On 10/18/2010 Sure Load Moving company was hired to supply three movers and a truck to move furniture and boxes from a house I was renting to a new house that was approximately three miles away. I asked that they please be careful and take their time. I specified that the most important piece of furniture in the house was the armoire in the den. Needless to say, the movers managed to break two legs off that specific armoire while going down the three stairs off the front porch. They then proceeded to lay it in the moving truck upside down without padding which damaged it even further! I had to ask them to lay something underneath it. I actually broke down a couple wardrobe cardboard boxes and gave to them to put underneath it. When moving other items out of rental house the new bamboo floors were damaged from sliding the couch and table. Even though I specified not to slide anything across the floors. The homeowner had them installed earlier that year.
When we arrived to the new house, they opened the truck and I saw that the side boards of the master bedroom suite were banged up. They were not padded or wrapped. They weren't even secured in the back of the truck! When we were in the kitchen of the new house, the movers tilted the master bedroom Armoire and set it on its corner directly on the hardwood floors. This resulted in two good sized chucks out of the wood flooring and damage to the master bedroom Armoire. I had to get cardboard to put underneath it. On the way up the stairs they broke a piece of molding, scratched the walls and made two indentations on the wooden stairs. Once again from not putting anything underneath it and setting it directly on the oak lip of the stairs. At one point I heard loud banging and I went upstairs only to find the movers literally rolling the top section of the Master Bedroom Armoire down the hall and into the master bedroom. The noise was the shelving inside the Armoire being tossed around. Literally, Top to Side to Bottom to Side, etc. I frantically asked what they were doing. They said it was the only way they could get it through the doorway.
By the time it was over, we had a destroyed armoire, damaged master bedroom sideboards, damaged master bedroom armoire, gouges missing from hardwood floors of new house, damage to stairs, walls, molding and scratched up Bamboo floors in the
rental house which resulted in losing $400 of the rental deposit. The movers took the severely damaged armoire with them to have it repaired. The damages were noted on the paperwork by the Sure Load Movers moving crew leader before they left the move. He called his employer Jeremy Goding and also texted him pictures of the damages.
A few days later, the owner of the moving company (Jeremy Goding) came to the new house to view the damage a retrieve the two broken legs from the armoire. He viewed the damage to the hardwood flooring, master bedroom sideboards, master bedroom armoire, walls and stairs. He said one if the movers had been fired. He also said he would refund the cost of the move and have his friend that specializes in hardwood flooring come to give an estimate and game plan on fixing floors and give us a furniture
correcting pen/crayon to touch up knicks on master bedroom suite.
On 12/1/10, I received an email from Jeremy stating that the refund check for the move ($780) would be mailed on Friday and the armoire should go for repair on Thursday.
on 2/16/11, I received email from Jeremy that he had lost the letter from Furniture Medic concerning fixing my armoire but attached a letter from Carpenters Repair stating they were unable to fix it. Jeremy gave me two options to address the destroyed armoire: I could find someone to fix it and they would cover cost or they would pay to replace it. To date, I have called, left messages, texted, emailed and mailed a certified letter to Jeremy Goding with Sure Load Movers and have been ignored.
I would like for Sure Load Moving Company to follow through and make this right. I've been more than understanding but this
is flat out wrong. This has dragged on for almost two years! I'm being completely ignored and without a doubt I've been fully taken advantage of! 1) I would like to be reimbursed what I paid for the armoire. I emailed and mailed a copy of the invoice for the armoire. The invoice total was $1,468.25. (Sure Load Movers agreed to fix or replace the destroyed armoire but never followed through) 2) I'd like the cost covered to repair the damage done to the hardwood floors. Sure Load Movers agreed to fix this back 2010 but never did. 3) I would like the $400 worth of rental deposit I lost due to the scratched up Bamboo flooring. 4) I would like an apology for the complete disregard I've received from Sure Load Moving Company owner Jeremy Goding. I have spent an enormous amount of time and effort trying to get this resolved. Please note: I have before and after pictures of the armoire, pictures of the damage done to the bamboo floors, hardwood flooring, pictures of my furniture in the bed of SureLoad Movers Truck, Emails, saved text messages, logged calls, eyewitnesses, copies of mailed letters which includes a certified letter, etc. I WILL NOT LET THIS GO!
