Our family noticed a backup in April of this year. We naturally called our favorite plumber, Jon The Plumbing Doctor. They were pretty busy but Jon was able to get his Nephew, Justin out here within a couple days. Justin rooted the sewer and we discovered wipes and roots. It had been a couple of years since they had been out to clean the sewer. Justin and Jon suggested a $150 dollar Rootex treatment. So for $500.00 we thought that was it for a while. It was yesterday that my wife noticed another backup (eight weeks since Justin had been out) in the basement. She called me and I called Jon. He returned my call within an hour, but said he was leaving town and wouldn't be able to help till Monday. He suggested we consider installing an outside clean-out so they could get a six inch blade in there. He was considering recommending another plumber who he said was more expensive (does he get commission?) to get us functioning again. I contacted several plumbers and discovered somebody who came out and worked until 11pm last night. He rooted the same sewer and pulled 4-5 handfuls of roots out from about 25-30 feet out in the yard. Apparently The Plumbing Doctor didn't do a very good job this last time. I understand issues, but I am a business man and I stand behind my work. Feel like Jon has become like so many plumbers (bummers), tired and lazy. Just my thoughts. We have been remodeling our kitchen and that plumbing work would have gone to Jon, but now it appears like the Scottish Plumber gets the work.

I usually don't look forward to giving reviews because if I can't give a stellar review I'd rather not give any review -- just my nature. But with the Plumbing Doctor I have never had a better customer service experience than I had with John and his staff.

I had a pretty bad leaky outdoor faucet and when I saw the Big Deal for an outdoor faucet replacement I did an impulse buy hoping that's what I needed. John got back to me within the 2 days the deal said he would and we made an appointment within the next few days.

His serviceperson arrived on time and went to work. That's when we had a problem. When he was trying to change the assembly, it broke off inside of the wall between the inside and outside walls due to the way it was originally installed. He said he would have to open up my inside walls to get to it, which to me was not so much the problem as it was to getting to the wall as I have a one piece desk-hutch unit that hugs that corner of the wall and basically is non-moveable. Lucian (the plumber) had John call me and said even though opening up walls is not part of the basic service, they would cover it because the pipe broke while the technician was working on it. Whew! I was not ready for major plumbing expenses for a leaky faucet.

Lucian had to take apart some panels under my desk and make 2 holes in the wall before he able to fix and replace the broken section of pipe. When he was finished he said I would have to get someone else to fix the holes as he didn't know how to do that. I was a little disappointed but more concerned that mice or bugs would come in from the outside. About an hour later John called to ask if I was happy with the work done and I told him I still had holes in my wall, he said he wanted me to be "100% satisfied" and said he would send someone over to get them patched. Since that was a Friday, I received a call on Monday from a different gentleman who made an appointment for the next day to finish the job. He brought pieces of drywall and spackle and finished the job. He offered to come back when the plaster dried to sand it down but I told him not to bother that I would worry about it when I repainted the room since the patching was hidden behind the desk panel. He put everything back, cleaned up and wanted to make sure I was a satisfied customer. I cannot believe it. These guys were really concerned about getting the job done, on time and correctly. I would trust them with any plumbing job in the future. And, by the way, the faucet works great and doesn't leak!

It took him less than 5 minutes and he gave me recommendations both on flushing and type of toilet paper to use (going to have to give up my Charmin habit). The bathroom was cleaned up and sanitized afterwards.
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
We went from having a small drip to larger drip, and a larger drip and now the temperature gauge on our shower is set wrong and the water is overheated. We can't use our shower! After 2 plumbers, 4 VISITS (yes, 4!) and $400+ later our shower is not only NOT fixed, it's FAR WORSE that it EVER WAS to BEGIN WITH! Each time they came back, we were left with a BIGGER problem! They took things apart that they didn't seem to know how to put back together. This was the OPPOSITE of a REPAIR!
Response from The Plumbing Doctor
"[member name removed] Yes replaced had four separate visits to your home,as we tried to replace all the parts in your grohe unit several times. We replaced the thermostatic unit twice ( this handles the temp) we replaced the handle that was stripped from use ( this turns it on and off) we replaced the stops and all with just one visit charge of $125. The rest that was charged was parts at cost to you, also took an additional $154 out of my pocket to replace the stops and $66 for the stripped trim that was you were not asked to pay. I showed the metal pieces that came from somewhere other then your valve that may have been a cause of the leak to your husband. I also discussed replacing the valve with another at below cost to replace. I strive to make everyone happy and believe I have done my best to get this repaired but have been unable to because of an unforeseen problem that exists with the valve or the parts. Again, I have replace all the parts to your shower unit and have done this with the correct parts from grohe. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

John showed up after 5pm which was great for us, because we didn't need to take off time from work. When he arrived he told us had done work in the building before and knew what had happened. It took him less than 10 minutes to fix the issue. Having worked on other units in the past he was able to give us advice on how to avoid future issues that were common in our building. Friendly, knowledgeable, affordable.
This guy is the man! I called him because my kitchen sink was leaking and my disposal sounded like it was dying. He came out and super honest and professional. He fixed the garbage disposal in about 30 seconds and then looks at my pipping. He told me that I needed new pipes under the sink and have me an estimate of $250. He then went to bathroom sink bc it was also leaking and told me I needed a new faucet. He came back 1 week later and replaced All of it! The pipes were $250 and the faucet was $250 (because he had to buy it and then install it) I will use him all the time moving forward!

Did the job. Did not discuss pricing until after arriving. For the visit it costs $75 just to show up and not perform anything. Was trying to consistently sell other things then service requested. Did the job.
Response from The Plumbing Doctor
"(removed member name) My name is (removed member name) and I was the plumber who had serviced your home. You had called to have a garbage disposal replaced since you believed that the current one was broken, this was not the case. The garbage disposal was clogged/jammed and only needed to be unjammed, which We did. We did not charge you a $75 service fee.We did charge you to replace the leaking tubular trap connected to your garbage disposal. We also did not look around your home looking to sell you any additional services on purpose, but your kitchen faucet was leaking all over your countertop and down into your cabinet below, I only meant to prevent further damage to your rental unit . Your bill was lower then the quote given to you verbally over the phone. Thank you The Plumbing Doctor"

. The first visit-. After reviewing the choices on Angies list, I read the reviews for the plumbing doctor and decided to call. John answered the phone immediately, and agreed to come fix the issue the next morning which was a Saturday!! Asked me to text the info to him, gave me a time range he was going to arrive and texted 10 minutes before arrival. Evaluated issue and fixed the clog immediately. Cleaned up after work completed and as stated above gave pointers on how to avoid future problems. Second visit of repairing tub in another condo. Again was flexible with range of times. Worked around my schedule. Due to unusual turn off valves for my condo unit, John had to return 3 times without issue and fixed the issue within 20 minutes and also checked the toilet and found that there was an issue as well and fixed it immediately without coming back for an additional visit. Worked well with our condo management company and our maintenance guy Knowledgeable, timely, efficient and communicated throughout both issues. Would definitely use again and would highly recommend.
Since I had just used John for a previous issue. I immediately called him to figure out next steps. He recommended some brands and suggested some stores. I selected a toilet which he picked up and installed. I am delisted with the job he did and his installing it so quickly.
