I have made numerous attempts to resolve my complaints with Muno. He usually does not respond to emails or telephone calls and his voicemail box is full so you cannot leave a message. Here’s the contact history: 4/9 – sent provider the project list via email 4/10 – Provider promised to provide service delivery dates. No dates received. 4/26 – Contacted provider via email. He promised to get back with me “shortly”. 4/30 – Contacted provider again via email indicating I need a firm date for getting work done within next three weeks or would need a refund. No response. I communicated that I needed all the work done by the end of May. 5/12 – Contacted provider again via email requesting a response or I would file a complaint. He responded back saying he would perform the work in the next week or two. 5/23 – Provider stopped by my house for 30 minutes to take a look at the projects I want done. We agreed that he should be able to complete the exterior projects within the 40 hours and he'd provide an estimate for any overage, if any, to be billed at his normal hourly rate. 6/9 – Contacted provider again via email and text trying to get a firm start date. He agreed to complete all the work the week of 6/26 beginning that Monday. I informed him that I would be taking that week off work to be present during their onsite time for access. Muno insisted that he would order the deck supplies himself through his supplier (whom I would pay directly) and have everything ready to go in time for onsite work the week of 6/26. I insisted that all exterior work needed to be complete before the July 4th holiday since he had already missed the May deadline. I wanted to enjoy my deck for a planned celebration. Week of 6/26 – Onsite work (all was supposed to be completed this week) Painting - Muno declined to do any of the exterior painting we’d already agreed on unless I paid him an additional $1600 for a subcontractor he wanted to hire to do the painting, saying he doesn't do any painting himself. I explained that we’d already agreed that the time for the painting would come out of the 40 hours, so it didn't matter to me whether he did it personally or hired someone to do it, as long as it didn't exceed the time I'd already paid for. Also, that if we wasn't able to do that kind of work, he should have made that clear in his advertisement and during our initial scoping discussions. Muno still wanted to charge me an extra $1600, so the paint work was now off the table. This was a two day paint job (16 hours), so I should have been able to use my deal for that purpose. Power Wash - Muno had agreed to have his power wash subcontractor power wash one side of my house, the fence, and a small patio. The power wash guy left after two hours, having only power washed the one side of my house and the small patio, saying he didn’t have time to wash the fence. I asked Muno to have him return to wash only the trim (would only take one hour per the power wash guy), and again Muno wanted to charge me extra for that. Deck - Muno agreed that he’d complete all deck repairs this week since I had taken time from work to be present and provide access. Despite this, Muno didn’t have deck boards delivered until Friday morning 6/28. Since it was already the end of the week, he couldn’t complete the work that week, as promised, despite my having taken the week off work to be there for it. Light fixtures – Despite me asking and insisting several times, Muno declined to replace any fixtures, one time saying he’d do it when he was back for the deck, then another time saying he’d do it when he had his truck back and could bring his tall ladder. None of the fixtures are high enough to require more than a six foot ladder (which I have and offered for him to use). Again, he declined to do so. Fence repairs - same story as the light fixtures. He'd do it when he returned. 7/2 – Muno brings his preteen son (looked about 10 or 12 years old) to demo my deck. They spend about 2 hours doing this then leave. Sent a text message to Muno that evening telling him not to bring anymore underage workers to my home. 7/3 – Muno spends 4 hours replacing all the boards on my deck. The results were disastrous! Walking along the outer edge of the deck, the boards are very unevenly aligned, with many falling short of even covering the frame by two inches or more. Not to mention, the deck is so squeaky you can hear anyone walking on it from inside the house with all doors and windows closed! Not to mention, some of the new boards he ordered and installed should have been rejected / not used due to the large rot holes in them. I tried calling him immediately that afternoon after he left, but again, no answer or way to leave a message. So, I sent him a video via text showing how poorly the work was completed, indicating that it was unacceptable and needed to be redone. He agreed that it needed to be redone. I have not heard from him since. All in all, it has been an extremely painful and frustrating process to obtain only 6 or 8 hours of the 40 hour deal over the last three months. At least 4 of the 8 hours he did perform were wasted due to the unacceptable work product (replacing deck boards) which will have to be redone. I expected to have all of the 40 hours worth of projects completed by the end of May and communicated as such, but here it is mid-July with no end in sight. I cannot afford to waste any more time and money with this contractor coming onsite for two or three hours at a time and then leaving behind shoddy work .
