I found Waterproofing Inc. on Angie's List. The estimate was quick and easy. The crew came over a week later. They arrived at 8:15am and finished the job at 5:00pm. They worked hard and fast. This was dirty hot work and the never slowed down, amazing!

David came out and replaced our existing sub pump and installed a battery back up pump. He was on time and communicated with me exactly what he was going to do. When he was done he explained how both pumps worked, I understood it very well. He cleaned the u very well.

Steve Norfolk (owner) installed a new sump pump and backup battery in February 2013. We have not had a moment's trouble in three years. We recently had a power outage and things continued to work well. Since it was the first time we had to rely on the backup battery, I wasn't familiar with the change in pumping sounds, etc and worried that all was not well. I called, spoke with Mary and requested if they could come back out and check my system. Steve came out to the house, took a careful look at everything, explained (again) what to expect and what to look for in the future (i.e. - when the battery was showing signs of needing to be replaced.) He was extremely patient and thorough, and did not charge me for his time!

I cannot recommend this company highly enough - they are professional, thorough, patient and most importantly, stand behind their work and customers no matter the length of time.

The owner was very comfortable to talk to about the water leaking problem in the basement. He did a great job explaining how the job to prevent future leaks would be completed. His brother managed the crew when the job started. It went very smoothly. The team had 4 men and finished the job in only 2 days. The system has kept my basement dry through summer down pours and the most recent snow melt. No water leaks. Everyone was very courteous and efficient. I am very happy with the service.

