"Dear Customers There are 2 sides to every story so please look at mine as well! So, nowhere on Angies does it say I?m licensed but it does say I?m insured which iam, i operate as a handyman! In some counties a licensed is not specific like mt Vernon, i sit through a board meeting and have my scope approved and they do not require permits or inspections, you get a certificate of work with the major directly and other counties are similar. This is Columbus based. So let me clarify some untruthful information from this customer! I mentioned to him, he may pull the permits and i do the work, he understood its illegal in Columbus but he wanted to save some from that perspective! He choose not to have the permits. First Off, I had HIS permission to be onsite with my traveling work camper, that was not undisclosed! He also knew and it was communicated that i needed a proper outlet for the camper, and i showed him a existing hole on the siding i was using and he said okay! He keeps blaming me for this one closet door, The door track was very badly damaged and could not be saved! All the other doors and tracks were still usable. The clothes rods were also very badly damaged and had to be removed. Onto the bathrooms! So, the design he previously had was not going to work with my premade Schulter pan systems. I did the framing and waited until he came back before i ran electric and any drywall to confirm the changes. We discussed it and he agreed to the change once he saw it in person! In the bathrooms i had to drop hard ceilings just a tad to run my electric, lighting and exhaust fans. I asked the customer if he wanted me to tear out the original crumbling lath n plaster ceilings to do the new work but he chooses not to because if i did he would also have to re insulate some of the attic and didn?t want to spend the extra expense. The new electric in the home was done to the codes i know! For example, outlet boxes 16" on center, all of my outlets were run with 12/2 Romex, Romex stapled every 2 or 4 ft, switches were at 48 inches on center, stove was run with 6/3. This home had an old pushmatic breaker box that had to be upgraded to a 100amp panel. All my new circuits were labeled with the proper breaker sizes and the old circuits tied in and labeled. I told Ben i could retie in the meter before i left but he wasn?t even sure if the furnace worked and he choose not to and to hire somebody else to deal with Columbus. I was an electrical Foremen for 5 years building restaurants all across Ohio! I built the del tacos, Swenson?s, tons of starbucks! They all still work and i could go into each one and show you how electric works! Most of the plumbing was existing that i retied into. I only added pex lines to the existing copper lines for the new shower valves. I hung the TOP cabinets only and i asked the city inspector if i may pull pull the drywall from the outlets and below since all the electrical was ran from the basement up and anything in the celling was existing. They said that would be okay, i let the homeowner know. He choose not to and to hire somebody else. This customer can paint me as the bad guy all he wants, i communicated throughout the process and a lot of the choices were his. The materials came out to be close to 20,000 that were onsite for him to see and the materials i used throughout my time on the job. I also had to pay a helper and a trash service, i made some but not much with the amount of good and hardwork i did, plus the extensive amounts of demo work i did. He still had over 20,000 on the table! I did very good work and hard work and this was an unfortunate situation but not my fault but he may blame me all he would like. I even offered to finish my very good tile work and all the items that needed no permits for the $4000 as my grace and he can pay the rest to somebody who deals with Columbus and he choose not to!
