Nathan checked in with us almost every day during the 5 month remodel. He had other jobs running with other crews at the same time as ours, and we had workers at our house most days, which was o.k.. We lived in the house during the remodel (the original kitchen and another bathroom were functional and in a different part of the house). His cabinet installer and his dry waller were topnotch. His electrician, not so much (Nathan has a different electrician now, I believe). He was not familiar with our county's code requiring kitchen light switches every few feet, and we unfortunately neglected to designate which switches should control which lights in multiple-switch fixtures, leading to small daily annoyances.

We are so happy with the way our plan turned out; the only concern we have now is that the floor above our crawl space has sagged, and we need to double-check whether the floor joists were properly sistered. If they were, then we have foundation problems which are not Tri-City's fault. When we find out, we will update this review.

Jerry, Jerry, and Jordan arrived earlier than were scheduled. : ) They did a very professional job, cleaned up the basement better than it was when they got here, and were very likeable guys! They actually did more work than they were scheduled to do!

Working with this contractor, if you can call him that, was a DISASTER; STAY AWAY! Many times reviews can be “opinions” you’ll see in this review proof and documented conversations through text’s the unethical business that this company conducts, including the admittance of a forged and inaccurate invoice after payment in full to cover them from “bad reviews”, please see the includedtext messages so you may draw your own opinion.
Some contractors, such as this one, when working from homeowners think they can pull “wool” or fool homeowners, but Angie’s list allows us forums to warn others; please heed my warning on this one! Given the fact that every step along the way with Tri-City was full of lies, I expect nothing but the same on his response; this time though it’s going to be hard when his own conversations are documented.
Quoting:
When I met with Nate at our construction site, he walked the job because our framing was complete and siding and soffits were ready to get put up. I then had to follow up over 3 times just to get the quote and I should have known when I received nothing but empty promises and excuses (please see attached conversations) Piece of advice,
if a “contractor” makes excuses when you are trying to hire them, like Nathan, RUN!
Timeliness and Labor Coordination:
The best way to describe this part of our engagement began the “circus” of asking where he was. The only time Nathan was actually on-site was when he was having people he’s never met or done work with bidding my job; this wasn’t found out until half-way through the soffit job after the third "set" of workers came on the job site. After asking them if they were "Nates" guys they looked at me really funny and they said "Nate asked us to come by and quote the job" (keep in mind trim was already supposed to be underway)
Honesty and Ethics: (please see the FULLY documented conversations that are attached, directly from Nathan)
Where do I begin? You'll see the ethcis of this company in the "Raw" in the attached conversations. From excuses to cover when no one showed up, or why he couldn't provide the quote after three requests, I struggle to find any situation with Tri-City that was "ethical". The icing on the cake (fully documented in attachment), and my favorite conversation displyaing "ethics" was as follows:

-Me: "I don't choose buiness ethics, I'll do what you think is correct knowing I lost all that time and you now walk away after a 46% increase. I'm a man of my word, let me know how much" (Keep in mind this is before I found out his work wouldn't pass code)-
-Nathan: "it's 2200 for the soffit and I will send you an invoice showing it was paid on Tuesday"

-Me: "Ok, your choice. I hope you feel good about your profits and the position you've left me in. I'll respond accordignly. I'll have a check in the mailbox of the jobsite"

-Me: "Letting you know this conversation will be uploaded to my review and your rating to begin. WIsh I could say its been a pleausre, but I'll fufill your requested amount, despite the position you've left me in. Have a great weekend" (see attached pic of check IN FULL....and later I found out the performed work wouldn't pass code and had to be corrected)

....... Nathan: "thanks for the picture I put the ck# on the invoice" (which was innacurate so he had some "defense" against me on Angie's List.... Despite his direct request to be paid in full, which I did"

-Me: "Nate per your quote, although it has changed multiple times, you asked me to provide a PAID IN FULL check, and I expect an invoice that reflects that (not the fradulent one created after being paid in full per request). If there is not a corrected invoice in my mailbox tonight, you can expect the check you accepted to be cancelled and you can contact my lawyer. YOU ARE FIRED! STAY OFF MY PROPERTY OR I WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED. You should be removed from Angie's List due to extortion, I will be posting this whole thread as well as contacting them. Enjoy your weekend"

