We had one of the worst customer service experiences with this shop. Everything started well since this company provides a wide array of good floor products, we were happy with choice of the floor, although it was expensive, but we thought it will be worth the money. However, the work was done very poorly, the person who was installing the floors was very rude and unprofessional. After day one when one and half of the second bedroom were completed, we noticed that all small pieces of the floor were installed right in the middle of the room! Instead of installing them by the wall and placing long pieces throughout the room, they did opposite - all small pieces were in the middle and long by the wall! We have called and complained right away and at least two other bedrooms were done properly. The installer also did not see that our concrete floor was uneven and floor was not leveled out, but they installed the floor anyway. We ended up having the floor bend in multiple places of the house, which we did not expect happing at all. We had a war with them that lasted for a few months since they were not willing to negotiate any terms, even after you have called to their main office at American Floors. Their main office does not really care about you since they only provide marketing tools for such shops as their and nothing else. So if they mess up with you, there's no one whom you really could complain. We had inspectors come to the house to see how badly the floors were, but that did not really matter since from beginning they said they would partially repair one part of the floor in one room and would redo the floor in other room out four bedrooms that were done. Therefore, inspection was redundant since they did not really listed what he said. Even though the issue was somehow resolved since we just gave up and wanted this nightmare to end, communication, speed of response, the way they treat you as a client, they way they talk with you does not stand even close to client service. Horrible, first they arrived to put in the carpet only to find once it was at my house that the carpet couldn't be used. Took another week to get in the carpet. This delayed the hard wood replacement. These "professionals" then got sick, apparently everyone, which delayed the work on the wood flooring another week. When they did come they started to rip up the old floor and then determined they couldn't do it. Not only did they tell me they dont do that type of work (i.e. ripping up glued down flooring) but that I would have to hire someone else and then let them know when I was ready for them. That is not in the contract you sign and the owner who did the estimate never mentioned it or did the due diligence to see that the flooring job wouldn't work. I then had to hire someone else to fix what what these people destroyed. Worse yet, even though I am the one who signed the contract and was paying the bill they didn't contact me, they constantly attempted to contact a person I had to let them into the unit. These are the worst professionals I've ever seen and wouldn't recommend them. Ever.

what started out to be a perfect transaction ended in a nightmare all because of frightful customer service! 2 days after install i went into my basement and was horrified to see very large hunks of wood, as though a storm had brought them in. they were all sizes and even sawdust. this was just a mess as it got into my grandbabys clothes, furniture, all the breastfeeding equipment, christmas decoration, antiques etc... this obviously was a result of the nail gun punching the sub-floor through to the basement when installing the floor. upon calling our salesperson, christina sullivan to report this she said it was sub-floor residual and i should just clean it up with my shop-vac. i told her i did not have one, and it is not my responsibility to clean up her contractors mess. <br /> ****Cristina said she would call me back after discussing with manager...she did not <br /> ****waited 2 weeks called christina a second time and she said not their responsibility but she would talk with manager again <br /> ****waited 2 weeks called the manager "debbie" she was so rude to me, said it was my builder leaving the sub-floor wet, oh my! this house was built 17 years ago. she started screaming at me that there would be a charge to clean up her workers mess. SHE ASKED ME WHY MY RUBBERMAID STORAGE BINS DID NOT HAVE LIDS! SHE IS PSYCHO <br /> CHRISTINA SAID SHE WOULD COME BY TO CLEAN UP ON HER PERSONAL TIME WITH HER SHOP VAC 1-9-14 3:30 PM...OF COURSE..NO SHOW..NO CALL <br /> fast forward to january: <br /> ***i called MOTOR CITY FLOORS and PERFECT FLOORS for an estimate to get 2 more rooms done. <br /> BOTH COMPANIES SAID WOOD FROM THE SUB FLOOR WOULD RELEASE TO THE LOWER LEVER 100% OF THE TIME IF THE BASEMENT IS NOT FINISHED AS THEY USE 2 INCH NAILS <br /> IF I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE COVERED THE FURNITURE OR MOVED IT <br /> motor city floors installed our dining room and living room hardwood floors and the first thing the contractors asked me is if i had a finished basement. when i said no, they were prepared with tarps, shop-vacs and a clean up crew. THEY WERE SOOO AWESOME AND A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! <br /> THEY EVEN CLEANED UP UNITED FLOORINGS MESS....THEY WILL BE BACK IN MARCH TO DO MORE ROOMS...CALL MOTOR CITY FLOORS AND ASK FOR FRANK BELLANCA 586-755-2022

"Although we try to cover all the different scenarios that we can when talking to our customers about their installations, sometimes things can happen that are unexpected. We have never had a complaint about this before and maybe it is either because all of the other basement ceilings have been finished off, and this debris is still there but unseen, or the customer realized it is an incidental consequence of the installation and cleans it up themselves. Christina, the salesperson, did make attempts to contact the customer to clean up the area but received no response back. Try as we may we are not perfect but we are sure the installed floor will last for many years to come."

