It was good. There were certain things that weren't covered under the plan. I'm not sure if they cut the bushes down in the back around the fence. I had to pay extra for that. They should try get me to know the schedule so I know when they're coming and when they're not coming. Other than that, it takes time to get the workers together. I like Patrick and he's the owner. The thing in the firepit was included with the mulch but he said I had to pay for the materials.

May recommend for a single job, but would never again agree to a year long contract with this landscaper. When on site, the quality of landscaping was pretty good and thorough. As mentioned, they may be a decent option for one visit, although not sure what is charged for a single job.

The problem is when agreeing to the annual contract. I felt $999 for services throughout the year was fair, especially since I would frequently be out to sea with the Navy. The landscaper came by for an initial visit and agreed to show up every 1-2 weeks, although we quickly learned this was far from reality. We frequently had to contact the landscaper to honor the agreement, which were countered with many excuses throughout the summer. We live in a well-maintained neighborhood and I had to perform my own landscaping on two occasions, since Patrick (owner of the company and head landscaper) was unreachable and the lawn had become an eyesore within our neighborhood. I have no problem performing my own landscaping, but realize I shouldn't be expected when paying $1K for this service to be performed.

Biggest disappointment came within the last couple months of contract. Patrick had recommended performing aeration/reseeding in the fall (service included within annual contract). I was fine with this recommendation, but had recently learned the Navy was transferring my wife and I to a new duty station, which required us to rent our home.

Appears the landscaping issues/timeliness of visits only got worse after we left the local area. Furthermore, when the time came for reseeding, Patrick told me we were required to pay extra for the seed. I had no problem with this, so I had mailed him a check which was cashed a couple days later. Unfortunately, I have never heard from him since. He never returned to the property and has failed to respond to any of my inquiries using a variety of communication channels.

Perhaps I was naïve to send extra money for seeding realizing I no longer resided in the local area (which he knew), especially when considering past issues, but I also realized the lawn desperately required reseeding.

In conclusion, you may get a good service if hiring Walker Landscaping for a single visit, but please heed to my advice and beware of the annual service. I believe $999 to be a fair price for an annual contract, although absolutely do not feel I got my money's worth in the end and am baffled that he cashed my check and cut off all communications. Suppose it was a good lesson learned...

His company performed so poorly I fired them, TWICE. Bottomline up front: They do an adequate job when they show up, but they are unreliable, non communicative and not worth dealing with at any price. Read on for the details.
Contract started well. Quality of mow work was average. The grass was cut, the perimeter of the lawn was edged. Detail work, such as edging the circular pavers that lead from my front porch to my mailbox was horrible. I had to remind them to do this stuff every time. But for what amounted to $40/mow I was willing to live with it given that it takes me 2 hours to do the work with my push mower,
The problem started when I asked them to do my mulch beds. They failed to show up for the first scheduled appointment without prior notice. Then when they did show up they did not bring enough material to do all the beds. They then missed the follow-up appointment without notice. When they came to followup they again did not bring enough mulch. And to make it worse they brought a different mulch. I'm not talking about color variation, I literally mean a different mulch. The first batch was fine sliver shaped pieces the size of fingers or smaller. The second batch were more like chunks ranging in size from golf balls to a balled adult fists. I discussed the lack of enough material with the owner and also told him the lack of communication was unacceptable. I did not bring up the different material issue. For a scheduled mowing between the second and third follow-up I actually received a text the night before to inform me that they would not make it.
The morning after they failed to show for the third follow-up mulch I fired them via email and requested a refund for the unused portion of the contract. I immediately received a phone call in response to that. This would be the only communication from them that I would consider timely. He apologized and told me he would get back to me with a plan to refund the money. That communication came later in the form of email. In that email he apologized and offered to refund the money in a series of 4 monthly payments. Additionally he felt very bad and offered to finish out the contract free of charge. After some consideration I accepted that offer and the repayment terms. That was the first week of July.
Fast forward to late September. To date I had only received one payment and that took several phone calls and emails to make happen. And then after three full weeks of my lawn not being mowed I fire him again. That's right, they were cutting my lawn for FREE and I still fired them. They were so unreliable I told them to stop and instead opted to give up two hours of my time every weekend to ensure the job was actually done. It is now mid October at a time when all 4 payments should have been made. The last communication from them was a month ago despite multiple calls, texts and emails inquiring about the refund owed.
I have filed a dispute with Angie's List in hopes of actually getting my refund.
Punctuality of Service: We were originally set up for one weekday for service. Due to inclement weather a couple of weeks in a row, they had to come a different day - not the provider's fault, but communication as to when they were going to come would have helped as we have dogs. After an instance of several days passing without service, Patrick finally contacted me and told me our day would be switched to another weekday (no problem for us), that he had staffing issues and that was the reason for the no show. We have still had no-shows for service (not weather related). I contacted Patrick again when no one had show up for 3 days - no return call from him, but the grass was mowed.
Services Performed: I would like to say that all services in the deal were performed, but they were not. The deal stated bed weed removal as needed. This was important to us due to lack of time due to demanding work schedules. Weed removal has not been done since the first bed clean-out.
Other: We have a A/C drain hose that extends down our driveway. On two occasions after service, the hose has been turned facing into the garage. This resulted in 1/4 - 1/3 of my garage floor getting wet. This is a problem as we have business equipment that is costly to replace.
Overall: Not satisfied and will not use again. Patrick is a very nice young man and seems to want to do well - I just think he's trying to do too much too soon in trying to grow his business.
