David and Cindy were prompt both times they were here. They cleaned up after each project. They were sensitive to the fact that we had a cat that could not go outdoors and our air conditioning and closed doors to the outside each time they went in and out. I really appreciated that! <br /> The $500 is an approximate amount as they are sending me a corrected invoice. We thought they would have to replace tiles in each bathroom after my plumber had put in new vanities but did not, so the first estimate is being lowered. I gave a "good" rating (as opposed to "excellent" rating) on the price because I don't know what the finished total will be. I'm guessing they'll charge the going rate for a professional handyman. <br /> I had read on Angie's List that communication was some times a issue but I did not experience that AT ALL. We did the majority of our communication through e-mail and they always answered my e-mails promptly. I had to juggle the dates for them to come because of other work being done and they went with the flow. <br />

Excellent service.David came over and gave me a professional, itemized estimate that they stuck to. I asked for more services than I needed, and David was the only one of three estimates to tell me I didn't really need all that (honesty!) <br /> Juan and Marcos did most of the work, and they did an outstanding job. Juan is an expert drywall man. His attention to detail is very impressive. The guys did a great job from start to finish, including cleanup. Really, just everything was excellent. Not much more I can say. <br /> I have some more work I need done and I'm looking forward to having Juan back again. <br />

We're using The Golden Rule again this summer. His price is good. The quality of his work is very good. They're hard to get in touch with, but they're really, really good.

Everything went well, the work on the drywall around the fridge went well and met my expectations, since this was a more unique request.  The owner provided the estimate and followed up on the work, his worker worked alone, but it appeared he uses the same consistent workers on all his  work.  He cleaned up the area and all the work met my expectations. <br />

Cindy and David plus all their crew where a pleasure to work with. They were very hands-on throughout the entire project making sure that everything was going the way we wanted it. Their first visit was very soon after our call and the quote was on time. The work went according to schedule and I cannot think of one negative thing about the experience. At the end they not only swept the floor but also mopped it! We would certainly use them again. <br />

They did a great job giving me a detailed quote and they took care of selecting the doors. I told them what I was looking for and my desired price range... and they picked the right stuff. I am an engineer and fairly hard to please with craftsmanship... I typically do most of the repairs myself but I just don't have the time anymore. I felt like these guys did a really good quality job at a fair price. The extra work that was performed (floor rot) was very reasonable and done the right way. I would recommend them for sure. <br />

I originally contacted The Golder Rule (David and Cindy) about repairing <br /> a sagging/bouncy kitchen floor.. They were very quick to return my call <br /> and set up an appointment to arrange an estimate. After an initial <br /> inspection they recommended that I have a structural engineering <br /> inspection and plan as I was wanting to install granite counter tops.  <br /> Once the inspection and plans were in hand,  David  provided an estimate <br /> for the structural work and also arranged for an estimate for my <br /> counter-tops. The costs for the repairs were very reasonable and I also <br /> ended up using them for the granite installation as they were several <br /> hundred dollars cheaper than my other quotes.   All the work was <br /> completed within 3 weeks or the estimate and decision to go and I could <br /> not be happier! <br />

I plan to sell my home in a year or two and had a home inspection completed 8/30 to learn if there were any issues that needed to be addressed prior to listing it.  I was departing 10/2 for a two month absence and  I hoped to have some of the repairs completed prior to my departure.  I contacted four handyman services immediately after the inspection, and met with representatives of three of them, David Eakes of Golden Rule being one of the three.  At each meeting, I emphasized the time constraints.  David emailed me a detailed estimate within two days, the others took 10 days or more.  He and his assistant were able to begin work on Monday, 9/24.  All week, he kept me informed of their progress and discussed any additional work needed and obtained my approval before beginning.  Unfortunately, they weren't able to get quite everything done before my departure, but we were able to make arrangements for the work to be completed in my absence.  I am confident that I will be as happy with the work done while I am away as I am with that done while I was here.  I plan to use them again to make further repairs/updates before putting the house on the market. <br />

David and Cindy performed work on our home multiple times during the process of preparing it for sale.  They took the time to go over the entire pre-inspection report with us, separated out some of the smaller items we could do ourselves, explained the work they would do, and made recommendations where necessary.  They were very accommodating, professional, and easy to work with in scheduling and accomplishing a variety of miscellaneous repairs that needed to be done within the necessary timeframe that required multiple visits.  We were extremely happy with the results and were able to sell our home within just a few days of placing it on the market, thanks to much of the work completed by The Golden Rule! <br />

This was a big project and it went as smoothly as we could have hoped for. David and Cindy were good about communicating when additional items were needed and when they had suggestions about existing projects. Work started in January and wrapped up in June. We did some of the work ourselves and it was easy to coordinate the different projects with them. The work they did was great quality and the price was fair. We had a follow-up issue that they were quick to respond to and helped us solve the problem. I'll be calling Golden Rule if and when we start a new home repair project.

This company showed up on time and did an excellent job. Highly recommended.

The Golden Rule repaired termite damage to the floor joists and opened an interior wall/ replaced base boards in the house. I only saw the areas that were worked on before and after, but was impressed with quality of work. The visible damage was gone and the repairs to the wall blend seamlessly with the rest of the room.

They did a wonderful job - some of the jobs made the house look so much better. I wish I had done them before getting ready to move out and rent it!

I was very pleased with their professionalism and responsiveness. They were courteous on the phone and was prompt when arriving at my home. Price was very reasonable and the work performed was outstanding. I will be using them again for any additional home repairs. I was told that the repairs would take two days and that's exactly how long it took. I had requested they used booties to protect our carpet due to allergies in the home and they were very good at doing so.

<br /> I would suggest the use of booties to cover shoes as we do not wear shoes inside our home. Also, they estimated that the job would take 2 days and it only took 1.  I think there may have been less work than expected and wondered if the estimate could have been adjusted down.

I use Golden Rule Carpentry all of the time. Specifically, I use them on my personal home and recommend them to my clients. I like them because they will rush out to my house and provide an estimate free of charge. Also, they are very professional, do a good job, have a great attention to detail, and will do whatever it takes to make sure I am satisfied.

Excellent and punctual......

Called to have the drip edge reattached and the siding snapped back in place. It took some time for them to call back and my wife felt the price for the work was a little high but I was glad to not half to clime the ladder.

David and Cindy run a fantastic company.  They are prompt with returning calls and estimates as well as doing top notch work.  They  fixed incomplete work from a prior handyman service we used.  The are the first company that properly cleaned up!!!  I had to call back to get some additional work done and it was no problem.

The workers arrived on time and worked a good part of the day. The quality of the work was excellent all around. They left their work areas clean when complete. The owners were very professional and easy to work with. Compared to other quotes I received for the same work, the total price was competitive. I will use The Golden Rule for other projects in the future.
