I've been so disappointed with this company and would strongly recommend NOT using them.

Our bathtub is peeling (a little larger than the size of someone's fist -- I'd like to post a photo but it doesn't seem that is an option). I've contacted the company 3 times to see if they will help repair it and they've completely ignored by outreach. The peeling occurred a year after the bathtub was resurfaced.

I also had a terrible time with the company and the POC at the time of service.
They did not tell me the work could not be done with a vanity very close by, so I took a day off from work to find this out AND was forced to actually remove the vanity to have the work done.
I asked for a refund of my coupon because of this and was told no.
I then coordinated two contractors (SurfaceMedics and someone else to remove and replace our sink/vanity) and they were not accommodating.
Finally, the POC actually took two weeks to respond about setting up our final (2nd) day of service.
The only good element of the process was that the onsite men who performed the service were kind and professional.
They never performed the service. They came out and when they came out they looked at it and said, they couldn't quote it with the service that we bought. But they would give us a voucher for a different type of service that they couldn't perform that day and to call the office. We called the office and we left them several messages. They never responded to any of our messages. They never came out again or offered any other alternative service. We gave up. We never called them again to come out to do anything. It seemed like it was a good deal. We are absolutely not going to use them again.

I regret that I ever did this. My tub was really in good shape, but I did it on the recommendation of a realtor because I was making improvements in hopes of selling in my home in a few years. Now I feel like my bathroom needs major work because there is no way to replace the floor tile without changing the matching blue tile walls and shower surround. Let me explain. Two technicians arrived at my house. One worked in the 8' x 11' bathroom and the other waited in the car during the several hour process. Two couldn't have worked in the bathroom at the same time, because it is too small. They told me they would need to come back another day after everything dried to finish the project. That was OK. When the technician cleaned up the bathroom, he used a dirty rag or sponge to clean the surrounding tile above the tub and outside the tub. The rag obviously had remnants of solvent on it because it left the tile permanently dulled, the shiny surface now gone. He used the same dirty cloth to wipe the chrome fixtures and they were dulled, but I managed to restore them. When I complained to the company, the man who came out acknowledged that I was upset but minimized the extent of the damage. He took pictures and said they would get back to me. I asked for an acknowledgement in writing from the company that there was damage and that they would correct it. They said they would pay for tile restoration, not replacement. I couldn't find any tile replacement companies in the Washington-Baltimore area and asked them for recommendations. I got their recommendations as to companies. None of the companies could help. Furthermore, after researching the issue, I learned that tile restoration is not recommended on bathroom floors because of the wear. There were some companies in the NY, NJ area, but that was too far away. All this researching took time on my part. At that point, I felt so put off by the whole experience that I wanted no more to do with Surface Medics, not even to request reimbursement. Unlike many other companies, they did not have a marked business vehicle, uniforms, or business cards. This shouldn't matter, but I suspect they get business through Angie's Deals and are a very small company that couldn't afford to reimburse me. This experience soured me on Angie's Deals so I don't purchase them now. I hope that by now the technicians have learned better clean-up methods. I haven't checked Angie's list grades for this company since then. Maybe their grades are good now. The only reason I bothered to file this report now, almost two years later, is that I keep getting messages from Angie's List reminding me to make a report. So here it is. As a result of this experience, I am loathe to use any Angie's List special deals.

It turned out okay. They sprayed gloss on my tub; when they did the spray, it got on the chrome on the knobs on my sink. The spray also got on a few other items as well. He could've done a better job in cleaning up.

Prep was poor, rushed job, bad finish, gouges in prep bottom of tub.
Gunsmith finish at top of tub on bathroom side (versus wall)
You all (Angie's List) were supposed to send me a form for a full refund, I asked 2 times, and you all never followed up.
Technician arrived on time and was polite. After one year, the job still looks good. I purchased service on a discount. The regular price to paint tub- near 500, is too much to pay. Reason- is is not ''new looking'' as advertised. There is some orange peel- inconsistent gloss, the edged of the tub are messy with cracks - not sanded well in prep. The area around drain has a rim around the was not painted. The masking tape covered area. It is best to remove drain flange to paint.
These are lessor issues considering the $250 is a good price. Do not expect ''new looking''.
Other issued- the house filled with paint spray vapors- very toxic urethane paint. He only cracked the bathroom window when spraying. I became dizzy, opened windows and put a fan in hall. The technician only had a fresh air respirator- He should have been in a complete covered outfit. Paint dripped on my hall wood floor as he left- his sprayer dripped. I had to point this out to him as he was leaving. He cleaned the mess. I gave a 'D' for professionalism for these reasons.
Overall, good value despite the issues. It is important to have a fresh air fan when they work to protect the environment. Do not expect them to do this.
I was disappointed due to a scheduling error, and felt that due to this, the work was less detailed than it should have been.

