Bad It made absolutely no difference whatsoever. It's been about 10 months since the work has been done and that room was the hottest room in the house all summer and now the coldest going into winter. I feel like I wasted $2,500.

Unfortunately, when the techs started the process, the insulation already in the walls prohibited the addition of the foam. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was, as the job they had done on our tiny addition was remarkable. However, isn't it wonderful to have a company tell you the truth!

Didn't go as well as we had expected. Joe, our salesman had promised a "night and day" difference. The room is still very cold and I still need to run a heater in there all day. The floor is still cold so the baby can't crawl around on it during winter months. I can still feel the draft coming through the closet and the walls are also still cold to the touch which was the main reason for the insulation. It didn't make much of a difference if any at all, so I'm very disappointed. The workers arrived on time and seemed to do their job correctly as they showed us with some high tech thermal imaging device. They cleaned up pretty good after themselves too. I didn't understand why they brought in the hoses that fill the walls, leaving both my front and back doors open for four and a half hours while they drilled holes. My whole house was absolutely frigid because of this and took hours to warm back up. The workers seemed knowledgable but showed little care for my home or my family while they were here. Phil and I have spoken several times about this and he is taking the side of the workers and their thermal device over my family and our comfort. I couldn't be less happy that I spent $2,500 for USA Insulation to make my daughter's room slightly more insulated. I guess I should give Joe a big ol shoutout for his wonderful sales pitch....too bad the product isn't working.
Response from USA Insulation of Philadelphia
"I am sorry that you were not completely satisfied with your Insulation project. When we revisited your home, we were able to show with our Thermal Imaging Camera that the insulation did indeed make a difference in the walls and the floor of the bump-out room that we insulated. We had offered to inject more wall foam insulation if the Thermal Camera showed that we had missed any spots, but that did not prove to be the case. Remember that we don't heat your home, we provide a thermal barrier so that the warm air cannot escape. In talking with your husband, it seems that the location of the floor register is not adequately heating that room. If you can get the room warm, we are confident that we can keep it that way. We are dedicated to doing the right thing. Best regards, Phil Foeller General Manager USA Insulation of Philadelphia"

In the attic, we had wooden slats that covered the floor so they had to go under the floorboards. Although we were told by the salesman that there would always be a person on the other side of the wall to check for problems, the second guy was not watching and they blew a hole in the ceiling of the bedroom ( see pictures). They assured us that they would fix the hole, spackle it and repaint the ceiling. They did spackle the hole but only painted the area that they fixed - not the whole ceiling. And they did a lousy spackling job. We had to get someone else to smooth out the spackle and repaint the ceiling. We could have pushed to get them to fix the ceiling but it was late on the last day and we wanted the job done. As for the gel on the outside, the truck broke down due to the heat of the day and it took 3 days to finish the rest of the job including fixing the ceiling and the inside walls. Although the salesperson, did a first investigation of the house and said it could all be done from the outside, the workers found that one bedroom was covered in concrete so they had to drill from the inside of one of the bedrooms leaving many holes to be spackled. This time it was not so bad and we were able to sand and repaint that bedroom. But the workers could have done a better job of cleanup of the sparkle. It was all over the baseboard and the rug and we had to use rags to clean it up. We realize that things happen. And maybe we were too hopeful based on the salesman's pitch. But we would rather have had the salesperson tell us the truth about the possibility of drilling holes in the inside of the house even though he did a thorough inspection. All in all, we are hoping that insulating our house will save us a lot of money in heating costs. The manager was very accommodating, we saved some money by paying with a check vs a credit card. The workers were very nice and the lead person was very knowledgeable. Any renovation is stressful. We would probably recommend them because now we know what to expect. This company was recommended to us by a number of people. We have no doubt that the product itself is excellent. For that reason, we expected it all to go smoothly. It did not. Everything that could go wrong, basically did. It all got fixed but ... We did not plan for a hole in the ceiling, the truck breaking down and go into the shop to fix the problem with the gel overheating and not coming out of the hose fast enough, the concrete in one of the bedrooms that meant that all the holes had to be drilled on the inside of the bedroom and we had to repaint. So for those reasons, we are giving them a rating of fair. We hope your experience will be a lot better than ours !!

We are very pleased with the work done for us. Ed was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He gave us a thorough breakdown of how this process worked. His team came in laid tarps and covered furniture too. They were all very friendly and cleaned up after they were done.

Ed Burke was extremely professional, thorough and insightful both in his assessment of a difficult and complex situation we had in our attic and also throughout the insulation removal and installation process. He provided solutions that significantly improved the energy efficiency in our attic and also was very helpful in troubleshooting and making good referrals so that our attic ventilation system could function optimally. His installation and removal crew were also professional, hard working and responsive to questions throughout the process including explaining thoroughly to us what would happen in terms of the set-up to do the work so we would be prepared and all the way through completion, including a a thorough clean up. We would highly recommend Ed and his team!

