they were being cut, as they were being handled, or as they were being laid. We had not been forewarned that tile breakage was a very real possibility. The master <br /> bath was not finished until the end of the fifth week. <br /> <br /> At the beginning we were not told that we would not be given an accounting of how our money was spent. We were never provided with copies of invoices or order confirmations. Instead we got numerous spreadsheets, prepared by Mr. Palumbo, listing the cost of materials. We asked for copies of invoices and order confirmation so we could know what our money was buying.  He stalled and finally Mr. Palumbo refused to provide them. By this time, we were at the end of the second week of work, already heavily invested in this project. <strong> We were told how he spent the money we gave him was none of our<br /> business.</strong> <br /> <br /> At the beginning of the third week, when we balked at giving him yet another check (We had given him almost 75% by this time), he brought out the contract and threatened to put a lien on our house if we didn?t pay him. He said he?d walk away from the project, that he did not have the money to order the materials needed to do the upstairs bathroom (toilet, sink, medicine <br /> cabinet, faucets, and towel bar). In addition, he still had to order the materials to replace the deck. <br /> <br /> Mr. Palumbo did not use any plastic sheeting to contain dust on this project. He brought three dusty, dirty 3 feet wide by 15 feet long runners that he used to create a path from the master bathroom to the back door while he worked on that bathroom. Afterwards, he didn?t use any runners. <br /> <br /> Mr. Palumbo routinely left his tools out on the deck, which was to be done last so he could use it as a place to set up his table saws. Even when it rained, tools and other materials were left outside, overnight and over the weekend. Initially we offered to pay for a dumpster to contain the debris. Mr. Palumbo said he would remove it himself. At the end of the first week, he made a one run to the dump. At the end of the second week, he did not work that Friday so the debris stayed here. We told him we wanted the debris removed every Friday. His response was ?I hear you.? At the end of the third week, most of the debris was removed. On Thursday of the fourth week, he removed only some of the debris. He also used our garage as a staging and work area, leaving saw dust and other debris everywhere. <br /> <br /> We did not expect to have to play an active role in this renovation, but we had to make several runs to pick up materials. We went twice to Fairfax, first to pick up the tile, and later to exchange some tile. For the first tile run, we used Mr. Palumbo?s truck. ?You?ll have to get gas,? he told us. ?I didn?t have time to fill the tank.? We filled the tank to the tune of 100.00. We were not reimbursed. We went to Lowe?s several times to pick up this or that, went to Better Living to pick up something else, and made a trip to the paint store for paint and thinner in order to help move the project forward. Although Mr. Palumbo was not on site, we agreed to have work done over the weekend at he end of the third week because we hoped this would move the project forward. <br /> <br /> Mr. Palumbo said on several occasions that he has very high standards. Those high standards are not evident in his work. <br /> <br /> * The tile surround in the master bathroom is uneven. <br /> * One of the sinks in the master bathroom is set ust slightly off kilter. <br /> * He left a 5-inch scratch on the glass of the Pella storm door leading out to the deck. (He used the deck as a work station.) <br /> *Mr. Palumbo dropped a bottle of pvc joint sealant which he had apparently begun to twist open. It rolled under our china <br /> cabinet in the dining room. We had to retrieve it for him. When we moved the cabinet afterwards to clean, there was a purple stain on the hardwood floor. <br /> *The grout under the sliding-door track of the shower in the master bathroom is dissolving like kindergarten paste. <br /> * There are numerous places on the bathroom walls he painted that are scratched and/or were left unpainted. <br /> * The paint job in general is of very poor quality. <br /> <br /> In the end, after five weeks, we ran out of money and patience. We told Mr. Palumbo that we did not have the money to continue the project. Mr. Palumbo became very angry and threatened to sue us. Then he sent us an e-mail saying, ? <strong>This is what I will do is you give me 2000.00 plus all materalls and a agreement I will relies (sic) you of you contract<br /> and you give me a good railing (sic) A or better with Angie's list.