The Deck Store

Everything went very well. Nine years ago we had an Ipe deck built on the front of our home and wanted the same wood to be used for a new deck for our backyard. So much better than pressure treated lumber....no cracking or splintering of the wood during the years.

We were on a waiting list to have the deck built however it was well worth the wait as Tom Booker designed a perfectly built deck that complemented our home. Miguel and his team were very professional, knew exactly what they were doing, cleaned up after each day plus had to work in some pretty cold days.

Great work. Now we have a screened porch that is level.

There have been no issues with the lights and the quality of the work done was excellent.

The Deck Store confirmed my list of structural treated lumber and provided a complete estimate of AZEK decking, railing, and lattice work. They also estimated the quantity of screws and fasteners that I needed.  Five boards had a factory dimple that were quickly exchanged and my excess lattice material was returned for refund.  Being my first deck, it was comforting to work with people that know installation as well as the material.  The completed deck is a thing of beauty and the pride of the neighborhood.

I interviewed 5 top rated deck companies from angies list for this job. Most of the quotes were within $5000 of each other. I had already designed the elements of the deck and drew up some plans. Some of the companies tried to talk me out of my plans to be able to do the decks their way which was unacceptable. Four of the five companies called me back and declined the job due to complexity and the fact that both decks were at one and two stories above ground. Of these five companies only the deck store readily accepted the challenge and my design plans. I worked with the owner of the deck store to refine my plans and for mutual understanding and agreement. The owner, Tom Booker, then drew up 3D CAD drawings to help me visualize the decks. In addition, the deck store also managed all the building permits (note: some of the other companies told me I did not need a permit). A project manager was assigned, Joe Barlow, who showed up every day in the morning to ensure work was progressing and issues addressed. Both Joe and Tom were easy to work with and were very patient with me and my perfectionist oversight of this project. Their carpenter who built the decks, Felipe and his son, were extremely professional and had meticulous attention to detail. Whenever I had a need to get involved they listened to me and made minor changes as dictated by myself. In addition, when minor things needed tweeking they did not hesitate to redo work to get it right. They always cleaned the job site daily. Work took 2.5 weeks and the decks and pergola look fantastic. There were some communication challenges between headquarters and the project manager due to earlier plans having been used versus revised plans. Regardless, my involvement on a daily basis caught some of the items and they were addressed in a professional manner. At the end of the project Tom allowed me to do a debrief with him on how the project went and was very receptive to improvement suggestions. I would highly recommend the deck store.

<br /> <br />We had a deck and railing that needed to be replaced. The Deck Store had been recommended by our landscaper. When Tom came for an estimate he was very thorough. He thought the framework was in good condition but also told us that they would not know for certain until they took the old deck off. We then visited the Deck Store to see the possible samples and their colors. We live in a condo and had to meet certain requirements. We then signed a contract. The scheduled date was seven weeks out. Joe called us the week before to let us know the timing and to tell us they would remove all furniture and plants from the deck when they came. The following week the supplies were delivered and put in the driveway. With in an hour Joe was here to oversee the project that Miguel and Jarod work going to do over the next three days . <br /> <br />Miguel and Jarod came early every morning and worked late every afternoon. They worked in the hottest whether we had had all summer. The project was finished in 3 1/2 days except for the post caps which had come in the wrong color. They came in the following week and were put on. <br /> <br />The deck is a beautiful light gray using Timber Teck boards. The detail work is perfect. We had a bench installed in one area where a railing used to be. It makes the flowers on the deck much more visible. <br /> <br />We are very pleased with the entire project. We would recommend and have recommended them to others. <br />

Good quality materials. Local permit people were pushing me to finish and Decks of Distinction provided 3rd party installers. Weather was real bad, but they got the job done in time. Overall, I liked working with Decks Of Distinction and I recommend them. Good service and materials are not cheap. I would use this provider again in the future. <br />

We had some railings split and they replaced them. It was under guarantee. We did not have any problem. Everything was fine except the company sent brown railings instead of black so we had to return them. It was the company's not the local people's fault. Their quality of work was good. We were totally pleased.

I will recommend them because they are specialized in that kind of operation and they are easy to work with.  They are locally owned as well.   <br /> <br /> There is always room for a better price point.  

Everything went beautifully. They did a beautiful job. They actually staged the lumber out here for a week, and they were on vacation, but they went above and beyond satisfaction.

I do not know anything about their work because we did not use them for that, but the guy was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot from him just by going into his shop and talking about the different companies that makes those composite decking. That was helpful. He knows his stuff. We did not have any issues. They were very good. It is nice; it is a small place. It is not like stopping at a big store where you are just a number. It has that personal attention.

They did a great job installing a composite deck. At first I thought I was just going to fix the deck that was there but decided it was better to replace the whole deck. Nice job.

They removed all wood floor decking, handrails including posts, stairs and risers. Replaced all of this with Timbertech Evolutions Terrain , a composite decking, with a 25 year warranty. Installed new 4X4 wood sub posts on the entire deck, landing and stairs. Installed new rail frames with 1/8" stainless steel horizontal cable at 3" spacing between wires. Installed 3 color option lights in the railings which are operated by a remote control.  Everything was done professionally and on a timely basis. We have had nothing but compliments form every person who has seen the new deck. <br />

It really looks nice. The bottom two steps flare out. It looks better than I thought it would. They were very cooperative about my changes. They didn't leave a mess and they accomplished it all within a day, which was hard to believe.
