I own a townhome, my neighbors bedroom is directly above me and I wake up all night long. I contacted Total Home Interiors, spoke to Glenn, and explained my issue. I informed him that I can arrange to have my neighbors home during the estimate to walk around, see how loud it is, and to get into their unit if necessary. Glenn informed me that was unnessary, they didn't have to be there for the estimate, and I trusted his professional opinion. He came over for the estimate and recommended I soundproof my bedroom and hallway. He explained that the work he was going to do would result in a 60-80% reduction in the sound and that I'd definitely be able to sleep at night. The estimate was $5500 and although I thought it was very expensive, it's not easy to find people that do this kind of work, so I hired him. I paid him $3200 cash upfront and gave him 2 postdated checks for the remaining 2 payments. His crew was very professional throughout the process, they worked hard, and I tipped them a total of $250, not because they fixed my issue (I couldn't have known that yet) but because they did the job they were told to do and they worked really hard. Once the project was completed, the true test was to sleep in my room and see if there was a drastic improvement like I was promised. After less than a week and still waking up at night, noticing very little improvement, I contacted Glenn to inform him it didn't work. Now that it didnt work, he asked to send over his project manager to hear how loud it is, get into my neighbors unit, take decibel readings, etc. basically everything that he should have done during the estimate and before doing the job. What was identified during this process is that the sound was coming through my closet in my spare room on the other side of the wall which wasn't soundproofed. Had he done all of this during the estimate, it would have been identified prior to doing the work and I'm sure he would have suggested that I soundproof my closet in my spare that my neighbors bedroom is also above rather than my hallway. Glenn now recommended to install an acoustic underlayment under my neighbors carpet in their bedroom. He told me he'd charge me cost because "he is a good business man". Cost for this work was an additional $3000 which to me was insane especially without a guarantee. I attempted to make a deal with him, offering him an additional $700 on top of the $2300 I owed him if he did the job and it worked. He not only refused but immediately started threating me with lawyers, putting a lien on my house, criminal charges for "theft of service" etc. After many text messages back and forth and Glenn making no attempt to fix the issue with the money we agreed to, I refused to pay the balance I owed and told him to do what he had to do and to stop contacting me. A few weeks later I received a notice for a mediation hearing as Glenn had filed a police report against me for "theft of service". I went to the mediation hearing and ended up paying $1800 to settle the outstanding payment and the nightmare that this had become. What I experienced with Glenn was a cocky businessman that will never admit when he's in the wrong. I have been looking for a new home for close to 3 months now and will be moving as soon as possible thanks to Total Home Interiors and their inability to do the job they were hired to do. I'm sure Glenn will reply to this review with lies and a fabrication of the truth, do not believe it and please proceed with caution.
