When I called Vargas Painting....."Jorge" was very professional and showed up on time as he promised. He inspected our home.....along with all of the boards. A few boards needed replacing and our home needed painting. Two days later I had his bid. His price was very fair. Jorge is very personable. He had very good ratings on this site, he provided me with his insurance verification without having to be asked. We hired him. He was great to work with us, as I had already planned a two week vacation and didn't want the house painted while I was gone. After the initial deposit (Approx 1/3 of the contract) we made arrangements for when he would start on our home. He was very accommodating. He started working on the agreed date. He power washed the house. Replaced the rotten boards, calked and sealed and scraped and finally painted. We used two different paints. We instructed him on how we wanted the painting and also asked for his professional opinion on a couple of smaller issues. He painted everything the way that we wanted. Every evening they cleaned up tarps and tools but they did ask if they could leave them behind our home. At the end of everyday Jorge communicated with us what was done that day, and what would be done the next day. Everything went so smoothly. The home was painted in a week. Jorge asked me on the final day to do a complete walk around on the house and make him a list of anything that was missed or that needed to be touched up or redone. My husband is very picky and he was very pleased with the job. We have other jobs around the house.....as we will be repainting our kitchen and bathrooms along with staining our kitchen cabinets. We intend on hiring Vargas painting again and again!

This was a $599 big deal purchase. It did not work out too well, actually. They did part of the job and they saved the hardest parts for last and then ran out of time. So I talked to the owner and he said that the two places that needed to be painted were in kind of awkward spots. He quoted me a price of $120 and I said, fine. Every time we set it up they canceled. This has been going on for months and months. I have not been in touch with them for two months and I have called them 30 times to leave messages and tell them what time it would be convenient. I have only talked to the owner a couple of times. He never completed the job. They put me off a long time. They spent the day because the deal was for three painters for eight hours. They spent those eight hours at my place. I was happy to pay more and I was happy with the price they offered to finish the job, but they just never finished it. My interaction with them was okay. I spoke to the owner and when they came to do the painting of course the owner was not there, it was just the three guys. They seemed to be very pleasant and I was actually pretty happy with their work. I thought they worked pretty hard for the time they were there. I thought their work was okay. There was a lot of painting around the windows so I am going to have to do some scraping. I thought it was a good price. Their responsiveness was not good. They did come out on the day that they finally settled on. I bought the package in October and they were not very punctual about starting. It was about two months before they actually showed up to do it. I think the painters were pretty professional. I would A for the painters and a C for the owner. I would not recommend them.

The original work date was set up for a day that I would be off from work because I prefer to be onsite while work is being done in or around my home. Due to bad weather, Mr Vargas and I decided to postpone the date. Mr. Vargas convinced me to have it done on a day that I would, unfortunately, have to be at work. The power washing was successful with the exception of a piece of siding that was blown down from high up on the back side of the house. I advised Mr. Vargas of the problem and asked him to bring a tall ladder when he stopped by for payment so that he could put the siding back in place. Mr. Vargas arrived an hour and a half later than the designated time and did not have a ladder with him but promised he would send a workman by to fix the siding. The workman never came by and Mr. Vargas stopped answering my voice messages. It was my error to pay him before getting the siding back in place but I trusted Mr Vargas to follow up on his word. I waited over a week for Mr. Vargas to get back to me at which time I finally decided to contact a relative with a tall ladder to put the siding back in place.
In summary, the siding was cleaned to my satisfaction but the disregard for my time and customer satisfaction has led me to give Vargas Painting a lower rating and I will not be hiring them for future projects.
I was a little bit disappointed. He came out, looked at the house and estimated he would need about 6 gallons of paint. I went and purchased 6 gallons of paint. A few days later, his workers showed up. They painted the areas that I asked Mr. Vargas to paint. They skipped one area at the top of the gable in the house. It has an awning in front of the window. I expected them to either ask me to remove the awning, remove it themselves or paint around it. Instead, they left that part unpainted completely. They painted up to the side as they could without removing the awning. They stopped and left that part unpainted. They finished up, packed up and left. There was a minor additional cost.

They were on time, courteous and careful with my belongings. Had already moved some things away from the walls and found that the way they put them back was a better arrangement! Didn't pay for interior design service but inadvertently got it ;-).

-------

Here we are a few weeks later and I happened to look under the bed in the master bedroom. The bed is new and was assembled in the room this past July. During the painting, the first day there were two workers who moved the bed. On the second day, there was only one. That one person moved the bed back after the painting and because it was not picked up, the center leg under the frame was broken loose. When I saw that on Friday, 1/8, I called Mr. Vargas, who answered his phone. He argued that there had been two men on the second day so the damage could not have happened. I assured him that was not the case and he made an appointment to look at the bed on Monday 1/11 between 11 and 12. At 2:30 on Monday, I still had not heard from Mr. Vargas so called and left a message to ask him to come after 4 or on the next day. He did not come either time, nor did he call back. I texted him on Wednesday, 1/15 and still no response.

I'm sorry to report this, I was happy with their work and intended to give them a great deal more work in the future.

It is a Huge Deck with a double tier and tons of railings. They waiting over 7 weeks for the right weather and hit it on Saturday and had beautiful weather. Did an outstanding job. No mess. The workers never stopped until I had 2 coats of very expensive deck stain'. George the owner is very straight forward and honest. No gimmicks and no surprises. Highly recommend for house or any inside work his painters are a crew together for a long time and it shows.

Jorge did an excellent job! He properly prepared the concrete floor with an acid treatment to clean the surface and expose the pores in the concrete. After two days he applied the first coat of epoxy paint, and then applied the final second coat a few days later. This process was consistent with the procedure for epoxy coating a concrete floor that I had read online. We chose a light grey color from a very large selection of available colors. The brand of epoxy paint Jorge used, Amercoat, is one - that I recall from my work experience - is commonly used for concrete coatings in nuclear power plants, so it is evidently a high quality paint for concrete surfaces.
We would definitely hire Vargas Painting again, and I have already asked Jorge if he could come back and apply coatings to our front and back concrete porches before the winter. Jorge is also very professional and has a real pleasant personality!

Great experience from start to finish. Jorge and his people all worked long hours and did beautiful work with lots of attention to detail. Because of the house design and materials, the painting required spray gun, rollers and brushes.

Schedules were set and, except for some rain delay, met according to our discussions and plan. The workers usually arrived at 7 or 8, depending on required stops to pick up extra materials. The work areas were presentably clean at the end of each day and meticulously so at the end of the job. The final 2 days involved slow trips around the entire house, aggressively searching for anything either inadvertently missed or not done to the highest standards.

Our only issues were with the sub-contractor who wanted us to contract extra work with him. Jorge stepped in and shut that down quickly, perhaps saving use a few hundred extra. The final cost was exactly what we'd contracted for the job. His quoted price was about 10% below our other two bids AND included the needed wood working, which the others had not included. BTW, the carpenter was a new guy whom Jorge won't be using again.

My wife and I were both thrilled with the choice of Vargas Painting LLC. I gladly offered to be a reference for his use as, we'd be quite happy to use him again.

We got a call a few days before they were going to start, letting us know they would be here at 7:00am, Monday. They were here on time, each day and completed the job in one week as promised. It looks great.
