Turf & Tree Worx
About us
Darryl Zellmer founded Turf & Tree Worx in 1992. Darryl had a part-time snowplowing and lawn-mowing business that he began in 1989. During the 1991 season, he worked for Evergreen Lawn Corp. During the spring of 1992, he added lawn fertilization to his business and began his endeavor full-time with Turf & Tree Worx. Running the business out of his home on the northwest side of Milwaukee, the Company grew and Darryl added several employees and more equipment. In 1995, Turf & Tree Worx rented a small business warehouse in Milwaukee. In 1996, Darryl moved his residence and Turf & Tree Worx to its current location in West Bend (Town of Trenton). Due to the significant client base in the Milwaukee area and the need to be established in West Bend and the surrounding areas, Turf & Tree Worx kept the Milwaukee location while building a client base in West Bend. Turf & Tree Worx closed the Milwaukee location in the spring of 1998. To date, Turf & Tree Worx has expanded its maintenance, lawn care, tree service, and snow removal functions to a full-service lawn and landscape, design/build Company. The Company is proud of its achievement and attributes success to offering a variety of services with a teamwork approach coupled with a high standard of expectations. By working together and placing, a high value on every employee’s role, Turf & Tree Worx has created an atmosphere that employees and clients appreciate.

"We do not schedule appointments for diagnostic visits. This is explained to prospective clients at the time of their initial call. As a certified arborist for over 15 years, I know trees. Your Oak tree was in good health at the time of my visit, with early signs of insect damage. There was nothing to report & no insects were found, only minor visible damage. The standard recommendation is to offer a treatment option, which I did. If this is such an issue, why didn't Mr. [Member Name Removed] call if he wanted to talk to me? Why did he wait over 2 months to post his dissatisfaction without even calling? LIKELY answer: because he didn't want to pay $112 for the recommended treatment and now the tree probably has progressive insect damage due to his failure to act on my recommendation."

"We did everything that [Member Name Removed]'s signed contract requested. We did honor her signed estimate as well. Unfortunately, [Member Name Removed] was upset because an employee that gave her services for free, no longer worked for our company. We did not substitute any materials for the job. What was quoted on the estimate is what was brought and delivered to the job. The only changes made were the hardscape & grading area and all parties agreed to this. We did not try to substitute any materials without [Member Name Removed]'s consent. She CHOSE to dislike everything. She has worked with us for many years. We have always replaced any plants of hers that have dies or did not make it. [Member Name Removed] was only charged for work that was done. This includes wasting the owners time running around town trying top match up her Lannon Stone. She had signed a contract for 24" flag stone. During the walk through, [Member Name Removed] showed the owner another garden on her property & mentioned these are the same ones you are installing with your work. These were not lannon flag stone, these were pre-poured. On the contract, nowhere does it state to match the flagstone the customer currently has. She was also only charged for the plants/materials that were installed. Prior to the crew leaving the first day, she looked over what they did and said everything looked good. Upon returning the next day, she came out & completely went off on the crew members about not being happy with how the flag stones were placed & started picking them up & throwing them. She did everything from yell & rant at the crews to sit & watch them scrutinizing every detail of work. There are quite a lot more details not included, if she would like, I can go over them all again for you [Member Name Removed]. We did nothing wrong, did our work and [Member Name Removed] has refused to pay for our work that was done. To date, she still hasn't paid for the work that was done."

"You marked your paperwork that you had a sprinkler system. Your signed paperwork you returned, states that we are not responsible for marked or unmarked sprinkler heads. They were never marked. But that is not here or there, it is irrelevant. The heads that were hit, were hit when the crew was bed shaping. There was absolutely no way to know there were sprinkler heads in this area, as the ones that were hit, were buried below ground by more than 3 inches. This tells us, you would have never known they were there either to even mark them. This is why we have the type of wording that we do on our paperwork. Your invoice read: "Bed Shape all beds (Sprinkler head was hit on East side of the house. Was under the surface by more than 3".) There was no way to know this." You called our office to state that your sprinkler heads were hit & you were never told by the crew they were hit. The crew states otherwise. Again, this is neither here nor there. We stated we would give you a call back after talking to the crew. A call was placed the next day to your phone number and a voicemail was left to please return our call. You returned our call and had a nice conversation with the owner. We appreciate your business and what happened was unfortunate, and also a learning experience."
