They just finished the work last week. They did a great job. There was no problem. I hired them at the end of September. They told me at the time that they had a big project coming up so it might be a few weeks. They did a great work, but we will see after it rains one time. They canceled on me one day saying that because it was raining. They were very responsive. I didn't have any problem other than the cancelling.

I did not do promotion through Angie's List because I had no idea what worked I needed done before they came out and wrote the estimate but I did select them through their ratings on this site. They took care of the problem and the new home owner's have a guarantee so no complaints there. The original time estimate to get to the job was a week and a half to two weeks. I told them I had about two weeks to closing (work was done as a result of inspection after home sale and I committed to getting it done). After two weeks I had not heard from them so I called to see when it could be done. I told them it was now or never as I would have to write a check at closing to the new home owners in lieu of the work being done if it could not be done by closing. I will give them a break as it was a period of heavy rain and emergency situations so I know they were swamped (pun intended). They did get the work done for e. When the work was estimated it was $450 for each crack. I didn't know how to judge the price so I asked how many people it would take and how long would it take. I was told it would take two people most of a day or three people for half a day if I needed it done in less time for the day. So the price seemed reasonable. As it turned out - one guy came out and completed the work in less than five hours. He did a great job and was very courteous so no complaints with that just now the price seems high considering the labor involved. I had paid $40 for the estimate which was included in the $900 so you got to figure that time too but still seems high to me.
They did an absolutely fabulous job. They had to hand dig the hole to reach the base of the crack prior to sealing. The job was performed perfectly and all water infiltration has stopped. The filled the hole, graded neatly and cleaned all residue soils. I would certainly use them again. The showed up on time to provide the estimate. And again to correct our problem. a great service provider.

Basement Wizard employees were on time and very friendly. Since these employees were not involved in the original inspection and job estimate I showed them the two areas that needed to be repaired and described the problem. I also pointed out how important it would be to control the dust which I knew would be created during the repair. I was assured that the area would be enclosed and air cleaners would be used to control the dust. Upon completion of the repair I was shocked to find that my entire basement was filled with a dust cloud. Everything in the basement was covered in a layer of fine powder. I contacted the original estimator (employee) who offered to have the crew return and clean my basement. I told him that I had no confidence that they would perform an adequate job and I would perform the cleanup myself. A couple of weeks later after a heavy rain event one of the "repaired" cracks leaked just as it did before the repair. A second crew (which included a foreman) was dispatched to preform a second repair attempt. The second crew did a much more professional job and their repair appears to have stopped the leak so far. My disappointment with Basement Wizard is not with the fact that it took two attempts to complete the repair. My issue is that I was assured by the original estimator and the repair crew that they would control the dirt and dust during the repair process. They failed in this promise and I spend many hours cleaning up after them.

Response from The Basement Wizard
"I understand this was a very frustrating experience for you as you did ask us to take careful measures to keep the area as dust free as possible and I understand the repair technicians did not finish the job properly to repair your leak. These employees were shown their efforts were not sufficient and reprimanded. Our offer was to try to make things right immediately by repairing the leak the next possible opportunity and to clean the area's that were affected with dust immediately. It is our hope you are aware these employees have learned from this experience as we have continued to have 100% customer satisfaction since this mistake."

I was very pleased with the work performed by the Basement Wizard. Everyone involved was very cordial and efficient.
They did a good job in fixing the crack on the basement wall, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. The true test came
when we have had many episodes of torrential rain and i finally am not getting any rain in the basement.
Overall it went extremely well. The provider explained what he was going to do. The company was also the best priced for what we were having done. We have not had any water issues since :)
I am female and at that time I was here alone; so the owner, Orville had the insight to let his sister lead... who had been finishing concrete since she was thirteen years old! The only reason I didn't score excellent for profssionalism is because they were so easy to be around- my estimation of being too professional is really quite stuffy. I could say more but, readers may sumise that getting some kind of kick back....but all in all...I am glad to have the problem taken care of, and be listened to...all to often consumers get what they're given...(like with auto mechanics, but that's a whole other story!)...This Angie list works! thanks for introducing me to "THE BASEMENT WIZARD"
We had an issue with water leaking into our basement and had a number of contractors come out and give estimates and ideas for addressing the problem. Basement wizards correctly identified the problem (rather than try to make the job bigger than it ought to be like others who came to give estimates) and put in a new retaining wall in 2009.
They did such a good job, were well priced, and extremely responsive that in 2012 we had them back to replace our front porch which had settled and pulled away from our house. Again they did an excellent job and were priced very well. I have since recommended them to everyone.
It is a real shame there are not more companies like them. It is exceedingly difficult to find people who take pride in their work and are not looking to scam you.

The Basement Wizard is a great company. After searching for a company to use, I went with the Basement Wizard for several reasons 1) The cost: it was the best deal I could get for the type of work I wanted. 2) Availability: We were able to schedule the work pretty quickly, as others were months out. 3) Compromise and understanding: My basement had several issues to overcome - brick foundation, dirt floor, unknown footer locations. Orville, the owner, seemed to have the knowledge of how to best handle my situation. We discussed a few options and he came over a couple of times to verify things so that we were both on the same page once work started. In addition, I was very impressed with his willingness to work with me on a contract addendum. With the type and amount of work that was to occur, as well as the cost, I wanted to have a construction plan developed so everyone would know exactly what was going on, what materials were to be used, and a firm explanation of the warranties. I created one and presented it to Orville. Orville and I sat and discussed it for about 30 minutes, made changes, and signed off on it. Other waterproofing companies rejected the idea of a property owner construction plan and would not sign off on such things. I guess Orville is the only one who actually knows what customer satisfaction is.

Once the work started, I was amazed of how clean they kept things. I figured my back yard would look like a war zone with as much dirt that had to be removed, but at the end of each day, there was just a light dust trail on the sidewalk.

It took about 3 weeks or so to complete the work. This timeframe was over the original estimate, but since the work didn't require people running in and out of my house, the heat issues, and the quality I saw after each day, I didn't mind.

Once the work was completed, I was simply amazed at the transformation of my basement. The damp, muddy floor was gone and replaced with a nicely finish concrete floor. The broken stuccoed walls all had a white finish on them. I could not have been happier.

One thing Orville and I discussed was the fact that since I had a brick foundation, leaks may appear even after the initial treatment. When the first big rain came after construction, I went down to check on things. There were several pinhole leaks that I could find, but nothing like the massive flooding I had to deal with prior to the waterproofing. I called Orville to see when he could come by to fix them. He came within a day or two and resealed the holes.

I continued to check on the walls of the basement after significant rains and called Orville every time I found a leak. The number of leaks gradually became smaller and smaller, but I knew that with a brick foundation, new ones could pop up anytime. I called Orville and told him that I would rather have some of the sealant at my house so I could fix the leaks instead of continually calling him. Orville thanked me and had a worker stopped by the house with 6 tubes of sealant. Orville also explained to me the correct way of applying and said to call him with any questions.

I would recommend the Basement Wizard to anyone needing to waterproof their house, especially for older homes that have brick or stone foundations.