The whole team was amazingly helpful! We needed a new floor and quick! We were moving and needed a new floor before putting our house on the market. The team was great about getting us, measured, supplies ordered and installed even during a holiday week. They really exceeded our expectations in customer service and would definitely use them again if we were still living in the area. <br />

The installers were on time and worked very quickly, efficiently and were polite. I had my entire first floor installed, so they needed to come back the second day. Anything that I brought to their attention, they fixed right away. <br />

After watching youtube.com and the DIY shows the process to me was still too difficult to tackle. I was somewhat concerned with some of the installation: bi-fold doors, fitting the laminate around the doorframes, heating & return air ducts. <br /> So I contacted Untied Flooring Center through Angie's List. I was more than happy with the results!!!!!!!!! <br /> Al & his crew were always on time, professional and cleaned up after themselves. The flooring looks great, all the doors were cut and refitted properly in all the closets & rooms. The floor flows properly from the living room into the hallway and bedrooms!!! <br /> I would highly recommend United Flooring Center for your flooring needs. <br />

The two workmen showed up on time, were very professional and were done within 2 hours. Main point is that the carpet looked great, both before and after cleaning. <br />

<br /> Working with Christina and her co-workers -- Dan, Debbie, Kathy, and Al, who supervised the installation -- was an extremely rewarding experience. Starting from Christina helping me pick the right floor for a cottage location, to Dan ensuring measurements were precise, to Al and his crew doing a beautiful installation job, they never disappointed me. The product quality and installation workmanship is exactly as I had hoped. Christina was helpful, knowledgeable, professional, respectful, patient, and so very easy to work with. She was also a miracle worker when it came to figuring out how to put flooring on my staircase. I'll be back, definitely.

Having not purchased new carpeting in over 15 years, I initially found this company via an internet referral/recommendation (not Angie's list) that also included a coupon if a minimum amount was purchased. After visiting the showroom and speaking with the sales representative (Christina) several times, I had decided I would purchase from her whether or not they honored the internet coupon. Christina listened to exactly what I was looking for and my budget and steered me toward several options that met my criteria. She appeared very knowledgable and made it very easy to ask questions, etc. Their estimator (Dan) was prompt, courteous and quick, and when I placed the order, they did honor the coupon (which only made the price - which was already competitive - that much better). Finally, I had expressed a desire to have the carpet ordered and installed in very short order (w/in a week) and they made every effort to make this happen for me - which they were able to do! The installers were prompt and efficient, and cleaned up after themselves very well. There were a couple of minor things that occurred (knocked some pictures down as they were carrying a large roll of carpet up a stairway and around a tight corner, and made a small scratch on the wall paint in one of the rooms). When the "lead installer" became aware of the paint issue, he was very apologetic and offered to touch up the pain himself. I feel that although we prefer to have "no issues", these minor errors happen and I was more impressed with their attention to wanting to 'make it right'. I would certainly use this company again for my flooring needs.

Dave G. and his assistant Brian of United Flooring in Troy, Michigan, arrived on time, worked through lunch and finished the job in one day. They wasted no time, but worked efficiently and carefully. My floor looks beautiful and was installed perfectly. The team from United Flooring from the estimator, the store staff to the installers were courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend them when installing a floor.

The experience was generally positive from start to finish, and the final results are beautiful. The store helped us pick a very attractive medium color hickory solid hardwood floor product from Somerset. The price was slightly higher than some other products we considered, but the color and quality were exactly what we were looking for. The installation start date was slightly later than originally promised because the previous job took longer than expected, and they were a day longer than estimated at our house. But the installer was very friendly and very careful, and did an outstanding job. We couldn't be more pleased.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK DONE BY UNITED. THE THING I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH WAS THE STAIN PROTECTION WARRANTY. IT DIDN'T COVER VERY MUCH. THE WORKERS CAME ON TIME TO INSTALL EVERYTHING AND IT LOOKS VERY GOOD.