They did a good job. At first they were a little disorganized and they had to come back out three times to get it complete. They were very kind and professional and they did eventually stay on task the job was completed to my liking! They were very dedicated to getting it right! I would recommend them with reservations.

He came and told me that he was using a new system that isn't as evasive as normal. He mentioned that he needed to be trained on the new system so we postponed. He came an hour late to the appointment and he ran out of product and said he would come back with materials to finish it. He left and never came back. When I contacted him, he said he was going to vacation and I have not heard back from him. He has not responded to any of my messages or text messages.

The installer was able to adapt to our shifting schedule, moving the work twice to match our issues.
Excellent work, professional staff - very happy with their work, and 6 months later the tubs look as good as they did the day of the work!

Arrived midway through the window that was provided. Used plenty of paper and tape to ensure the finish didn't get on anything else in the bathroom.
Clean, efficient and explained how to properly care fro the bath tub in order to prevent damaging the finish.
Two young gentlemen showed up and did a great job and were very courteous when they came to our house. They did not caulk around the shower which we knew ahead of time. When my husband went to remove the old caulking, the new paint had gone over the caulking and peeled off. (If we had known that they would paint over the caulking, we would have removed it before they came.) My husband called and was told that Surface Medic would fix it and that it would only take a few minutes. On the first appointment, we were to get a call as they were on their way so that I could be home. They never called and then they never called to let us know that they had missed us. My husband left several messages and then I called and just started entering extension numbers. I finally reached a gentleman there who told me that guys had showed up at our house and no one was home. They never called ahead of time as they were going to. They said that they would reschedule the appointment in another week. We received an email which in its entirety said "June 25 a.m.". So yesterday on the 25th, I stayed home all morning from work, left 3 messages with them to verify that they were coming, and as of today, I have yet to hear anything from them. We have not used our shower in 4 weeks and are very frustrated. We would not recommend this company to anyone based on their unreliability, their customer service, or their ability to finish a job.

It was a poor quality job and it has begun to flake off. The corners were a little bit spotty. I couldn't tell while the guy was still there; it was when it dried that I could tell. They didn't charge anything extra. I haven't called the company to complain and if I did, they'll come back out and fix it. It was disappointing.

When I received my first contact from Surface Medics in Nov. 2013, I informed them that I wanted to wait until spring so that we could air out the bathroom after the reglazing when the outside temperature was warmer. They said it would not be a problem. When I try to contact them in early spring. I could not reach anyone at either the Silver Spring office location or at Surface Medics corporate office. I assumed that the local office went out of business but was puzzled by why no one contacted me from the corporate office when I left a couple of messages. After about a month's wait when I was about to seek a refund, I was contacted at last and asked when I would like to schedule the work. I was informed that the company had company wide telephone problems during that period.

The work was accomplished in a couple of hours and the bathtub looks like new. The workers did a good job of taping over the bathroom wall and floor tiles and there was no overspray at all. They did a thorough clean up of the bathroom and the work was completed in less than 3 hours

The smell from chemicals used in the treatment permeated the 2d floor of our home while they were working but we were able to eliminate the smell but inserting a large exhaust fan in the bathroom and kept the bathroom door closed overnight. I read one referral review by an individual who stated that they had no strong odor at all with their work. I totally disagree with that statement

My wife was advised by the workers not to use strong detergents on the reglazed bathtub but only mild soap. That was disappointing to her since she is accustomed to cleaning the baths with her usual cleaning materials. There was no hint of that restriction in Surface Medics advertising but there was a detailed explanation of suggested cleaning approaches on the back of the invoice we received at the end of the visit.

For the Quality grade, B or C We don't have any experience since we haven't had guests use the tub since the work was done. The tub looks good.
For the Professionalism grade, A for workers, C for company management.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. It was inconvenient and smelly but it was fine. It wasn't excellent but it was good. I didn't spend any additional. He was late coming out.
