IOs, firefox browser did not work....spent 2 hours on phone with angi's to get this review up. If you have the same problem call 888-260-2644 to verbally give your review. Mike was amazing. He came out 2 times and... Before the 2nd time on 5/6/23 he thought of an amazing way to fix the rooms to go recliner sofa. The 2nd small footrest that tucks under the couch on a cindy crawford sofa got stuck in down position, Both chairs on sofa. Really bad design since both went bad at the same time 3 years in. I and Mike Recommend don't buy Rooms to Go!! The more amazing thing Mike spent all that time and left me a drill set if I had to do more work later to fix the sofa recliners....FOR FREE. Only bad thing is that he got slightly mad in a text when we told him angi's could not find his company and we did not have his full name of his company. I understand since he did everything for free but it was angi's fault and should have taking it out on them. It took 4 days to get this review submitted.

The work was done with an expert hand and you can tell that they take pride in providing quality work. Fantastic!! My 30 year old wing back chair is like new. Not only was the chair reupholstered (in the fabric I purchased from another source) but it was repaired and brought back to life! These people (Mike) did the work in a timely manner and with such precision. Fabric patterns were cut to match at each seam, springs were replaced and wooden legs refinished. Mike picked up the chair and returned when work was complete. It is apparent Mike takes great pride in his work! Price was exactly what he said it would be...no surprises!

Excellent. High quality workmanship on all items with competitive pricing. 'Mike' was very helpful and he allowed all the time we needed to make decisions on the materials and styling of the items (no feeling of being rushed or pressured into decisions). We first had a chair and bar stools re-upholstered and some pillows made. When we received the items and saw the quality workmanship, we placed another order including window treatments and additional chairs re-upholstered.

So glad we chose Tropical Decorators & Upholsterers to recover our living room furniture and dining room chairs. The sales agent visited our home and was very helpful and patient as we looked through reams of fabric samples before we made our final decision. Our furniture was reupholstered just as promised and each piece looked as good as new. The price charged was very fair and and more than competitive with other vendors we shopped. Definitely give Tropical Decorators & Upholsterers a call when shopping for new upholstery!

Great. They gave me a 2 week timeframe and met that timeframe. The work was absolutely stunning. Mike was so responsive to any questions I asked. He explained the process and how they do their work. I couldn't have found anyone better to do the job. What a great experience.

<p>We used Tropical Decorators and Upholsterers to recover cushions on our rattan couch. Michael and team did an excellent job that over exceeded our expectations. They offered a variety of quality fabric choices and didn't just recover the cushions but enhanced them with additional padding giving the couch a much more grand appearance. I must say the couch looks better than it did brand new from the factory.</p> <p>We enjoyed working with Michael, he is an expert in the business, offered great suggestions and did not let us down. We definitely would use Tropical Decorators again in the future.</p>

Mike is GREAT!!!  From my first contact for a quote to finish I couldn't have asked for better responsiveness or higher quality workmanship.  I contacted Mike in early September to get some quotes on the work I needed done.  I was able to take pictures and do a quote via email.  When I finally contacted him in January to get the work done he kept to the quote and was able to get the work done right away.  I was even more pleased in how short a time it took to get the work done.  They picked up the furniture and got it back to me at the end of the next week.  I had chosen a patterned fabric for the love seat.  Mike assured me that they would match the pattern from the back cushions to the seat and then down on the front.  It is amazing how well this was done.  The skirt on the bottom of the piece was also folded to match appropriately.  They make the arm covers for all of the pieces and they also were perfectly matched.   <br /> My recliners also look 100% wonderful.  They returned my extra fabric that I had purchased.  That was one other thing that went really well.  When I got my original quotes I had asked how much fabric I needed for each piece.  They had gotten the number right because I had the extra from the recliners and they were able to do all of the matches on the love seat!!   <br />  I had quoted 5 places and although they weren't the lowest they were not anywhere near as high as some.  I chose Tropical because of their responsiveness and professionalism.  If you need something done quickly and very well you won't go wrong to work with them. <br /> <br />

It was a very good experience.  I will use them again.  Mike was helpful in picking our fabric patterns and colors.  He even steered me in the right direction for paint and rug colors.  His advice helped a lot.  The turnaround time that he offered was much faster than I have experienced in the past and although his timing was already much better than others, on top of that he got it done a few days early!  The quality is great, top notch.  I think the price is good also, but I didnt get other estimates so I am not positive on that, hence the n/a choice above instead of a grade.  I was pleasantly surprised by the work and the customer service.  I spilled something on one of the dining room chairs not long after he delivered it.  He offered to come out the next day and fix it that day because he knew I had guests coming to stay.   I recommend this company, the timing and quality really cannot be beat!

Mike from Tropical did an absolutely incredible job with our kitchen bench.  From my first phone call to Tropical they were incredibly responsive and professional.  Mike offered to come out and take a look at our bench free of charge.  He made sure our appointment fit with our schedules.  Our kitchen bench was homemade by a previous owner and as a result was very difficult to reupholster.  Mike spent about an hour with us, showing us fabric samples and trying to assess the best way to approach the project.  The bench was secured to the wall in a way that made it seem impossible to remove.  Mike went out to his truck and got his drill.  He unscrewed probably 20 screws trying to get the bench and back off.  They would not budge.  He then had to really think outside the box to figure out a way to reupholster the bench in a way that would look professional without having to totally rebuild it.  Mike succeeded and then some.  His quote seemed high at the time, but he assured us this project would be a lot of work - and it was!  Mike was meticulous in his measurements.  He came out to the house about 5 times to measure, create templates, check the fit, and install.  The finished project is absolutely perfect.  The workmanship is top notch, the new seat and back cushions are expertly made and the finished product looks amazing.  Mike also got the job done quickly and kept us updated on the progress every step of the way.  He is a true professional with an eye for detail and a commitment to quality.  We could not be happier.  We have already decided to hire him again for some skylight blinds.

