"We're very sorry this Angie'[Member Information Removed] List member feels this way. But we can't help but feel she is frustrated because of the situation the previous owner left the house in: many code deficiencies and non-permitted work. Our company was called by this member into this project, and we inherited a red-tagged permit from a previous owner. We jumped through all the "hoops" the local City put this owner through to rectify this non-code compliance (2 engineers, an electrical company, carpentry, stucco, drywall & insulation were all required by the City). No one could anticipate what the City required to be done until the City completed all inspections throughout the course of the entire job. But we did try to minimize costs to the owner by performing many of the tasks in-house, instead of subcontracting much of the work. And we tried to accommodate this member in every way, including extending her credit to finish the code requirements when she fell short of funds. We charged her zero interest for this credit. Again, we believe this member is frustrated by the precarious situation she inherited from the previous owner. We can't believe she is ungrateful for all the favors our staff tried to do on her behalf."
"Our company built a custom home for this Angie's member in 2014, finishing in early 2015. There were some issues the member had with their own design - for instance the A-C closet door they mention. This was their own approved design from an independent architect. They simply didn't like the A-C closet & door after it was built. Normal punch lists were all satisfied during the warranty period. We received written notification from this member that all punch list items were satisfied on August 7, 2015. This member seems to be confused about the distinction between normal homeowner maintenance work and warranty items. We feel we have gone out of our way to perform minor repairs, AND maintenance work (not our responsibility) at this home well after the construction was finished. Months after construction had ended, we received a call from the member about a sliding glass door panel which had just burst. We immediately dispatched our field superintendent who inspected the door and saw that this was an obvious break due to being hit with furniture or some other object . Despite our opinion, we turned this issue over to the national manufacturer of the Florida product-approved hurricane/impact door. The rep from the manufacturer inspected the door later and stated that a collision with a sharp object from INSIDE the home caused the breakage. Communication with this Angie's List member deteriorated after this time, to the point where the member has been issued a trespass warning by the local police department to remain away from our company office."
"Tisdale Construction Inc. consistently aims to provide our customers with quality work and customer service. The 8 week timeline and contract line items were discussed at length and in great detail with this member before the contract was signed and work commenced. Reviewing the contract in detail is a standard in any business and the responsibility of the customer. “Extras” are costs incurred after commencement and are never charged without express direction and approval of the customer. It is inevitable that customers who are new to the construction process will become anxious about timeline and costs - hence the abundance of this member’s emails. We do our best to ease concerns and inform the homeowner at every turn; within reason. Construction is dependent upon many interlocking schedules, weather, and procedures and is regrettably not predictable to the novice’s content."
"This Angie's List member is very "challenging." We have not lost anyone, but the superintendent who supervised this project was so annoyed and antagonized by this customer that he refused to do anymore work at the site. This project closed out in early October of last year. We were also warned that our rating for this project on this web site would be lowered (which has happened, from a "B" originally) if we did not do perform certain things exactly to a precise dictated timetable. We're sure this will not be the end of the critiquing process by this member."