All contacts with the office were professional. An answering service typically takes a message so expect return calls. I had 1/2 the basement drain done years before by another company (another review). I had the budget for the remainder and contacted Waterproofing Inc.
The differences in quality and crew between the two contractors were stark, with Waterproofing Inc. failing to meet the standard. The prices were the same.
The crew consisted of 3 people in one truck who showed up at 9AM and then quit at 12 noon. I was stunned. Now this goes another day? The crew was small and clearly the foreman was suffering greatly from the exertion. He mentioned he normally doesn't do the labor. I gathered the normal crew or foreman quit. Anyway they left because they didn't have the required stone.
As for cleanliness, they didn't use any equipment to pull out the dust during the demolition of the perimeter. Some plastic was installed to limit dust. Bottom line on cleanliness - I had a great deal of dust on my stuff at the end of the job.
The procedure for basement perimeter drain is kind of cookie cutter but quality, materials, and workmanship is where differences is made.
The drain pipe was black corrugated perforated - not the quality as the other half but others use it.
The stone for the trench was unwashed and same stone was used to mix with cement is what was put in drain. So my drain system will have to absorb this mess over time.
The contractor recommended against putting a layer of polyethylene (essentially plastic) on top of the gravel before the concrete is placed. I was told that having plastic causes moisture on the finished slabs. I insisted on it. I happen to know better.
When I took the lid off the sump pump and checked out the tie in I had to ask them to trim back the pipe. It extended into the pit and up against the vertical pump pipe. They should have checked this.
The concrete mix was extremely wet. The mix was just amateur. I said as much. They seemed to be short of cement. So now the surface is permanently dusty. You can sweep all day and it will always be dusty.
The company should have never attempted my job with the lack of people, equipment, and knowledge. They lost a crew for some reason and I paid the price.
I should have had the courage to tell them to leave on day one and not return. I could tell things were not right from the small crew and one truck that showed up at 9 am. I knew for sure when they left after 3 hours on day one.
Steve Norfolk and his crew dug down to the footing and applied the waterproof material a section at a time. The original plan was to dig the entire area first and then apply the waterproof material all at the same time. However daily torrential rains turned the area into a sea of mud, so he decided to do it a section at a time to minimize problems associated with the rain. He had to break up a concrete slab (porch) for 1/2 the front, and approximately 25 feet of driveway next to the house. Progress was slow due to the rain and mud, but Steve steadfastly pursued the completion of the job despite the setbacks. Although justifiably discouraged by the rain and lack of progress, he exhibited a positive "can do" attitude and kept at it. The finished product was professionally done. Backfill and all concrete were properly completed, and grass seed applied. Steve is a conscientious professional who knows his business and can be relied upon to do the work he says he will accomplish. I would use him again in a heartbeat.
The price was competitive, there was a minor hickup in installation and the install took longer than expected, but overall things went well and now after almost a year, I can say the sump pump is working well and is much quieter than my prior model. We intend on using them again once we move to install a similar set-up in our new home.
Steve Norfolk (owner) returned my call quickly, came out to inspect my basement within 24 hours and gave me an estimate that was significantly less then another "national" provider. He got me on his schedule promptly and his crew came out on time, performed the work, cleaned up after themselves and I have not had a water problem since that time.
The old drain was removed and a 12" X 12" X 12" box drain was installed with a 4" diameter pipe to my inside the house sump pump. This replaced a poorly installed 1-1/2" drain installed by the builder. In the past, water would enter the basement over the sill of the basement door because the old drain couldn't keep up with the water. The new drain just got it's baptism by ordeal with the 6+ inches of rain that fell recently and not a drop of water came in the house!
The two gentlemen that came were very professional, and left the property as clean as they found it as if they had never been there. Could not ask for any better service. Thank you!
Steve came to consider the problem and give me an estimate. He seemed very thoughtful and sincere. We agreed on the price and the date when work would start. With no delays, the work started on the agreed-upon date. Steve's brother Dave does the actual deconstruction and puts in the drainage. He has a team of three men, including himself, and they completed the job in 3 days. It may have been the hottest 3 days of the summer but they didn't complain--I couldn't believe how diligent they were. And they didn't "thrash." We've probably all had people working on our homes that made us wonder if the house was going to be standing when they were through. These guys were great--I'd definitely call them professionals. Once they finished, I had a couple items I wanted done a different way. That was no problem. They came back and finished it very much to my satisfaction. Whenever I called the company, I received a call back. I would definitely use Waterproofing, Inc. again but I think my problem is solved. I'm not worried because the company gives a lifetime warranty and I have no doubt that they will stand behind their word.
They are great! Fair prices and great service. Very responsive, thorough, and customer service focused. We called four companies and they were the only ones to call back for an estimate. And boy am I glad they did. The basement passed the first major test tonight. Not one drop of water! And the sump pump works great. Would definitely recommend this company. The workers were polite and professional. Overall a great company.
The company showed up on time and immediately asked to be given all the information needed for the installation. They made sure to tell me about the battery back up, how they were going to install it and how it performs. The installation was quick and done professionally. Afterwards they showed me the work they completed and how the unit will function in a power outage. I would recommend them to anyone that would be looking for some assistance.
Interaction with the company was good from beginning to end. Owned by a husband and wife team, they were quickly responsive to my request for an estimate; they scheduled the agreed-upon work in a very reasonable amount of time. The project itself was completed in one-day. The crew was on time, very careful to prepare the work space, pleasant to be around, finished when predicted, and did a good job of cleaning up the unavoidable mess. I had dreaded having this work done because of the upheaval of ripping up part of the concrete floor; however, the crew made the project easy for me to endure.
I would not hesitate to use this company again in the future. I would happily recommend this company to family and friends.
I knew what to expect from talking to the owner of the company, Steve Norfolk, and reading reviews of this type of work on Angie's list. It was going to be a messy and noisy job, and it was. However, the noise wasn't as bad as I expected from the jack hammering of the concrete floor and drilling into the walls. The two men who did the installation were very good about cleaning up the work area at the end of the day and when the job was completed. They were also very polite and answered any questions I had as the job went along. I was very satisfied with the way the basement looked when the job was completed. Steve's wife Mary was great too, when I asked for an owner's manual for the sump pump and battery backup, she immediately put the papers in the mail. The reason it took so long for me to finally write a review is that I was waiting for hurricane season to end, hoping to see how the system worked in a big storm. It figures that it was a quiet hurricane season! However, we did have 6 inches of rain over a two day period in October and the basement was totally dry.
Mary scheduled the appointment and called to confirm. Dave did the installation. He arrived on time, was polite, and accommodated our request on where to locate the battery for the system. He showed me how to use the system and left the room clean as if no work had been done. The main pump probably is nearing the end of its life and we will use this company again to replace it.
An excellent experience from Steve's initial visit and estimate, through the company's follow-up and prompt answers to my (many) questions.. The crew was terrific, courteous, friendly, professional, and communicated very well.. As an architect, I will recommend Waterproofing, Inc. to my clients in need of their services.
We have a finished basement and a crawl space in the storage area of our basement. We have found after large rain storms recently water has been increasing in our crawl space. After one storm we found over 6 inches of water above the gravel in the crawl space and purchased a temporary pump to pump out the water, discarded the plastic vapor barrier with concern of mold growing on it and began to see seepage through the foundation wall to the basement.
In order to find a solution we scheduled four appointments with Angie's list highly regarded basement waterproofing contractors. We were surprised to find that each contractor provided different solutions ranging in cost from $13,814 to $1,950. We were impressed with Mr. Norfolk's honesty and straight forward approach. He noted that he could do some of the solutions provided by other contractors with piping systems to a sump pump but suggested to start with a more cost effective solution of just adding a sump pump to the crawl area and replacing the current basement sump pump that was 27 years old. If additional solutions were needed in the future he could preform them but why spend the extra money at this time if not necessary. The work was performed on February 1st and took two workman 3.5 hours to complete. The workman explained how the system worked and asked that we please follow up if we had any questions. The only area I could see improvement was clean up as after they cleaned up I had to again sweep the work area and vacum the carpets covered by their drop cloths. There was also debris and concrete mix left on the driveway.
The experience was very good. They called often to confirm the date and time.
The work had to be done between Christmas and New Years due to our availibility and they were able to accomodate us during the holiday break. The work was started and completed within 2 days.