Our primary bedroom is above the garage and even though we have a newer home, you can feel cold air coming thru the floor. It's the coldest room in the house by far. Ed's team came in and placed foam insulation in the garage ceiling. He gave us $100 off for Angies list discount which was nice. They cleaned up well when done. Now that it's warm out I can't grade the quality of the work until winter again because I won't know till then if its helping with the problem. I will come back and update then. We had been quoted over $6000 by another company to do the work so hopefully this works and comes in far cheaper.

Initially had difficulty contacting -- apparently they've been using a temporary answering service while between receptionists -- and almost gave up. But they were very professional at time of visit, explained both what they could do and where they were limited (in my case, by interior walls that were recessed almost to the exterior brick, leaving no room for insulation to be added). Even offered some "handyman" work to help with the latter, as much as possible (i.e., cutting some foam board to go at the back of a cold closet and around various boxes and wires there).

Update: The came early, were friendly and professional, and cleaned up afterward. Work went well, there was more space for foam than feared, and we found additional possible leakage sites to plug (e.g., inside an electric box). The one downside was that the treatment leaves plugged 2-inch holes all over the interior walls that have to be spackled and painted by the homeowner (which I hadn't realized in advance), but that's not a big deal, except in the sense that one's To Do list never decreases. Very happy with the overall experience.

It worked! We have a very old (1865) twin house with old stone wall with apparently no insulation. The kitchen got very cold and the closets were full of freezing dishes. They pumped in insulation material between the dry wall and the exterior wall and sealed up some joists in a storage room below. It worked and we are now snug and cozy.
The were very professional, punctual and knew what they were doing. They took time to explain the work and answer questions. The two young me who did the actual work were very polite and considerate.
Wish we had found and hired these people many years ago! Would definitely recommend highly.
I spent $2439. He went by the book so as far as insulation was concerned I didn't do my research until he left but I found out that he went by the book with his work and did exactly what he should do. I went with him based off his rating on Angie's List and he was very professional when he came in and I appreciated his honesty. He told me to take care of the attic work and don't worry about anything else. He was very honest and he could've gotten more money from me.

To foam the mudroom they had to drill holes in the brick mortar. The patches at first didn't look all that well Ed Burke said if the look doesn't improve after drying let me know. I never had the chance to let him know they still weren't perfect he called me to ask what they looked like. I said they still looked a little rough. Thanks I'll take care of it tomorrow. I came home from work that day and had a hard time seeing where the holes were. If you need the kind of work done that this company provides, CALL THEM
I
It went fairly well, the owner of the company was a very nice guy. He came out and gave me an estimate and his guys came out on the planned date. They did everything they said they would do, the only issue I had is that they did plug the holes but we had to actually go back and retackle the holes, which was fine.

This work was funded by Keystone HELP (Home Energy Loan Project), which provides low-interest loans for home energy improvement to Philadelphia-area residents. Based on their comparatively excellent price, we asked USA Insulation to become lead contractor in the project. Working through an approved contractor is a requirement to secure the program's 1%, 10-year funding. Not only did USA Insulation complete all work in a timely, professional manner, they repaired several problems -- such as a bathroom fan venting improperly. They even discovered a leaky natural gas valve and faulty grounding on the HVAC that another contractor had just installed and quickly came back to fix. This company is expert, thorough, reliable and goes above and beyond the expected.
From the first time we contacted Ed Burke up through and including the actual installation, USA Insulation was completely professional, respectful and courteous. We delayed scheduling for several months, and Ed had to follow up with us multiple times. He did so without being annoying or pushy. On insulation day, they put down tarps to protect our home, explained what they were doing, and even went above and beyond by moving some items that we left in their way (thank you!). They had a slight problem with covering our attic stairs and said they'd be back to finish up. They showed up exactly as promised and completed the job on time, on budget, and they left our home spotless. In short, they exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to recommend USA Insulation to anyone. Well done!
We had an issue with a water pipe leading to an upstairs bathroom that had frozen several times (fortunately not burst!) especially when the outside temperature was 10 degrees or lower, which happened several times this winter. We knew we needed to do something, so we started with the resources available on Angie's List. we called several vendors, but Ed Burke was the only one that offered a solution to insulating the pipe from the outside (removing some siding and drilling through the wall, and applying the insulation). He also proposed insulating the pipe from several access points inside the house - starting in the basement up the pipe chase, and further insulating the pipe chase through a closet wall on the ground level.
The crew arrived on time, and put drop cloths down to protect our floors. One part of the crew tackled the attic, while another contingent worked on the pipe chase. While blowing in the attic insulation, they found an electrical box from a previous project that was not closed off correctly. The issue was resolved on the spot.
In all, we were very pleased with how the job turned out. It was more than we had initially expected to spend, but we are confident that we got our money's worth. Looking forward to some savings in our utility bills.