The material used was very high quality and the workmanship was exemplary. Extra padding was added all over both pieces and arm covers were added. These pieces looked better than they did brand new. I have received many compliments from visitors. I am very satisfied.

Mike is one of the most professional people with whom we have ever dealt.  A wonderful experience working with this company from start to finish.  Tropical Decorators and Upholstery did an outstanding job reupholstering and refinishing our two antique chairs.  Truly exceptional workmanship.  WE ARE EXTREMELY PLEASED.

Tropical did an absolutely fabulous job. From day one we were impressed with Mike's professionalism and concern for our comfort level. We had looked for new furniture for quite some time but could find nothing with the features of our old.  My wife was very concerned and fearful of how it would turn out. Mike put her fears to rest.  He had all his materials withhim and we agreed on the spot. They picked the furniture up that day and delivered it back a day early!!  It looked GREAT!  We were satisfied way beyond our expectations!!  He repaired the broken wood, cleaned up another section and even found and repaired a broken spring on one recliner.  My wife asked if she could come by their shop and look at a piece during the refinishing project. Mike offered her that if she so desired. We never did but it was all part of the making her feel comfortable with their service. <br /> No doubt we'll use them again!!

My couch was in really good shape structurely and they did a beautiful job! I chose a striped pattern and each stripe matched. They did a really, really good job. They were very friendly and the work was completed when they said it would be. I would absolutely use them again.

The foam and support straps for our reclining leather sofa and chair (purchased from Scan Design) had completed deteriorated in less than 5 years. It was very poor quality and miserable to sit on...however, the leather and overall construction of the chairs was still in excellent condition. Tropical Decorator's came to our home and gave us an estimate on the spot. The price was far less expensive than purchasing a new set of quality leather furniture of equal value. The sofa originally had to be brought in over the 2nd story balcony because it wouldn't fit up our townhome staircase. Tropical suggested disassembling the furniture in my home, taking only the seating back to the shop, and then reassembling back in my living room. This not only worked out great - but saved considerably on the cost of getting the sofa over the 2nd story balcony on to a truck. The quality of the work is excellent! They were always prompt in returning calls and keeping appointments. Additionally, the job was done in less than 4 days (counting the weekend) I highly recommend Tropical Decorators and feel that my Angie's List membership fee paid for itself with this experience alone.

I hated the upholstery on the two channel-back chairs that I purchased in 2004 from a resale shop and the woodwork on the chairs was chipped and the lacquer was chipping off. The seats were soft and sagging. The Flexsteel sofa and loveseat we purchased in 1990 were in good condition but the upholstery had faded and was out of fashion. I read about Tropical Decorators on Angie's List and gave them a call. Mike came out to the house for a free estimate but first asked about the furniture on the phone. They won't even come out if they feel your furniture isn't worth recovering. But Flexsteel has a lifetime warranty on the springs and hardware, so it was worth it. When he saw the chairs, he said they were very old, stuffed with horse hair and the springs were probably OK but just needed to be retied. He said they were worth being reupholstered and they would refinish the wood as well. He brought in many samples from his truck and offered great advise based on where the furniture would be in the house and how we would use it. His quote for the entire job was $3700, with a discount because we're military, and they promised it in two weeks! This was much less than purchasing new furniture. They did deliver a few days later than promised, but the quality is impeccable! The chairs look like new, all the wood was refinished and they even cut fabric for pillows for me to make (they offer to make pillows for you, but I like to sew!). They guarantee their work and it is outstanding.

Mike did a fabulous job. His estimate was $300 less than another company (where I had purchased the furniture 10 years ago), and he got the work done much more quickly than the other company had estimated. I was so pleased, I gave him two more chairs to reupholster. I also was very impressed by the choice of fabrics he offers. (In fact, that made it all the more difficult to choose - a good problem to have.)

Mike returned our call quickly. He gave a phone estimate. Advised that it would be a little more if cushions are custom cut. He said that he would be at our home bet 6-7pm (6/27/07) to pick up the cushions and he was there. He gave us some history about his experience, the company (oldest upholstery company in Jacksonville), furniture care & references. He required no deposit and guarantees his work for 1 year. If it bags out within 1 year, he will repair at no cost. He inspected the lining, springs, foam and frame on the furniture and recommended we not get rid of it (the leather is in excellent condition after 10 years; full wood construction). We like our cushions firm and he recommended replacing them with a 2-3/4 Dacron wrap cushion. He gave us a 2-wk turnaround on the work & delivered on 7/13/07. He had us sit on it to get a feel for firmness and comfort. Showed us where he did touch ups. Discussed cost of repadding arms & front border on couch to be done later.

I thought upholstery was a lost art. Not with Tropical Decorators and Upholsterers. They do fantastic work. First, they tell you upfront if the furniture is worth redoing. All this is done in the home. We could not be more satisfied.
