Three words: Responsive, Polite and Knowledgeable. It was a complicated 2 days long project involved power shut off by PGE, traffic control and permit. Urban Timber had everything arranged and all I did was to show up in case of any questions popped up. Team showed up at 7:30 am working almost non-stop til 4:30 pm on both days. Project finished on time and the crews cleaned up the site before they left. I have no hesitation recommending Urban Timber to any one who needs tree services.

They did excellent work. We got several bids and this was the only company who said that they would balance the needs of the tree with the needs of the customer (some companies err too far on one side or the other). They want to keep the tree healthy (of course) but also want to try to meet your requests. Our back yard is vastly better this summer since we had this work done and we will continue to use them. The shape of the tree is fabulous and the canopy is much higher up than it was. The leaves look very healthy so we think the tree is happy, too. Clean-up was good. Only small issue was some scratching from branches on things they pulled them past but that is to be expected, to a certain extent.

Erik from UT came out for initial inspection and was very thorough in his estimate. He concluded that the maple still had plenty of years left (although it would have to go in the end), and there were some limbs that could be cut down in order to protect the house. The cherry was taken down completely to the stump (they don't do stump grinding services). When the guys came out to do the work, they came right on time, were very careful to make sure the property (house and garden) wasn't too disturbed, and got all the work done incredibly fast! They also did as much as they could to make sure they left the property undisturbed. For example, when backing their truck into my driveway (to get at the top of the maple), the truck bent and broke several limbs of the lilacs that line the south end of our driveway (it is a little overgrown, actually, so I wasn't bent out of shape about it). As they left, they trimmed and pruned the lilacs back, and restored it to a pleasing landscape. A note on the price: it cost $900 to prune the maple (I'd wager the height at 60 to 80 ft), and $400 to remove the cherry (height more like 20 to 30 ft).

They did a great job with three of the trees, and with the other two they did a decent job. Unfortunately we had initially hired them to trim some branches hanging over the neighbor's fence but they didn't trim all the branches, so we still have some of the same problems.

Urban Tree Service Team communicated with me with an estimate, date and time to do the work, and a call the night before as to when they would arrive. Jeremy's team was punctual and ready. I have a tall Maple break during the last wind storm. A large piece needed removing and then clearing and cleaning of any damaged areas. The guys worked quickly and safely. Their recommendations on how to deal with the situation were great. They cleaned up after themselves and left me with nothing to do but enjoy the work they'd done. I highly recommend their service and will definitely use again.

They cancelled the first appointment because their chipper broke down. We made another time, they called ahead, arrived on time and did a good job. Cleaned up and finished quickly. Watching him move around in the tall tree was amazing. Incredible athlete!

I called several arborists for an estimate. EVERY arborist who came out said, "ahh! A challenge, we like challenges!" The others told me all the problems they would have to solve in order to get our tree down. One even told me they would have to take down part of my fence AND a major portion of my neighbors' fence 50 feet away(which had just been built!) AND THEN they would kindly rebuild it at my expense! Charming. Every one of them told me there would be damage to my ornamentals in the process, so to prepare for that. They all gave me estimates that were slightly shocking, but acceptable. The pruning estimates for the other trees were ridiculous. Jeremy came out, assessed the tree and location, then told me he liked challenges (yep, heard that before). Then, he said how much he would love to take the job, but he didn't have the right equipment. He could, rent the equipment, but assumed I wouldn't pay for it. When I asked his price without the equipment and then, how much the equipment would cost to rent, I was sold! Not only was his price lower than the others, he was willing to find a solution that didn't destroy anyone's property, with a very careful plan, so that no windows or neighboring trees would be hurt in any way. He also looked like he would really enjoy the task. When they came out, everyone was extremely careful and professional. I watched in amazement at how fast they got everything done. I think they planned 6-8 hours and got it done in about 3 1/2! The bottom line is: they were professional, fair, and knowledgeable. I would ABSOLUTELY call them for any other work I have in the future.

I was very clear with Jeremy when he came over to give an estimate, what we wanted done.  Sure, no problem, was his response.  the reality was different once they began the project.  They are able to trim the firs fine.  But, I had to ask for them to trim the lilac, and instead of using a ladder, he climbed up in a already ancient weakened lilac and trimmed some of it, and now it leans even more.  And I had to ask him to cut the other lilac, which he did.  And he only took off one branch of the main trunk, leaving us to have to take the other one.  When I asked why he was only taking one part of the Dogwood, the answer was, that's all we were told to trim, the part that leans over the garage.  I was told  "It wasn't in the budge" to do any more trimming.  They did loan me their pole cutter so I could do it myself.  Granted my walkway was not the widest with which to haul out the limbs to the chipper, my flower beds were trashed.  Fallen limbs broke off an azalea and my oakleaf hydrangea.  Clean up consisted of sweeping debris into the flower beds onto tender emerging plants and I have filled my compost garbage bin with branches and twigs they left behind.  Maybe the guy who gives an estimate has some knowledge of tree care, but he is not on site during the work, and there is no direction given to tree care.  If you want fir trees trimmed, these may be your guys, but if you want careful tree pruning by a team lead by an arborist, and careful work on surrounding plants, look elsewhere.
