Our driveway had several large deep cracks: at the garage apron, where it met the street, one across the middle, and many smaller crack throughout. We were given an estimate to patch (cut back the asphalt at the large cracks and patch), OR to patch and resurface the entire driveway. We opted for the patch/resurface and it looks fantastic (it’s like a brand new driveway)! We also decided (last minute) to add on the sealcoat right after the paving, which Frank was happy to do. Frank was great and on-site during all of the work. All phone calls/texts were answered immediately. The estimate was accurate. One thing to note is that the weather will dictate the scheduling (which Frank told us at the estimate). We got weeks of rain after our estimate so it took almost 2 months to get scheduled, but it was certainly worth the wait. Would recommend and hire again.

The pavers themselves look good, but the remaining asphalt still, after 5 months, has very noticeable bits of sand and/or cement scattered throughout which have attached to the asphalt and don't come off. Frank and his crew did come back to try and scrub them not long after the installation, but with little improvement. There were also oil spots left from their machines. They're disappearing somewhat, but are mostly still there.

It would have been better if they had done it corrected the first time, and they hadn’t had to come back and redo some of it. I like the ultimate job that they did, it looks very nice, the work looks good. Frank is very easy to work with and responsive to complaints. There was something I didn’t like, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. The fact that they did it in the middle of winter when we had asked 2 months in advance, that didn’t sit well with me.

I want to start with Frank was the most painless, professional contractor I have ever used, and I had four houses built. I get my driveway seal coated every two years, and will only use a paving company. Over the last few years I have used various paving companies with great reviews and had some issues, that I was not happy with. Keeping in mind paving companies charge a little more, use quality materials and I am willing to pay for the work. Frank was excellent, in response time, scheduling and doing everything he said upon agreed work. He answered all of my questions and the issues I had with my previous seal coating which I wanted to avoid this time around. I am completely happy. I pulled my car in after my two day wait and have no tire marks, or pull up which was my previous issue, with another provider. Seven years later my quest is solved in finding a paving contractor I can just call and do my future seal coating work. Frank will be the first contractor I will call when I need my driveway repaved. Use this guy, from initial contact to job completion the most professional company I have used. I am not that easy and picky, and I actually dread looking for a company to seal coat my driveway.

From the initial meeting and quotation to the finished project, Tri-State paving and its owner, Frank Tolino, exceeded our expectations in every way. The asphalt driveway quotation was low compared to others and we typically would not select the lowest bidder however, upon discussing the project in depth with Frank and carefully reviewing the company's many positive on-line ratings and viewing their website, we felt confident that Tri-State Paving was the right choice. According to our builder's team, our newly laid driveway stone base and grading of dirt was "ready for paving". However, when Frank carefully evaluated the entire site for turning radius at each curve, for width and depth of stone, and for proper rain water drainage and runoff, he determined there was a need for additional tons of stone and additional grading of dirt. We were even more pleased when Frank said that he would include this material and labor cost at no additional charge just to assure the best possible end product. From our experience to date, just as their website states, we believe this company is indeed dedicated-to-excellence. We hope to use their company for hardscaping in the future.

Tri-State Paving was one of several paving contractors we received estimates for this job. From our first initial contact, until the job was completed, Frank Talino was the consummate professional. His crew are all regular employees and were all punctual, professional and worked at 110% until the job was finished. To say that Frank and his team went beyond what a typical contractor does would be an understatement. Frank takes great pride in his work and reputation. He leaves no stone unturned! He always kept us completely informed regarding our project and is an excellent communicator. We highly recommend Frank and his team for any commercial or residential work!

Frank came to our house on time and discussed with us what we wanted to do. He provided a verbal

quote which we thought was fair. He advised with a date that his team could start. He kept in contact with us when the project start date was delayed due to the weather. Once the weather cleared his team showed up on time early and got the work. I will say that the team was nice and very professional. They are very hard workers and was on the site for the entire day until about 4:30

The next day the team returned along with Frank who was very hands on for the laying of the blacktop. I really appreciated that Frank is involved with the projects that makes the homeowner feel that there is an expectation of excellence. We even had Frank and his team create a beautiful retaining wall the same day. Amazing.

Went well. Surface underneath was quite wet so we wait for it to dry out after the initial excavation. This was probably a good move!
The sidewalk was replaced quickly and efficiently and the quality appears to be excellent assuming that the sidewalk wears well.

The reason for the overall rating of C is that they destroyed a large portion of my lawn by driving trucks or tractors over it repeatedly. I wasn't home when this happened so I could not stop them from doing it.

I will now need to spend a substantial amount of time and money to repair the damage.
Response from Tri-State Paving
"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for all the favorable comments and high ratings pertaining to our workmanship. We always strive to exceed our customers expectations. I understand your dissatisfaction with the tire marks created in the yard from our rubber tired skid steer, but the alternative would have been to have the 80,000 pound concrete truck park on your older asphalt driveway for concrete delivery. As you know while we were preparing the walkway area I supplied you with a price to replace the driveway which you informed me you did not have the budget for at the time. That being the case I informed the concrete truck to park on the street and used the skidsteer to transport the concrete from the truck to your walkway. Due to the condition of the driveway and it not being designed to withstand the excessive weight of the concrete truck I felt the collateral damage to the yard was and is always a better alternative then damaging the driveway which would cost a great deal more than dirt and grass seed. Thanks again, Frank Talino Tri-State Paving"

I can not say enough about this company and about Frank. He was responsive, professional and patient. He designed the replacement driveway taking into account all the accessibility concerns we expressed about our elderly parents. During the proposal, he included my parents, explaining everything a second time to them. The day of the work, he and his crew were professional, neat and extremely kind and respectful to my parents. They worked quickly and cleaned everything up. We had large roots under the driveway, and he was the only company that said they would remove all the roots and remove them completely for the quoted price. Other companies wanted to shave the roots off at the right height (leaving them to either rot and create a void or regrow). He removed the previous base to the full depth (other companies wanted to keep the existing base, which we knew to be very shallow and not a good mix of aggregates and fines). I was very please with his compaction methods - he explained he would water the base to eliminate air pockets - and he did this on the day of construction. No other company discussed this.
Bottom line for me: Hire this guy, even if his price is a little higher than his competitors.
Owner was the first to respond and set up an appointment for a free estimate and the estimate was within two days of my initial inquiry. I sent out three inquiries and two responded including Tri-State. The comfort level from the estimate was high but also a timeframe that was much more convenient with the vague timeframe from the competitor. Workers showed up on time at 9AM, were extremely pleasant, professional, seemed proud of their work and especially proud of working for Tri-State . They all did a great job, were cleaned up and finished, and I had a brand new driveway by 4PM. Awesome. Would recommend them highly.
Other people on the list would say they would come and they didn’t; so that was a difficult thing to get people out to give us an estimate. So these people finally did come and gave us the estimate. They got out here and did it. They were alright.
