Nightmare of a project. To highlight just ONE item, the rough-in plumbing had a 90 degree elbow to receive a threaded nipple from the hand-held. Although I had a backer 2x4 behind the elbow, they failed to secure it as required by code to the elbow. When they screwed the body spray unit on, they drew the elbow away from the backer, so the elbow was no longer at 90 degrees, and the body spray escutcheon does not sit flush to the wall. More importantly, this produced a side load on the elbow, and the nipple became harder to screw in as the elbow drew away from the backer. When I used the body spray for a period of time, I got a major water leak through the downstairs ceiling requiring major repair. That is, the body spray met increasing resistance as it was screwed in and the elbow pulled away from the backer, to the point it couldn't seal properly. Paul denied there was a problem stating that the body spray was screwed in until it was hard to turn it any more. That wasn't because it was seated properly, it was because there was a side load on the junction. I paid for the ceiling repair because I was tired of arguing with him over proper installation. I had a professional come in, secure the elbow, properly seat the body spray, and haven't had a problem since. Oh, one more item, he came over with a sealer to seal the floor. I stepped away for about 3 minutes, came back and he states the sealing was already done. I knew he was lying so I just sealed it myself after he left. Just an awful experience.

We hired Paul Bender, owner of The Tile Artisan, to remodel our master bathroom and were very happy that we did. His price was competitive and his entire team was professional, courteous and hardworking. We were very pleased with the work done and with the professionalism and communication that occurred throughout the process. Paul frequently made suggestions which improved the final outcome. We are thrilled with the finished bathroom and would not hesitate to recommend the Tile Artisan!

Paul (owner) and his team did a fantastic job installing the porcelain tile planks in the basement. Pricing was competitive. Installers were on time, professional & cleaned up well. Would definitely hire again and recommend.

Workers arrived exactly on time Monday morning and worked the expected schedule of five days but needed to complete the work on a Saturday due to demolition work taking longer than expected. They rebuilt some rotted framing and completely rebuilt the shower pan moving the drain. The Tile Artisan partners with Modern Glass Designs to provide the estimate of the new glass shower door. We utilized Modern Glass Designs for the new door.

Great! Paul promptly made to our home and gave us a detailed estimate. He understood our urgency and promptly worked us into their project schedule. Paul's team did a superb job tiling our 2 bathrooms and replacing a shower door. We, our realtor, and prospective buyers were impressed, and we received a full-price offer. We highly recommend The Tile Artisan; thanks for a job well done!

Paul Bender and his team do incredible work. Paul helped us remodel a number of bathrooms, from flooring, to decorative tile, new plumbing and lighting. Paul worked with us every step of the way. He was incredibly responsive, attentive to details, and oriented to ensure homeowners receive the best outcomes for their projects. All installers are professionals, arriving on time and cleaning workspaces each day, and communicate regularly with homeowners on status and plans. They are excellent crafts people and really excel at everything, but especially tile installation. The are real artists that pull together a plan that takes into consideration the nuances of your unique spaces. Paul offers creative ideas based on his years of experience. He has wonderful cabinet solutions that are stylish and made very well. His prices are fair and his customer service is outstanding. I would highly recommend Paul and the Tile Artisan for your bath or kitchen remodel.

This review is long overdue. My wife and I recently trusted Paul Bender and his team at The Tile Artisan to remodel our kitchen to include new flooring, cabinets, backsplash, counter, and appliances. Paul worked diligently to get the project within our budget and we could not be more pleased with the results. The kitchen now looks stunning compared to what it was originally. We had used Tile Artisan previously to re-do our bathrooms and got outstanding results with those projects as well. Paul is responsive and takes his customers inputs seriously. We recommend Tile Artisan!

GREAT! We would hire this company again and plan to do so in the near future with our kitchen flooring. The owner is very knowledgeable with all types of tile and very responsive. Each morning the workers were on time, layed floor covering over our carpet and cleaned up after themselves every evening. The job site superintendent arrived daily to review progress, answer questions and remove trash from the previous days work. During our floor install we were short several pieces of marble and the owner was able to locate the needed pieces within 2 hours- resulting in no delay to the completion.
This was the BEST experience we have ever had with a
contractor. Based on Angie?s List
reviews, we chose Paul Bender, the Tile Artisan, to remodel our large master
bathroom. We are very glad we did!
We were happy to get the team of Willy and Genaro to do the
work. Willy, the lead installer, is a
true artisan. His precision and
attention to detail are exceptional. Willy?s
artistic flair and precision tiling made the bathroom look like a spa in an
upscale resort. The 12 x 24 porcelain
floors, with very small grout lines, portray the appearance of a seamless
expanse of cerma marfil marble. The
shower tile, laid in a diamond pattern, along with the listello and tiled
shower pan, bring a sense of tranquility to the room.
Our master bathroom is rather large, about 10? x 20?. The work consisted of demolition down to the
studs; securing the subfloor, expanding the shower about 2 feet (including
moving the shower piping and drain); building a kneewall; tiling the entire
floor of the bathroom, a closet and water closet; building a tiled shower pan,
tiling the shower wall, installing new baseboards and reinstalling the toilet.
The work went very well.
Willy and Genaro are very focused and talented hard workers. They are also very nice people. They took very good care of our home
throughout the process. The owner, Paul
Bender and Josh the project manager were extremely accessible and helpful. They are very good problem solvers. They have great ideas and always promptly
returned our phone calls whenever we had questions or were seeking advice. Paul even included a complementary sealing of
our marble pencil tile and marble shelves.
The price was not the highest bid we received nor the
lowest. But we believe we got
exceptional value for our money.
Based on our experience, we enthusiastically recommend (and
have recommended) The Tile Artisan for remodeling.
This was our second tile job done by The Tile Artisan, and we were not disappointed. While they are not the least expensive bid, they do quality work to justify it. They ensure that the job is done to our satisfaction. This job they send out Chris to do the construction and tile work. This guy seems like he could build a whole house, if you asked him. He seemed so delicate about revealing the damage that was present below our existing wood flooring. Once I explained I had a good idea how bad it was going to be, he dug in and made sure that it was rebuilt correctly.
During the job, we had an issue with the first pedestal sink, which we had purchased on our own. Paul was a great help with getting the vendor to credit us for the sink. He has a good relationship with many of the vendors in the area where we often get plumbing and tile supplies, so it's helpful when you have unexpected issues pop up during the job. That's the other good thing about Paul and his crew, they always seem to take the problems that pop up in stride.
Everyone who sees our house, raves about the tile work we've had done. We're looking forward to the next job with The Tile Artisan.
This was an unexpected expense (we weren't planning on doing a bathroom remodel) in our current renovation, and we had to do it on short notice. Paul came in and met with us, gave us an honest reading of what we could expect, the cost, what his guys would do, etc. He came in at least twice, if not more (on a four-day project) to check on the progress and ensure we were happy with the results. He worked with The Tile Shop (where we got our tile) to order additional supplies and at the end of the job we were left with minimal overage. The finished bath is spectacular! They did an outstanding, quality job. The grouting and tiling is seamless and even. They even fixed a bowed wall in the bath that was not part of the project and didn't have any effect on the tiling, but they did it because it looked better. On top of that, it had been freshly painted, and they repainted it. Our house was kept clean, they worked non-stop from 7:30AM to at least 5:30 at night, every night, with only a small break for lunch. And Paul, very helpfully, was able to arrange for these guys to come in to do the work on very short notice to help us out. The cost - while higher than we had initially expected - was less than other estimates and was well-worth it given the quality of the work and their ability to get this done within a short time frame. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and will use them again in the future for any other tile work!
