Suddenly Color Painting Company is the premier provider of quality painting services in the Greater Richmond area. Founded in 2011 by Army veteran Gene Gerber, Suddenly Color's residential and commercial painting services have quickly grown to be some of the best in Richmond. Our work ethic and high level of perfectionism is what sets us apart from the competition. We know you have a vested interest in the outcome — it is your home, after all. The good news is that Suddenly Color has a vested interest as well. Our reputation for quality, honesty, and professional work is on the line and we do everything we can to live up to that reputation while we're in your home. Our licensed and insured painters typically work in multi-person crews in order to complete each project in a timely manner with as little disruption to your home and routines as possible. Our crews will take the necessary precautions to protect your home while painting and will always clean up after themselves. It's our guarantee to you. Once a project is completed, you will have the opportunity to inspect our work with a project foreman before we leave the job site. The job isn't finished until you are happy. Gene and his crew were punctual, knowledgeable, experienced, and accommodating. The project was finished in less time than I had anticipated for what was a lot of surface to cover. The crew who painted did great work on areas with a lot of cut-outs and detail. The recommended paints used were excellent and consistent in quality. We will definitely hire again to paint the other rooms in the house when the time comes.

Gene and his team did an excellent job painting our baby nursery. Gene came out for a free estimate, made some great recommendations while he was there based on the specifics of the room, and was very clear about options and pricing. Within a week his team came out and had the walls and ceiling painted in a matter of hours. We are happy with the result and would use Suddenly Color again in the future.

Some of the kitchen doors were left with marks, although not too noticeable. Wrong paint was used on the cabinets and primer was not used. Cabinets had to be repainted, the painter actually considered not sanding before adding correct coat of paint. This job may have been too small for them, but we would never recommend them or use them again. The owner never came out to check on the work. It was a very disappointing experience.

"When Mr. [Member Name Removed] received the cabinet doors back he approved everything looked great. We even have email verification he was satisfied (with the cabinet doors) along with payment in full. The cabinets were added on as extra and we squeezed them in. Yes we did use a gloss at first for the cabinets even though the cabinet doors were sprayed with a satin finish. I admit that is our mistake but we took care of the issue and corrected it in a timely fashion with minimal disruption to the customer. As far as not sanding before adding the corrective coat that is completely false and untrue. Again the primer comment is also untrue because we used a shellac based primer to prime before we applied the top coat. At Suddenly Color we do not and will not cut corners. Nor do we make excuses if we make a mistake. If you read through all of our reviews this is the first negative review and we have been in business for almost 10 years. Again we here at Suddenly Color apologize to Mr. [Member Name Removed] for the mistake but again once corrected we were told he was very satisfied with the results on how the cabinets looked. If anyone would like to see these cabinets or any other cabinets we have done as proof of our quality in work please feel free to contact us and we will be glad to share. Exceptional work! I cannot praise the painters and Gene highly enough. The painters arrived early every day and worked long, hard days. They made sure I was completely satisfied with the work on a daily basis. The end result is a Beautifully painted home and extremely happy owners.

Suddenly Color did an excellent job and got all the work done in one week's time. Gene is great to deal with and his crew was wonderful. After 15+ years, each room had a decent amount of repair work to be done prior to painting since we are getting the house ready to sell in the spring, and it feels like a new house now. The crew even fixed a wall that another painter had done only 6 months ago that looked awful. Sherwin Williams paint was used and we decided on the grade of paint ahead of time with him. All I had to do was text him the colors I selected and he bought the paint at his cost, passing the savings to us. Any leftover paint was clearly labeled as to what room it was used in (since we had both flat and eggshell in the same colors). I also really appreciated the clean up that the guys did each day before leaving. They always got their shop vac out and made sure things were left as neat as possible. We will definitely call Gene again to tackle any painting we have in the future. Thank you Suddenly Color!!! <br />

They were great. They fit me in because of some time constraints and did a beautiful job. The crew that worked at my house couldn't have been nicer. They were extremely considerate and respectful. They got the job done quickly with very little disturbance to the household. The house looks beautiful. They will be back in the fall to do more work on the outside of the house. Suddenly Color was in a word, awesome! They painted the ENTIRELY interior of our home (minus closets) in 5 days. We had several different paint colors and every room looks fantastic. They were professional, timely, friendly and did an excellent job. When done for the day they cleaned up and put furniture back - it made living in the house so much easier not having to trip over painting supplies and equipment. Would highly recommended them for any painting project. <br /> <br />

Gene was fantastic. He was very professional, and very respectful of our home. Returned calls in a timely manner, showed up on time, and completed the work in the time he stated. <br /> The work was flawless. The lines are super clean, he seemed to be a bit of a perfectionist. He tarped our furniture, and there wasn't a single drop of paint anywhere but the walls. This was a small job, but he certainly treated us as if it were a big one. We have every intention of having him back to do all the trim work and the upstairs. <br />

They were very responsive in making the appointment and called with updates when they were a little late. We knew they wouldn't be able to finish the entire job based on what we paid, but they did as much as they could. And we were thrilled to have them finish the 13 foot ceilings - which we could never do! It was a good decision to buy the deal. <br />

The paint job was unsatisfactory. Cutting in behind the hand rail was not adequate and for the entire length of the handrail the old paint is visible. The painter also missed a portion of the wall and again, the old paint is visible. Small nail holes were not filled in. The paint used was a semi-gloss, and the painter over-rolled the entire job leaving roller lines on all walls. Contacted the provider and let him know my dissatisfaction. He did agree to come back and fix the problems, but has not done so yet. Emailed him on 3/24 to see if he could come out either 4/2 or 4/3. He did not reply until 4/1 and said he was unable to make either of those dates but could come out afternoon of 4/4, which did not work for me. Emailed him back on 4/2 asking what was available the following week and did not receive a reply. I will not use this provider again. <br />

"I contacted the home owner on 2 different occasions to fix the so called unsatisfactory work. Our schedules never seemed to match up. I have emailed several dates to this customer to come out but never got a response back. Our goal at Suddenly Color is customer satisfaction no matter what. They showed up late I showed the areas I wanted painted. Just the ceiling and wall in a small stairway 11 stairs long and a small room about 8 by 10. It took them the entire 4 hours to paint these 2 small areas and they only did 1 coat of paint. I feel like they purposely did this in an effort to cause me to purchase additional time, I declined the additional purchase he cleaned up and left in a huff. <br />

"We discussed with (removed member name) before she bought the deal how much we could get done in the allotted amount of time. She seemed fine with it so she went ahead and purchased the deal. I arrived on time as scheduled and went over the job with her before my crew arrived. We started the time when my crew arrived and we got right to work. No one was late. The job was a stairwell with a landing at the top to include walls and ceiling. There was also a bedroom that included walls and ceiling as well. Before we could start painting we had to caulk cracks in the wall as well as clean the walls and ceilings from cob webs. Something that takes extra time since it was not done by the home owner. After our 4 hours were up we had done walls and ceilings in the stairwell and in the bedroom. Miss. Pervis checked over the work and signed off on our customer satisfaction form as satisfied. She had no complaints while we were there. Here at Suddenly Color we don't leave until the customer is satisfied. That is why we have the forms for our customers to fill out.
