They didn't show up twice and didn't return my call. They didn't measure correctly so I had to order additional wood and I'm still waiting for them to return and finish the job

Professional work. Prompt in giving appointment and came on time. Work was done as per scope. Had to pay extra to as teh deal didn't cover all of the kitchen area. So it is best to first measure and check the rate for additional area before scheduling to get the right estimate
It looks great. I love it. He was supposed to come back and fix a few things. He offers a great product and when he does the work, it's great work. Sometimes he might be too busy and might be scattered by his next appointment. He's not very organized sometimes.

We obtained 3 estimates from companies recommended on Angies list and selected The Floor Doctor because the cost was the median and the owner seemed very knowledgeable. The problems began with constant changing of dates when the service would take place. Because the work entailed taking out all the furniture and storing it in the garage, moving the pets out, and staying out of the first floor daily for a week, it required much effort and planning. The agreed start date was changed 3 times.
The company used the installers to move the furniture rather than proper movers. While they were able to get the furniture in and out, they nicked some cupboards in the process. This was repaired in the end.
When the work was finally completed, the new floor stain did not match the existing floor at all! We were told it would fade into the old floor color over time, at least somewhat. That does not seem likely.
The more pressing problem was two fold. The existing wood floor was actually torn when a piece of wood was removed to use as a sample for type and color to match the new floor. This tear never could be repaired properly and was poorly fixed with filler.
Secondly, a week after installation, there appeared several areas where the polyurethane actually bubbled up and pealed off. No explanation was made for the phenomena and the owner was pleasantly amenable to fixing these areas. After several weeks trying to schedule the work, now 6 weeks post initial installment, mysteriously MORE areas started to peal away. The Bona rep was consulted and again, no explanation could be determined, short of accusing us of spilling something on the floor that caused the polyurethane to disintegrate. We even paid extra to have the commercial grade Bona polyurethane applied! The owner was baffled and subsequently cleaned and resealed the 2 rooms involved at no extra charge. The areas that peeled down to the bare wood are still noticeable and the cleaner used prior to the polyurethane application, was splattered dry all over the kitchen cabinets and counter (we were out of the house another week during this time). But we are finished!
The owner was very agreeable throughout this entire nightmare. This company is very busy and we feel perhaps the job was just too much. Had we just done a recoat of polyurethane, it probably would have been ok.
The floors are beautiful! The floors started out very dull with some scratches and we wanted them to look new without going through the entire refinishing process AND we wanted it done DUSTLESS. I called one company and was quoted a price too much for my budget, so my next call was to the Floor Doctor. Scott answered and told me right away about all of my options and the approximate cost of each: deep cleaning; buffing, cleaning and re-coating; and a full on refinishing. He wanted to look at my floors first to make sure I was getting the service that was right for my particular situation and he came out the NEXT DAY! He told me that the floors did not need to be completely refinished and that they were in good enough shape to do the buff, clean and re-coat, which is a much more inexpensive option. Scott even made sure to tell me of the limitations of the process and that it would not completely remove every flaw, but that the floors would look amazing. I appreciated his honesty and his not trying to sell me something I did not need. He also recommended a satin finish which is not as shiny and looks fantastic. He even wrote up a quote on the spot which was incredibly reasonable. We needed it done right away because we need to move in and he said he would start at 8am the following Monday, which was only a few days away. He and his team were there when I arrived to let them in and he went over the process with me again and explained everything in detail. Our entire space is hardwood, so it took 2 days, and when we went to inspect (which Scott insisted on) my husband and I were thrilled!!! The floors were gorgeous! They look brand new and the satin finish is so much better for us than the really shiny finish. They still have shine, but in a more subtle way and almost every flaw is gone. We have a few really deep scratches from a previous owner, but even those are MUCH less noticeable and can only be removed with a complete refinish. There is no dust to clean up and there is no strong chemical odor (they use a low VOC product, which was also important to us.) We are so happy with the work that Scott and his team did and will definitely use them again if we have the need. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Floor Doctor!!!!! Thank you!!!
It was hard to get the service scheduled, but only because he is so busy. But once it was scheduled, he was on time, efficient and very friendly. The service was easy and our floor looks very nice!
My whole experience with The Floor Doctor was very pleasant from start to finish. Scott was very professional, prompt, and communicative throughout the whole process.
The oak floors in our house were pretty badly worn. After 8 years of use and abuse from us and our 3 young kids, they were in desperate need of attention.
Scott came out and gave us the rundown of possible treatments, and was very straightforward about what results we could expect. We had some deep knife marks in the hardwood from carpet that had been installed on top of the oak floors previously, so we knew that whatever route we went with, short of tearing out the floors, nothing was going to get rid of the worst of the damage. Of the options available, we decided to go with the Bona Prep Recoat, which is basically a light refinish job that involves sanding to remove the previous urethane finish, stain is then used to even any discoloring from sun damage, and then 2 coats of high-quality urethane are applied. Scott was clear that the Recoat wasn't going to get rid of heavy marks in the wood, and given the price difference, and the fact that we were dealing with other uncorrectable damage, we opted for that over the full refinish. Plus, with the Recoat option there was virtually no dust.
I'll say the results were excellent, and better than expected. We had a couple areas that had significant bleaching due to sun exposure, and Scott was able to even out the color very, very well.
Top marks all around, both for Scott as the service provider, and the results of the work.
The process went well. The team was professional and explained to us all our various options at the different stages. We were really nervous about how it would turn out, but it was so much better than doing it ourselves! One thing that went wrong was trying to lighten dark spots on the floor with peroxide. It's very common and usually it either works or it doesn't, but with us, it over-lightened the floors so we have a couple of light patches now. Scott was very helpful in working with us on possible solutions, all of which were fair, and in the end, we decided to just live with the light spots, which are covered by throw rugs anyhow.
I just wanted the top of the floor done...not sanding down. They did a great job of getting the floor to re-shine like new. Its been 9 months later and its still shining.

We used Mullican engineered flooring; it was handscrapped hickory and once it was installed, the wood itself had several spots that opened up to the plywood below. I suppose this was because of the stressing that was done to the planks...but it just looked a bit cheap. This wasn't Scott's problem, I just don't think this type of wood fits with my décor. Nor do I think Mullican should have wood stressed so much that the plywood below shows! I will definitely be using a different wood for the rest of the house.
I used the floor doctor the first week of March. Scott the owner was very prompt and courteous in all aspects of customer service. I had other quotes from other Angie's list members and there prices were far more expensive and the work they suggested was not needed. On the day of the service Scott was on time and very conscience that the work he did was to my liking. I am very happy with the whole service from start to finish
