While Keith is quite knowledgeable in his trade and at one time completed the work himself, it's quite evident he has an "A" and "B" team working for him. Our project went more than 10 days past the estimated completion date and they started 10 days before the estimated start date (there was a period of almost 2 weeks where no one worked at our house a single day and our deck was completely torn apart with building supplies taking over a section of our backyard grass). Keith did try to go above and beyond by obtaining some reclaimed granite to make my grill area a bit more sophisticated. Again, Keith knows how a job should be done but I clearly got the "B" or maybe even "C" team. Poor craftsmanship, corners cut and a stain job that was embarrassing to call professional left a real sour taste in my mouth. The kids he has working for him basically used my deck project as a training program. I eventually asked Keith to knock off a couple hundred bucks from the final payment because I could wrap up the staining myself 10 times better than his guys (which I've since started but not yet completed). I expected to be "wowed" with this project and after Keith said to me "I don't think I could ever truly satisfy you" I know the time to cut bait was then. There were numerous un-stained parts of the project and too many touch ups to note (e.g. Where you could clearly see the wood or previous paint under what they "painted"). Oh, and there is now deck paint on some of the wood siding of my house (again, sloppy job). Looking at the job after it was "done", i noticed many more corners that were cut - literally and figuratively. The railroad ties are not level (sloping severely down) and the cuts around the stairs are not even the same on both sides - making it look sloppy and uneven. Oh and there is so much sand now on my brick patio that I'm tempted to re-do it myself - and there's huge chunks of polymer missing and weeds coming through already... What Keith promised sounded awesome and I think with the right crew, I would have been wowed. Now, I'm just glad it's over and happy that it at least looks better than it did before they started. Make sure you're getting the "A" team. You'll know very quickly if you aren't...

Owner Keith is knowlegable and has built many quality decks. This does NOT mean you will get the same. In my case he over-promised and underperformed in almost every aspect considering how simple a deck project this was. He’s a BS-er… likes to talk. This distracts from staying on point or addressing concerns. Promised to knock my 12 X 12 maint-free with railing in two days after getting permit. I had concrete patio guys waiting to schedule based on deck completion and 3 weeks after permit, still no deck. After I became more adamant that further delays would cause me to lose my concrete contractor plus had a graduation party in 3 weeks they finally dug some post holes… then disappeared for 6 more days. He nor his crew guys had any details on what they were supposed to build despite Keith and I having several meetings and a contract. I had to go over the design again. The day they started Keith informs me the color decking I contracted for was not in stock, was a 1-2 week special order. So he purchased a darker in-stock color. I had to accept that or be screwed on time. It wasn’t terrible… but I was peeved NOT what we agreed. I’ll summarize rest of issues here: Very novice 2-man crew, rough cuts, sloppy drilling, platform step from door was wrong needed re-done. Railing not extended fully (???) along one side and needed redone. Corner angled step was cut too narrow to be useful. The deck surface was built with a pitch towards the back yard. (Decks are supposed to be LEVEL). The rails were built square to the deck surface. This caused all the spindles to apper slanted. NOT a good look. A seasoned crew member came out to work with the other guy and I had spindles all adjusted to appear perpendicular to the eye. Keith knew this was not a quality finished product. Gave me a discount on the final payment. I’d rather have a quality built deck without the stress of having issues every step of the way. In fairness almost all (fixable) problems were fixed and unless you look closely you don't notice the rough workmanship. But the process was unsatisfactory. Color availability issue unprofessional.

An ?A+? for everything that they did. I know that the pricing was good, cause I had a friend that gave us a quote. I know their pricing was good, they?re reliability, the quality, promptness. There is nothing that you could say negatively about them. They are a fantastic company. Fantastic job. Workers were phenomenal.

They did it, it was rainy, muddy at time. They crawled around through the mud and they tore the old deck out, they put the new deck in. They stained it, power washed it after they installed it. It just couldn?t be any better.

We were looking to add deck and checked with five companies. We chose Ultimate Deck due to the conversations we had with the owner Keith. Keith took the time to sit down with us and answer the many questions we had and gave fact based suggestion to consider no matter who we went with. His pricing was great and we like the work we had seen.
The crew Brian,Matt, Brian's wife and several other arrived and started working. As the project progressed it became evident that they took pride in their work. It was a pleasure to watch the project from start to finish and see master craftsmen at work. I've had other projects done in the past, but Brian and his crew did and excellent job. Their eye for fine details and craftsmanship went far beyond what I had seen in other deck construction. Brian made several suggestions as the project continued that resulted in a beautiful very well constructed deck. We are extremely happy with the results and would recommend Ultimate Deck if you are looking to a deck company.

George and Susan,
Sheffield Village,OH

I had a good experience with them and the guy who wound up helping us was named Brian; he was great. They were punctual, consistent and reasonably priced. Their work was very well done. For the work we had done their bid was three times lower than the lowest bid. They did really well and we were very happy with them.

Before signing a contract with Keith, I interviewed several other reputable deck builders. After considering all the factors involved, such as years of experience, craftsmanship, design, and price, I decided that ‘The Ultimate Deck' offered the best value and quality. Keith answered all my questions and provided excellent advice concerning the design and construction of the deck. All of the carpenters were efficient and courteous. After the crew completed the project, I was completely satisfied with the results. All of the work was done in a timely and professional manner. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family.
