Straight Up Plumbing is a local veteran owned company started in 2014 by Mark & Jerilyn Treglia. While in the service, I earned certifications in pipe fitting, welding, metal fabricating, and continued my education and experience in plumbing and water treatment. After witnessing the negative affect the trades industry had on our degrading economy, We saw an opportunity to show our customers that honesty and integrity are the most important within the plumbing industry. Went very well. A lot of aggravation for everyone as your dealing with a utility company and a city building dept. However job was done no worries about the corrosive pipe letting go with and bad outcome.

On December 23, 2019, my wife used Angies List to look for a plumber. Every couple of years our kitchen sink starts to drain slowly and we call a plumber and have it cleaned out with a snake. The clog is usually found to be a grease ball. My wife and I live in a nice house in Peccole Ranch but we are not wealthy. My wife is 76 and we live on a fixed income. Unfortunately, I was not at home when the plumber showed up. Had I been home, once he provided his estimate of $ 490.00 to clean out our kitchen line, I would have showed him the door and checked with someone else. My wife eventually accepted and paid a fee of $ 350 for the service. Th plumber that showed up told my wife he was using a new kind of snake and once he was done she would not have any problems with this drain for 10 years. That claim is of course ridiculous and false. There is no way to know or guarantee any such thing. He also told my wife that the work was guaranteed for 1 year but there is nothing in writing to back that up. Needless to say, I am very unhappy. $ 350.00 is too high a price to charge for this service. I want Angies List to contact this vendor, express my dissatisfaction and ask the plumber to refund $ 150.00 of what my wife paid. A $ 200.00 charge for this service would be reasonable. Update: I felt that a $ 350.00 charge was excessive for a drain clean out. I contacted the company and they are issuing a refund of $ 149.00. That is fair and a good response.

They responded to our request within 30 minutes. Price was very fair compared to other quotes. The employee showed up early and completed the job quickly.

First of all, I have to let my wife be the middleman because I am confined to our bedroom upstairs because of my health. I setup five appointments for people to come out to do estimates and Straight Up! Plumbing was one of them. They were the first at our house. But then I found out they took our credit card number and told my wife that they needed 490 dollars from her to secure the job. When I found out what my wife did and what this business did, I was furious with my wife and this business. I had told her that the idea was to get a bunch of bids then pick we would the lowest one. Later, my dear wife told me that she has called this business back up and they had promised that they would not take the money out of our credit card until they heard back from us. But to the contrary, we find that they took the money out anyways. My wife has called this business up several times but they tell her that she has to talk to a manager to reverse these charges but a manager is never there and will not call us back when we leave a number. Yet, they have our 490 dollars. No work have been done because we never gave them the go ahead (No appointments for work). They just took advantage of my trusting wife and have proven to be a dishonest business. No, I will never use this business for anything.

"The money has been refunded completely and immediately. A deposit was required for us to order the special order material needed. The deposit also allows us to pull the permit in advance so we are prepared to start the job. Your wife insisted we order material and get the job started ASAP. The material was ordered and permit process started. We received a call to put the call on hold, NOT cancelled, and to still be prepared. Two weeks later, after the material was already delivered, the job was officially cancelled. We started the return process, which was difficult due to the special ordered material for the job. Once we were able to confirm the material would be accepted back, minus a restocking fee, we refunded your entire amount. We did NOT pass the restocking fee back to you, but ate that cost as a learning experience. We appreciate the opportunity, and would be honored to earn your business in the future."