</strong>? <br /> <br /> At that time, according to his spreadsheet, we owed him about $1500. According to us, we owed him $1100. He had become a nuisance?we paid him the $2000 but insisted we had the right to give him an honest appraisal of his work. <br /> <br /> ADDENDUM <br /> <br /> 1. We had to call in someone else to address the grout under the sliding-door track of the shower in the master bathroom that is dissolving like kindergarten paste. We tried to fix it ourselves, but found that the track is floating on a layer of wet caulk. The track floats because the base on which it sits on is not level. It is, in fact, bowed in the middle. And,painter?s caulk was used, not silicone caulk. <br /> <br /> 2. We had him install a heating element under the tile in the master bathroom. In the process, he severed the coils twice. <br /> When we expressed concern about the safety of using this now compromised system, he said this happens all the time and that one could look on the Internet for the materials required to repair the severed coils. <br /> <br /> 3. The cover on the control panel for the floor heating unit broke off. This had apparently never happened before to Mr. Palumbo. He said he would order another. He never did. In the meantime, he asked if we had super glue so he could repair it. We did not. He said he?d get some. He never did. <br /> <br /> 4.  Mr. Palumbo left a 9-inch scratch on the wall to the left of the toilet. There was no scratch on the wall before Mr. Palumbo installed the toilet. <br /> <br /> 5.  He or his assistant used our five-gallon plastic can of ceiling paint we had from another project as a foundation for sawing something. The blades cut several nches into the top of the plastic can, leaving sawdust in the paint and exposing the paint to air. <br /> <br /> 6.  The first threshold he installed between the master bathroom and the
Response from Stoney Creek Development & Construction LLC
"My original contract with this homeowner was for $27,000, not $22,000. After the second week, the wife refused to speak with us, most likely due to the dust the construction process produces. She was very clearly forewarned about the dust that would develop from this project. We provided the homeowner with a beautiful master bathroom of all natural stones, custom shower with built in niche, heated floors, stone countertops, etc. Painter's caulk was not used to bond the track to the shower doors, silicone was definitely used. (This is incorrect information from the homeowner's review.) The bathroom took two weeks start to finish. The homeowner had unreasonable expectations for time to alot for such a project. Originally the project was projected to last 3-4 weeks. The homeowner was delighted with the powder room. Replacement of the powder room and deck took a week. The homeowner became irritated when the project manager went into the hospital with pneumonia which he contracted while working in the rain on their deck. They then claimed that they had run out of money at $19,000. We cannot understand why someone would sign an agreement for $27.000 when they only had $19,000 to spend. It was a terrible shame that such a beautiful project had to end so badly. We did absolutely everything we could do to make this homeowner happy. They could not be appeased. With $8000 remaining on the contract, this homeowner paid the contractor $1700 in materials which we had to drive 2.5 hours away to return. It was not an honorable arrangement. Basically, the homeowner cheated the builder out of $5300 - plus had us return $1700 in materials that had already been purchased for the project. We believe there are many factual errors in the homeowners account of the events."

We didn't have a huge budget to remodel our whole bathroom, but Tom was able to make it happen.  The tiling job he did looks great.  Some of the time, he was not at the job site and had his workers paint and do other jobs. I was not as satisfied with some of the work they did, such as painting, but Tom came back and corrected most of it.   I would use Tom again and just ask that he be present at the job site the whole time. <br />

We found Tom be a honest and reliable contractor right through the project proposal to the project completion stage. He was very detailed with his proposal breaking the project into labor and material costs and sticking with them through the project unlike some other contractors who offer a low ball estimate and then charge a lot more along the way . We also found him to be knowledgeable, providing suggestions and willing to adapt as we made changes along the project. He also worked with the sub-contractors to make sure that the granite and sink work was perfect. He was also willing to come with to stores to pick for materials - hardware, paint, appliance etc. Another important aspect was that he really manages the project time very well and when we had a problem with the granite delivery schedule, he quickly used that time to get the bathroom work on the way. That way we never lost time and pace on the project. <br /> Overall we are really satisfied with the work as we were able to make major changes to our kitchen and master bathroom in 3 weeks. Both those areas looks great and we believe we have managed to raise the value of our home by about $20-25K for a resale 2-3 years down the line. <br />
