Tony's Lawn & Garden did such a great job on our patio and landscaping. Tony was so patient with all of my last minute changes, and he was incredibly responsive to all of my emails and phone calls. His price was much better than the other people we interviewed. I highly recommend Tony's Lawn & Garden!

When Tony and his crew finished my house sold in one day. My landscaping was beautiful. The street appeal of our house was what brought in so many perspective buyers. Tony has been caring for our landscaping before this for about 10 years. The quality of the mulch used was the best. The pruning of the trees and bushes was perfect. The workers were always pleasant. Clean up was always perfect. I'm looking forward to having Tony design the landscaping for my new house.
The project went very orderly and was started and completed in the time frame we were given. Tony and his crew arrived promptly each day by the time we were given. They worked each day generally until dusk, they cleaned up the worksite each day before leaving and let my wife or myself know what the plan was for the next day before leaving. All employees were cordial, respectful, and professional. We did have to make a couple of minor changes throughout the process to avoid buried electrical lines and power to pool equipment. In each instance, Tony presented the issues to us and provided us with possible solution(s) to the issues. We are very happy with the overall look and construction of the steps and retaining wall. In fact, some of the changes Tony recommended during the process enhanced the final visual appearance of the project without compromising its structural integrity. We've used Tony's Lawn and Garden several times over the past five years and we've always been extremely pleased with the results. This latest project was the largest we've done to date.
We have used Tony and his staff for many years because his work is first-rate, his staff are experienced and have been with him for at least several years and he stands behind his work. We have had occasion to receive competitive bids and his prices are most reasonable. Since we rely upon this firm for annual service, we have determined that it is important to schedule an appointment early in the year to be assured that the work will be done when needed.
Tony was very responsive and flexible with any changes we made. His work site was always kept clean and he communicated constantly. When we had tree removal work that required an outside contractor, Tony was able to refer one to us and he coordinated it with his own work.

We have been satisfied with every project Tony's Lawn and Garden has done for us. We have used him for 10+ years in many capacities. In the few cases where the lawn wasn't mowed to our satisfaction (due to very wet conditions) he immediately sent his team out to redo it. When a bush they had planted for us was not thriving they replaced the plant without question. Tony's lawn and garden takes pride in the work they do. We have recommended Tony's lawn and garden to lots of people and everyone has been happy with the work they do.

Tony designed most of the landscaping on my property. All of the work was completed in a professional manner. Tony was always available prior to, during and afterward to assist in any way. His workers always showed up on time and were professional. The jobs were completed as scheduled.

On March 11, Tony and I did a complete walk around my property to assess the water flow, tree layout, and land layout (hills on all 4 sides of house) and how to best address the front, side lawn issue as well as bury downspouts to divert water properly away from my house. At this time a soil sample was done to assess soil and grass issues. Tony wrote a simple, incomplete contract and this should have been the first clue to me that his company should not have been given the job.
DON?T ACCEPT HIS CONTRACTS THE WAY HE WRITES THEM! DO NOT BELIEVE HIS GUARANTEES!
On April 11, Tony?s crew placed soil/seed on the front lawn with a Curlex covering (supposedly to hold seed in place.) Numerous other lawn companies indicate that Curlex is only to be used on steep hills (to prevent runoff.) I don?t have a steep hill on the front or side lawn where the soil, seeding was done.
By May 24th, the front lawn had grown enough to have the grass mowed. However, by mid-June the front lawn had started to die off in places where the Curlex seemed to be strangling, smothering the grass. By mid-July, the lawn looked like it had a
disease with more than half of the lawn showing signs of browning from not taking proper root in the soil. Note: this browning was not due to a lack of watering, as Tony claimed, as it was watered and we also had a much wetter spring than in other years. Tony also claimed the Curlex would ?dissolve? over a short time. However, even after 10 months, the Curlex is still on the lawn and has to be cut away to even rake leaves.
In addition, to hiring this company for the lawn soil and seeding, etc., I also paid them to bury 3 downspouts to effectively carry,
move water away from the house. Tony?s crew buried only 2 downspouts and did so incorrectly. One of those downspouts was incorrectly directed to the right back corner of my house where the water pooled under the downspout which they weren?t paid
to bury. The other downspout was directed to my neighbor?s yard, patio area where it flooded his basement.
When I contacted Tony about these issues in the Spring 2014, he tried to extort more monies from me for the job he was already well paid. I gave him the Summer of 2014 to remedy the issues, and he failed to address, correct them. I contacted the BBB in the Fall 2014 to start a complaint against the company. While waiting for BBB to resolve the complaint, Tony told another lawn company to come to my home (whereby they trespassed on my property) to do a consult (at Tony?s instigation) as to what were the issues with my lawn. This ?consult? company wrote an e-mail to Tony saying I had grubs in the lawn!
However, I had already hired a reputable lawn company which had done a formal report of my soil, lawn and indicated there were NO SIGNS OF GRUBS ANYWHERE! Tony offered me $100 to not go to arbitration with BBB. I declined as I do not want another person to go through what I went through.
To add to this horrendous fiasco, when I went to BBB arbitration, I lost the case. Not because there wasn?t enough proof of failure to fulfill the guaranteed contract (only 2 downspouts were buried, and those 2 were buried incorrectly; the contract clearly states 3 downspouts will be buried AND guaranteed grass growth.)
I have been informed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) that BBB hires arbitrators to hear BBB cases against businesses which pay to be listed in the BBB. BBB rates the companies and gets paid as long as those companies continue to pay and be listed with BBB. So the BBB complaint resolution process, to me, is a scam. I was told by the Greater Maryland BBB that the arbitrators hired by BBB were independent.
However, they may not be competent in simple things such as contracts, landscaping issues, mere concept of water runs downhill, etc. In addition, the BBB site now indicates that my complaint (all details deleted, hidden, removed) ?was resolved? when in fact it was NOT resolved. If you have a complaint against this company, go to the MHIC and file a complaint, NOT the
BBB.

"This lady went to a Better Business Bureau with me and they responded that I did everything right. We did all work right and she said a bunch of stuff and could not back it up. Please go to Better Business Review to see my A+ rating. There is always a person that wants something for free. If she would have taken care of grass when weather got warm it would not have died. I have pictures of grass growing very nice. Her pipes were buried to specs of what contract read. Tony Pellegrino"

We planed the job together he recommended a specific paver company for the pavers, set the date and his crew - they have been with him for 15 years- did the work. Clean up was excellent. I do hope he posts the walkway on line. The walk looks and is excellent. Tony is the old fashioned lawn and landscape owner who cares about you the person, takes a responsibility for the job and will do the job correctly, the first time. He is the company that is called I when the first landscaper did not do the job correctly.