-NATHAN: (please see documented multiple lines of "threats" including bank account holds (like he's the IRS)).... This is where it REALLY gets good.... Didn't he just request to be paid in full at "2200", which I did. "AND THAT'S WHY WROTE YOUR INVOICE LIKE THAT SO I CAN POST ON ANGIES LIST SO ANYONE ELSE CAN SEE NOT TO WORK FOR YOU. AND SIMON AND ANDREW PROBABLY WON'T BE THERE TOMORROW WHEN I TELL THEM YOUR CHECK BOUNCED BECAUSE YOU PUT A STOP PAYMENT ON IT"

Lets take a second and analyze this.... 1) He requests to get paid in full, and I agree with that, just requested an invoice. 2) after being paid in full and being informed I was going to review him, he creates an innacurate invoice, and then admits it... IN WRITING (see attached documents of texts), and then tries to get other contractors to walk off the job by LYING and telling them my check "bounced".
........ To summarize the next couple interactions, I informed him to contat my attorneys and any further contact wlll result in legal action (after I made repeated requests to stop contacting me) .
Then there were threats he's going to lien my home (remember I paid him exactly what he requested in documented conversation).
Once and a while contractors think they can "bully" homeowners into a situations whether it be with threats, slander or other means to not "report" or "rate" them ..... So if you are thinking about still hiring this company after this DOCUMENTED, not opionated, review I wish you tons of luck; you'll need it.
Also, one thing....to those contractors Nathan will try to convince to "not to work for you" (me), beware. If the above is your style of "business"... Heed Nathans warning, DON'T WORK FOR ME. If you adhere to the schedule you provided, honor your quote, doing quality work that passes code, provide accurate invoices for being paid as requested in full, you are probably ok.

We hired Tr City in 2008 to do a main bath remodel. It did not go well. The owner may have been licensed, but none of the guys on the job were. The owner had several other crews working at the time and he was rarely on site. I had to provide a lot of direction which should have come from the general contractor. I had many more remodeling projects to do and needless to say, these guys were NOT invited. In the end, you get what you pay for.

People were here when scheduled, or I was notified of change. They were pleasant and efficient. Everything looks great! I will feel confident about using them again.
Nathan Shue and his crew did an outstanding job for us! We could not be more pleased with the outcome... They showed up on day one ready to get to work, and they did. All of the men were courteous to our staff and professional. There were no slackers and they all did a great job. Nathan was very good at keeping me informed of the progress and notifying me if any unforseen problems surfaced. I could confidently go about my own job and not worry because they had everything well in hand. We will definitely call on Tri-City Construction Ltd. Inc. for any future jobs.
- Wayne Flees, Director of Safety

Used this company twice. Honest, flexible and easy to work with. Very competitive pricing. Some details were not the highest quality work, but not out of line with the price. Job took much longer than planned. Seemed like they were juggling many jobs at the time. Subcontractors were very good. Best thing is that they always responded to my calls, and I called almost daily. I recommend them and would use them again.
I trust them. They are quit honest and does what he says he is going to do. If there is a problem he always comes back out. Their price is very fair. If he is busy he is a little hard to find, but once he's there he is very good.

They did not start the job when they should have. Had only 1 guy working on deck most of the time. He would say he was going to be at our house around 8 am and he wouldn't arrive until 10 or 11 and then leave for lunch at 12 or 12:30. Overall project took way too long to complete.

We had several estimates last summer when we decided to put vinyl siding on our house. We picked Nathan from Tri-City because he was prompt in showing up for the estimate, he was easy to understand, and we felt that we could trust him. He gave us a definite start and end date and stuck with it. He was never hard to get ahold of when we had questions. His workers were on time, very polite,, and did a fine job. We will be using Tri-City again.

I was very pleased with them. The price was very reasonable. They were great on everything.

The tile work was done poorly. The basement door frame project was poorly completed as well. The foreman for this project stated that he did not want to do indoor work. I would use them again if it was different foreman over seeing the project. It seems that he is a poor manager.
