Alex brought deep knowledge and experience to our pest problems. He took his time to understand how the rodents may have entered the house and how we have previously dealt with this problem. We discussed ways to improve barriers and reduce the chance of future infestation of rats or other rodents. He also was thorough in searching for possible bed bugs. Fortunately we did not find this to be a problem. Previous exterminators did not do nearly the careful inspection and may have recommended services that we did not need. A few months ago I was hearing what I assumed was house movements particularly in my beautiful living room display cabinet which sits one inch from the wall. I came to wonder why our indoor cat would sit for hours frozen and stare at the cabinet. Then one day I saw my full grown cat run toward the kitchen and back but I didn't know why yet. Then a few weeks later I happened to be looking for an item in one of two top drawers and there I saw large droppings but unsure if it was mouse or rat excrement. I felt grossed and disposed of everything in the drawer and began searching Google for an exterminator. I found Uptown Pest Control and discussed the issue here with Alex Freire. He came to my home and assessed the findings exclusive to the living room as no evidence was found anywhere else in the house. Alex educated me why nocturnal rats manage to gain entrance to your home. He set three traps and two giant stick boards on the running boards of the living room in different areas and returned a week later. There was nothing found and he decided he would return a second week later. Again, nothing was found and I felt relieved. He told me perhaps the nocturnal creature left. By the the third week I saw evidence of rat droppings in the garage where I wash clothing 20 feet from my back door. So I called Alex again and he came to move the set traps to the areas where the droppings were visible. Within one day, the next morning, a rat was caught and quite dead! Boy was I happy! I've been living here for 25 years and have never experienced those type of grotesque animals! A few days after that a second rat, a bit smaller than the first, was caught! There are no more rats! I hired Uptown Pest Control in December of 2025. Alex came out to my home in a timely manner. He was very friendly and professional. Alex did an exceptional job!! He found 11 areas where the rodents were entering the house and sealed up everyone with the very best materials that do not deteriorate. He came back in one week as promised, to check the traps. His traps caught two large rats!! He set more traps. His excellent work gave me peace of mind! No more noises coming from the attic and my cupboards!! Alex was very thorough and very professional. He emphasized that I can call him anytime even if there is no evidence of further infestation, and he would come out again to check every area. Alexander was very efficient and and in my frantic state his tone and demener brought calmness to my spirit.
