They picked up and tried to fix a part of our couch. At first they were great: down to earth and knowledgeable but when the repair proved be difficult things took a turn. At first, they would communicate with me sporadically when I reached out but now they've had our furniture since November (it's April) and have stopped responding to calls, texts and online requests for information. We paid them for their service at the beginning but now they still have our furniture and our money and will not respond. I can no longer recommend their services though I would revisit this opinion if they resumed contact and we could solve this problem.

Worst experience I have ever had. He promised to complete the work in 2 weeks, 7 months later it took Fox 4 Problem Solvers and a negative TV report before he would even return the cabinet. The cabinet was simple spray painted over the original finish, even the hardware was sprayed over. The spray paint did not even cover the original finish. All of the "new" glass doors were cracked. Opened the glass door and it fell off the cabinet. STAY AWAY form this man and his partner Francis Kohen!!!! They destroyed a family air loom and a fine piece of furniture.
Response from The Furniture Fixer
"Mrs. [Member Name Removed] has not been representing the job or the magnitude of the work done. This was not just a refinishing job. This was a total makeover of a traditional cherry china cabinet of the 80's to a contemporary cabinet painted off white with black trim. At first all went well. We explained we were behind and the job would take some time, but, we would get it done. She wanted all of the doors replaced with 1/4 inch glass, the raised panel doors along the bottom replaced with flat doors. She was going to get new hardware for the cabinet. I will admit that I am ashamed and embarrassed that the job took as long as it did. But I am also pleased with the job done and many people have looked at it and agreed. However, Mrs [Member Name Removed] could not decide on the color of off white she wanted on the cabinet. The glass I ordered, and we both agreed that it would have to be paid for up front, would take time to be custom cut. I had no idea how long that would take. The glass also came in the wrong size twice and needed to be redone. That took time also. Then things went bad to worse. I was accused of stealing the cabinet. I sent pictures showing it was safe and also stopped by the house so she could approve the color and the paint job on one of the drawers. I kept getting harassing phone calls with a lot of threats, cussing, and overall slander. I offered to bring the cabinet back and not charge her anything. She refused. I was also told in July that she had bought a new china cabinet and didn't want it anymore. So I put it in the back and started working on other projects Imagine my surprise when I am contacted by a local TV station regarding the cabinet. It was a quick conversation with a reporter. I wasn't even asked my side of the story. I apologized for the delay and I would have it delivered in a few days. I finished putting the glass in the cabinet, sent pictures of the finished cabinet to the TV station and to Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. I also arranged for it to be delivered by a professional moving company. When the moving company called to schedule the delivery, she cussed them out and the movers called and refused to do the delivery. I gave her the job at no charge except for the glass that I had to buy. It was apparent I was not going to be able to please this woman. It was delivered and I heard nothing back. The movers said the delivery went well. There are obviously other issues in Mrs [Member Name Removed]'s life other than a china cabinet. I know I did a professional job and I asked many for their opinion before it was delivered. Most said they would not have done such a drastic makeover, but, It looked real good. I tried everything I could think of to please this woman. In over 30 years of doing this business, I have never been treated so rude and dealt with someone that has so much anger and vindictiveness. I wish her well and hope she gets help with her internal demons she is facing."

He came the next day and fixed the couch in our living room. We were very happy with his work and happier yet that we didn't have to be put on a waiting list!

We we surprised how quickly Dave responded to our call, how quickly he worked us in and how promptly he arrived as promised. It was clear to us that he knew his stuff and was able to fix our problem for the ball park estimate he provided by phone ... what we felt to be a reasonable price. Not only that, he went beyond the expected, called the place where we bought the piece and requested a new mechanism, feeling that it probably wasn't right from the time of purchase since it never was a smooth as the corresponding recliner on the other end. We are waiting for a price from the store for the replacement part and Dave promises to return and install it for no extra charge. We will definitely call him again and recommend him to anyone in need.

We called David Roberts after reading the reviews. He gave us a timeframe to expect him at our home. He promptly arrived, gave a reasonable quotation first. then fixed the chair there and then. We were very happy with his work.

The Furniture Fixer was the first repair business that bothered to call me back, and I was truly appreciative. When we talked that Saturday, he said he could come right out. The timing and price had me over the moon.

One chair repair went fantastically, and one was just good. I had hoped to keep both recliners from leaning all the way back when I reclined. It worked on the newer of the two chairs. Even though he verified it was fixed before he left, I guess my sitting in "demo mode" was different than just sitting back to watch TV. As soon as I went to recline in the older chair, it went all the way back.

Given the price and promptness, I accepted that maybe the older chair just wasn't meant to be perfect without putting more money into it.

I would recommend the Furniture Fixer to others.
When I described the issue on the phone, a dowel that connected two supporting parts of the frame had come out, he actually stated the brand of the recliner. This impressed me as to his knowledge about the repair he would be doing. He arrived the same day as when I called. He was polite and professional. He went right to work and efficiently repaired the recliner. He found that both sides of the horizontal frame were broken. He reset and glued the dowels and replaced L-Brackets on both sides with heavier duty brackets. The charges were exactly as initially stated.
