Peter was great--showed up same-day on very short notice, inspected the whole of the house and some sags/cracks I was worried about. Was able to set my mind at ease that there's no underlying safety/structural concern, and provided detailed explanations on everything in layman's terms. Great guy.

We had an extremely positive experience with Structural Solutions, Inc. The owner, Peter, called me the morning after I left a message through Angie's list. He then arranged to come to our house the next day and assess our situation (cracked joists, concrete floor, and walls in our basement). Peter was highly professional, providing identification upon arrival (we did not solicit his ID, he offered it) and doing a thorough inspection of our basement areas of concern. He then discussed options for addressing the problems with us. He was very clear on those actions he believed we should do and those that he thought would be beneficial. My husband and I were very comfortable with him and are in the process of hiring a general contractor to complete the work he recommended. We believe the costs we incurred for Peter's independent assessment was well worth the information obtained. We highly recommend him.

Mr. Malmquist responded to my inquiry by email in less than an hour (on a Saturday). Once we made contact by phone, an appointment for the evaluation was set for the following day. He arrived on time and did a thorough review of the structure, even the dirty crawl space. Mr. Malmquist took the time to explain his recommendations to us and our realtor and, once the evaluation was over, a formal letter detailing these recommendations was complete on the same day so that we could send it along with our requested repairs to the sellers of the property. His timeliness and professionalism was exceptionally welcome, particularly given the tight time constraints of our inspection window. Furthermore, as we are first-time homebuyers who are unfamiliar with the maintenance of historic structures, we very much appreciated the time that he took to go over the details.

Came on time. Got right to work. Told me that the board could not be removed and explained why. Surveyed the rest of the house to see if there were any other signs of structural problems. Reviewed my options with me for the stairway, which are limited due to the Code.

A+ in every area. The owner called me within about 30 minutes. We talked for 10 minutes or so and I answered his questions about the size, location, frequency, etc of the cracks. He told me there was no need to come out that this was standard and there were no structural issues, but that I should do whatever I could to get the heavy rain water away from the foundation. We discussed some remedial actions that I was considering and he supported them. He would not charge me for his service, saying that it was minimal impact on him. If only everyone was this honest and co-operative.
