Thomas Jacinto Lopez contacted me on Sept 16th about my request to Angi for landscaping project I put out on Sept 11, 2023. I told him I was in need of a new fence but that I had already found someone to do the landscaping work. He told me they do fences, turf, garage epoxy, which are all projects I had been wanting to do to my house. We agreed if I did all 3 projects, he would do the job for $10,000 cash. After he came in town, he kept adjusting the price for different reasons. He told me his bank account was frozen and in order to keep his guys (who were all staying at a hotel here in Amarillo), he needed to pay them well so they wouldn’t leave to go back to their families. He said he needed the money to buy the expensive materials, but again, he never delivered the materials. The garage epoxy job was completely half-assed and they never finished. They used the wrong materials and his photos he showed me of “his” work were all copied from the internet after I did a reverse Google search on the photos. They had no clue what they were doing, but TJ kept assuring me he would have it fixed and not to worry, but still needed more money. After a series of $1,500 VENMO, $1,600 cash, then he needed $6,000 cash. Begged me on the phone. He told me my job wouldn’t get completed if I didn’t give the money. On Oct 12th, I withdrew $6k from my bank account. A few days later, he asked for another $3,000 cash. I asked him repeatedly for an invoice and to revise the contract he had made which was originally just for the $4,000 fence project (with a $1,500 down payment which I paid through VENMO). He never revised my contract. Instead, he knocked on my neighbors door and conned them just like he did to me. He got them for $8,000 doing the same thing. Needing the money upfront, no contract, nothing. TJ is a PROFESSIONAL con artist. He has been in jail with a felony on his record (I found out much later) for doing the same thing to others! After TJ first contacted me, I looked him up on Angi list and he was a verified contractor! Which means Angi did a background search on him? But yet, his felony charge for scamming people was overlooked? This story is so long and I have tons of proof of the horrible quality of work he did. How my house and my neighbors house is in shambles. It’s awful. This man needs to go back to prison for what he did. He is also a most wanted felon in El Paso, TX! I have told TJ to work with me through Angi arbitration so we don’t spend more money on legal fees. Hopefully he will agree to doing this.. Long story short, TJ Lopez has built his life in construction around conning people. He wins their trust by his “charming salesman personality.” He then gets you to agree to more and more projects that he never finishes. He used the cheapest materials possible and doesn’t pay his workers. So his workers quit on him, he has all of this money to pay in debts I’m assuming. He has no soul. No good person would ever do this as a living. He is no man and God and karma will punish him. Just hoping to recoup my $12,200 I paid him for the shittiest job anyone could ever do. None of the materials I paid for are here. It’s costing me 2x the amount of money to fix his problems. It’s a mess!

TJ'S Construction was a great hire. They responded to all of our remodeling needs. Contractor was very professional and addressed every concern of my job.

Well, when I called and left my name, he turned around and call me and he said I take care of my creek list customers anything I wasn’t serious about getting the job done that I was calling about not to be calling him because he was too busy to talk to me unless I was really serious about getting the job done well I had wanted to put Artificial turf in my front yard in my backyard because I’m 72 years old and I do not have time and the energy to get out there and mow so I set up an appointment for him to come and give me an estimate. He started out with 16,000 to do my front yard and he said well oh maybe you should do your backyard as well. It will be another $8000 and I can have it done in 2 to 3 weeks max well that didn’t happen, every time he showed up and did half days work he wanted me to pay him more money and so before it was all over with I was at $30,000 and still my yard wasn’t done and when I made the statement that I wasn’t going to pay him any more money until he finished all of the work that I had already paid him for he never came back at that point he took my paint sprayer my 12 foot ladder and a wheel barrel with him and never returned them. He claim that the sprayer needed to be clean. it was the first time that sprayer had been used , he said he was taking it to big Spring to get it fixed. No he was taking it to big Spring to do another job that he had already promised somebody using my equipment so I would like for him to come back and finish my backyard because I’ve already finished the front yard. I had to pay somebody else to come finish that and part of the contract was for him to do my backyard. I think I am being fair enough. I need him to come and finish my backyard like he had told me he was going to do. He’s not a very honest person if you can’t do it and won’t do it .

TJ construction did not finish the job. TJ promised to take care of the lawn for 90 days after sodding. The sod that was installed was the wrong grass and more than 1/3 of the sod is dead. The workers left the sod for days in the pallets before installing. TJ is daddy at best. I would advise anyone considering this company to be weary and not pay till project is complete. TJ also blamed his workers instead of taking ownership of the mishaps. The awning that was installed over our porch leaks and the stain on our porch was incomplete. The acid was left too long and the top coat is already chipping after 2 months. Should TJ construction make good on the contract I will update this rating and review.

That is the worse Contractor or Handyman you could hire. Although he came late on our first appointment, we gave him the benefit of the doubt . We had less expensive quotes but went with him because he claimed he could do the whole remodel. We laid our expectation from the beginning, We told him that we won't pay for work not done. He wanted us to give him a payment before the written contract but we refused. Once he finally brought the contract, he stipulated that we need to give him a third to start and the rest due on completion. He came to my office and had me write two checks for the total. One was under his company name and the other one under an individual who he claimed to be his wife. He started the demo very quick, maybe to impress us. Once he received the payment, he started not to show up and claimed once that his guys have car trouble. Two days after we gave him the payment he called and asked for a $6,000 draw. We refused because: 1- That is not what the contract said. 2- We don't feel that he has done enough to justify the almost $ 20,000 we gave him. He told us that he could get the whole thing done in two weeks . He deserted the job site just 5 days after he received the checks. I gave him an opportunity to finish the work on our original terms but he is yet to show up. His deadline to show up and compete the job was today. Therefore, I am hiring someone else tomorrow. I will be sure not to hire anyone from Angi's List. Lesson learned. If they were busy enough with good referrals, I don't think they would need to be on Angi's. Be aware that this guy can be very convincing but in the end he is just looking for an easy target. Save yourself some headache and protect your pocket book steer clear of this company. if you want to take your chance with him, make sure that you don't give him a penny before the work is complete.
