They were very nice people in terms of professionalism it was just an obvious fact that they did not know what they are doing .He appears to be unfamiliar in installation of this kind of material.

The laminate installation wasn't so bad, the bad part of the job was the reinstallation of the trim between the baseboard and the new floor that I have to redo myself because it was left all broken and badly nailed

Contractor is scam artist. No contractors license, hired for flooring install. Said he could do sheet rock and various other projects. Agreed on price. Then asked for 35% up front. I was uncomfortable with this. Agreed he would start work so work could be evaluated before payment. First day only worked 2 hrs. Second day onlynworked 3 hrs, Off third day, came back on Monday, only worked 3 hrs. At end of first day he text and wanted money. Payton was given 350.00 via Zelle. He said that was not enough so he was sent another 150. Third day he stated I owed 35% down in spite of me already paying 500.00. He had confirmed night before the balance was 250. Now he changed his mind and wanted 687.00 up front. After bantering back and forth, I paid him the full amount. He never came back, would not respond to my phone calls or text messages. He took the down payment and stole it. He also installed some of flooring in master bedroom in spite of me telling him do not install till sheetrock is finished. I believe he did this intentionally knowing he was walking off job. He wanted to charge me for install. It has to be taken up because there is still work to be done that could damage flooring. He also never worked a full day, only a few hours. His sheetrock has to be ripped out as it was not done correctly. He is not qualified to do sheetrock and he knew this before he began project. He also put up green board in bathroom that was not done correctly. All sheetrock will need to be demolished and replaced which he needs to pay for the materials. He also needs to pay to have flooring taken up as he was instructed not to install it. While he was here, he was combative, manipulative, excusing self or refusing to answer basic questions, defensive. the money paid was paid to Crystal Davis whom he claimed was his wife. The last day, as he demanded more money, he had already packed all his equipment (unstbeknown to me) and knew he would not be returning. Therefore, he Stole my money, premeditated crime. I have all the pictures of his work. After I filed claim with Angies i received an email from him stating I had terminated contract. Not true. Why would I terminate a contract after I just paid 35% down? If you subtract payment of 500 from contract amount of 2465.50 the balance is what he charged me 35% for which equals the 690. he was paid. This individual should not be allowed on the streets let alone working in peoples homes. I have filed a lawsuit against this individual. I am asking for all my money back as well as cost of demo and new materials to replace the material he used incorrectly.
Response from The Flooring Chef
"Dear [Member Name Removed] Thank you for your review.First off, you and I both know that this review is incorrect and defamatory. ( Good thing we have great record keeping) The Flooring Chef came out to your property and talked with you about the various projects you had. ( And listen to you complaint about 3 others pro you hired that did work prior to me) We wrote up an estimate and sat in your living room and went over every detail and then agreed on a price. On every invoice we ask for 35% of total labor cost at the end of day one.( This is on the contract) We agreed that we would work on your project for 2 days without our 35%, so you can see the work we do and on Monday we will be paid 35% of total balance. ( Again we agreed to this) You, [Member Name Removed], wanted us to start your project on the same day we came out for estimate, so that's what we did. After spending 2 and a half hours talking with you we went to work on hanging all the sheetrock in the master bedroom, master closet, and hung green board on 2 walls in the master bathroom ( Had to wait on Plummer and electrician to come complete their projects) To be at your house on day one for only 2 hours that is pretty good. Saturday, day two, we arrived at your property at 11 am after having to stop at a supply store to pick up materials for you.We hung a huge dinning room light, ceiling fan and light fixtures in bedroom, mud and tape drywall, and fix fence ( which was not part of our contract for free) so your dogs could play out in the back yard. Sunday we was off. Monday, we arrived at your property at 10 am and the first thing we did was discuss payment owed and amount due at the end of the day. ( again we agreed that you owed us 35% of the total balance at 10 am in the morning) We sanded the 1st coast of mud and applied the 2nd coast, we hung 2 curtain rod ( in cement walls), and installed 200 sq ft of flooring. At 5 pm when we was done we asked for payment and you, [Member Name Removed], refused, so we packed up all our tools."
