Our furnace had stopped working during a serious cold spell and Sunglow was available to come and take a look. The office staff were super helpful and friendly; great communication. I received a text message with the arrival time of the tech and included a photograph, which I thought was a clever idea. The tech arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. After ordering the part, which arrived quickly, they setup another appointment and a very experienced tech came and swapped the part out. I would definitely use Sunglow again and highly recommend them.

Estimator arrived on time and checked 49 year old A/C and gave quote on new unit as well as repair. We authorized replacement and a date and cost was given, work was done on time, installers were very professional and friendly. Would have liked itemized bill that showed cost of each item, but would use them again. Very happy.

After 15 days it hadn't been repaired they lied to me twice telling me the part had arrived then told me the part was delayed due to shipping issues in the world. I ordered one on amazon.com and repaired it in 2 days. They lied to me right up to the very end even in their apology email

In preparation for a super hot summer, I decided it would be a good move to get my heat pump serviced early. Tasha made the entire process SO easy! She was very pleasant to work with and took the time to answer all of my questions about the service visit. Corey was great too when he came out. He was very professional and super informative about how to care for the unit so it lasts many years to come. Overall this was a great experience and I feel more confidant as a new homeowner!

The diagnostic service call went fine - it was the price gouging for the repair quote that I'm unhappy about. I was quoted $439 for one person for one to two hours for labor only as the part was covered under warranty. When I asked about the amount and could they double check as it seemed high - I was told the amount was correct and that they use a flat fee service guide for pricing. I chose to work with another company and I'm really glad I did. The fan motor was replaced at a cost of $159. I've worked with Sun Glow for seven years but no more. I'm appalled by their price gouging tactics and their taking advantage of the situation. Shame on you Sun Glow!

The manufacturer of the heat pump push hard for you to have an annual inspection of it. They email you and even call you to have the service done.

Technician showed up on time and completed repairs needed. Since he had a few extra minutes in his one hour minimum, he also adjusted a couple of other items to make the furnace work better. Very professional and trustworthy.

GREAT! Tony called when they were going to be a little late. Cleaned out vent. I wanted vent replaced as it looked bad from what I could see from the ground level. When they got up on the roof, they cleaned out vent and were able to fix it and it works great. Thanks,

In Oct I recently bought a home and the home inspector discussed with me to replace the faulty vent piping between the furnace, water heater, and ceiling. In Nov I had a natural gas technician discuss with me that I needed to replace the faulty vent piping between the furnace, water heater, and ceiling. The gas tech also provided me with the contact information for Sun Glow as they were supposedly great contractors to work with. The next day I contacted Sun Glow to schedule the repairs and was told by Naomi that they would come out to my residence the following day. She also mentioned that they would tack on $89 for a service fee. I agreed and have no problem there.
Technician was scheduled to arrive between 10-12. I should mention that I was not home but left them access to the home. At 2:45 I had not heard from anyone in the company to discuss what the status was so I made the call to the office. Naomi answers the phone and she dug through the paperwork to review a "quote" with me. I found that odd that the technician couldn't pick up a cell phone and discuss costs with me but instead had time to get the quote to the front office. Then Naomi tells me that the repairs were not even begun and that they would have to reschedule repairs for the following week. I am completely dumbfounded as to why they were not prepared to make these repairs after I specifically told them to make the repairs that 2 other professional contractors had strongly suggested I get done. Another example that might help Sun Glow understand where they went wrong: A toilet in my home is stopped up. I call up the plumbing company and tell them that my toilet is stopped up and I need someone to come out to unclog it. A plumber comes out, stands in front of the toilet, looks at it, proceeds to tell me that the toilet is clogged, charges me a service fee, and then leaves the house without unclogging the toilet.
Naomi argued over the phone with me to explain that no matter what, I am to be invoiced for the $89 regardless that they did not do what I had originally hired them to do. It would be one thing if they actually made the repairs I asked for but they did not even turn a single screw head. I find that type of business practice extremely unprofessional. Not to mention the complete lack of communication.
Home owners beware: If you request services from Sun Glow, they will probably not perform any repairs you request but proceed to explain to you the conditions that you already know and charge you for it.

My husband and I bought our house in June 2012. The central AC unit has been working fine, but we don't know much about it (first-time home owners) and we've never had it serviced. Portland is in the midst of unusually long-lasting hot weather so I thought it would be a good idea to have it looked it. Our AC unit would also blow normal air after being on for about 6 hours so we wanted to make sure we weren't doing something wrong.
I looked at the deals listed, and called around to many places to see how quickly they could come out. All other places were booked out a few weeks (understandable for summer, especially in the midst of this unusual weather). SunGlow was able to come within a few days. I did call them the next day after I purchased the deal as I did not want to wait for them to call me.
The technician arrived on-time which was great. He was very polite. He asked what the problem was and my husband explained to him that we are first-time home owners, we've been using the unit but don't know much about it, and that it occasionally blows non-cold air. He was nervous telling the technician that as the tech could have taken advantage of us and tried to sell us something we didn't need, as we wouldn't have known better. That was not the case, however. The technician kindly took a look at our unit and explained many things to my husband that we didn't know. Things about proper usage and how to clean the air filter. The filter was filthy and he told us how often to clean it/change it and showed us where it was. He also let us know that our unit would blow normal air sometimes because the coil that controls the temperature is pretty dirty. My husband asked if we needed a new one, and the tech said no, not for a long time. He told us that we could clean it, but to also put our unit on auto after about 3 hours of running, let it run on auto for an hour, then switch it back to on, and that would let the coil kind of reset it's temperature. That was very helpful to know.
He was at our house less than an hour but was very helpful. We did what he said yesterday, and I do notice a difference in the temperature already.
We will use this company again in the future for any heating/cooling needs.

It is doing okay. It is too noisy. I have always had positive with that company. It is ridiculous to have to give up so much money for something simple like that. Sometimes you really have to make an effort to get them to follow up. They were on time. They are local and usually when I call them it is an emergency.

I purchased the Angie's List Deal for routine maintenance of my A/C unit by Sun Glow in preparation for the summer season. They have a great reputation in my neighborhood and sponsor a lot of local events so I figured I could trust them. I was not contacted after purchasing the deal within the two day window, so I called Sun Glow. They advised they are no longer doing the voucher program with Angie's List and were surprised I was able to purchase one. They scheduled my service and advised they would honor the voucher.
The technician showed up on time, answered my questions and performed the routine maintenance on the A/C as requested. I didn't watch the tech but I heard him working on the unit in the garage and the A/C system on the side of the house for about an hour. He advised all systems were functioning normally and the system was thoroughly cleaned, which I didn't doubt because his hands were quite dirty. I thought everything went very well.
A couple hours after the tech left, I noticed the heater was not turning on. I checked the thermostat and it indicated there was no power line connected to the system. I went to the garage and pulled off the front cover of the furnace. That's when the interior electronics cover panel fell loosely to the ground. The safety switch which closes when the panel is secured to the furnace was duct taped, and it obviously didn't hold. The tape came undone and the switch opened, causing the power to shut off to the unit. I found the two screws in the bottom of the furnace and secured the panel in place. I also found two more screws that I have no idea where they came from.
The system is back up and running and I think the unit was properly serviced, but the tech putting the system back together improperly is unprofessional. If the tech thought he lost the screws, there was a tool bench right next to the furnace with spare screws we could have used. At least be honest and tell me the situation, offer to return to fix it, or call another technician to help you. Duct tape to close a safety switch? Not safe and not professional.
