"We're sorry you're unhappy with your flooring and experience. As we have discussed in multiple conversations, humidity can play a significant factor with new hardwood flooring. A humidity of 80%, as confirmed by your photo you sent, is way too high for hardwood flooring. It was discussed, at length, the importance of maintaining your humidity within the range of 35-50%, especially since you were not residing in the home at the time. This was discussed in a verbal conversation, text messages, and an information sheet regarding your specific floor was also provided. We also recommended a discussion with the representative at Floor & Decor, as they are very familiar and knowledgable with your specific hardwood floor. Regarding the damage, it was indeed caused by too much humidity which caused the wood to swell. Regardless of the homeowner-induced damage, our subcontractor did return and fix the area involved. He removed the swollen boards and replaced them. At this time, we were made aware of the behavior of both homeowners towards our subcontractor. It was stated that he did not feel safe to return to the residence, due to his first language being Spanish. Since we work with this subcontractor on a regular basis, we trust his assessment and did not expect to hear from you again. This winter, however, you contacted us again regarding a 1/8 inch gap in your flooring. When prompted and reminded about the humidity in the home, it was discovered (via picture sent by text) that again the humidity was not within range for your specific floor, at 20%. After some discussion about humidity values and the susceptibility of new hardwood floors, we had an appointment to return today 3/12/2026 to observe the supposed "damage & installation" issue. This appointment was canceled by you after finding out Curtis would be returning, and not our subcontractor. We related to you that the disrespect that our subcontractor was subjected to during his time at your residence is the reason he would not return and Curtis, the owner of RHD, would return to inspect and fix the supposed issue. In spite of the enduring disrespect we have been shown from you during all of our documented conversations, we still agreed to try to remediate the issue. We still received insulting and threatening messages this morning, and are not surprised by your review. We hope this further explanation can clarify some of your concerns presented above. Again, we are sorry you are unsatisfied with your flooring and service. We hope your next contractor is able to provide you with a maintenance-free flooring that won't require humidity control. Respectfully, Redline Home Design"
