About us

Please read my company description because i have made important changes and additions of great importance. to reach me faster text me at (816) 918-8286. Please call or text me so I can help you. I guarantee my work 100 PERCENT> If the reason for the callback is through a fault of my workmanship I will make it right. NO questions asked< Sometimes the fault lies in the way the plumbing system was installed or possibly an existing issue with original material or system design. Be assured I will do my best to make it right for you with the least amount of cost possible. But If I do not know there is a problem with any of my work then how can I ever help you. After a few days, few weeks, several months or even a year later to be then told about a problem is not the right way.;)) ;)) ;)) Owner/operator, have NO employees. (((B,S,M,E, Univ. of MO. 1971))) Do all work myself. Initially, started my apprenticeship in 1971 with my fathers' (Sam Nussbaum) company, Tip Top Plumbing and then started my business in 1978 and have well over 40 years experience in all phases of plumbing and drain work. I do all the work myself except I use subs for underground work and opening of main line stoppages. Since I do all the work myself, I do run late sometimes, especially in colder weather. I do free estimates, but, in colder weather, emergencies take priority over estimates when property damage or the possibility of property damage is very certain. Especially some out-of-season estimates that are not a priority in colder weather. Some people understand this and some do not. I appreciate the very nice, understanding comments from those who do. When it appears I am running late I encourage people to call me and check in on my progress or just to generally check on my progress that day for a friendly reminder to help me keep to my schedule. To my customers who use Angie’s List wish to email me for work or estimates please email me directly as I will get your info much faster and avoid the delay contacting me through their website. Please, simply call and leave a quick voicemail. I will get your information much quicker. Also, you can text me through my office number (816 918 8286) for an even faster way to get in touch with me. My direct email is mel.nuss@gmail.com. As a bonus for reading the entire description ask for '50% off' of the trip charge which is up to a '$35.00 value'. Again, please note that I did sell quite a few of my current coupon offering. I am NOT perfect. No one is. Sometimes I am slow or even neglectful in updating my schedule. Please feel free to remind me if you want to of an upcoming appointment that we might have. This could remind me if I am being neglectful of my upcoming jobs or estimates and save you, the homeowner, of a wasted morning or afternoon. Award winning. PLEASE NOTE: Only one coupon or discount allowed per job...

Mel is the greatest, it is too bad Angie's List scammed him.

He got us in good working order, and then came about 10 days later to install a replacement facet. Our backs were up against the wall had he not come quickly to help us out. Mel has been in business for a long, long time and I just don't know what we will do for plumbing assistance when he retires. He is simply THE BEST.

The water heaters were repaired and we have had no leaks. The total cost was $115 ($75 for labor and $40 for parts). He also gave us free estimates for additional plumbing repairs. He did a full review of the plumbing in our older home for free (built about 1935).

Great! Showed up timely. Had a faucet that fit with him. The water to the house wasn't off very long at all. Cleaned up all the mess, and was very pleasant to be around. Went straight to work, no phone calls or distractions. Good experience.

They were very professional and accommodating. I purchased the service for a friend. She was very difficult. They went above and beyond to complete the job and did not even charge her for some of the services provided .

Mel was prompt and gave us an estimate. He was also kind enough to give us a credit for a coupon we were not aware of. He did a great job, was courteous and even pointed out a few problems for us to watch. He was very knowledgeable and his work was top-notch. We will definitely use him again as our house seems to be a magnet for plumbing problems!

Mel was great! I had called another plumbing company and they wanted an incredibly high price to snake out my kitchen drain. I simply could not afford them. So Angie's List sent me a list of plumbers and I called Water Works. I spoke with Mel and he was so understanding and said his price was about half of the other company. I made an appointment for the next morning and Mel was right on time! I snaked out my kitchen sink drain and even put the proper pipe underneath the the previous owner had all wrong. I was so grateful that there are still honest people out there that charge a fair price. I will definitely keep Water Works number should I need any future plumbing needs.

Mel was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and thorough. His knowledge and experience are really reassuring, since it is so important to trust the people who work in my home, fixing things that I have not the know-how or ability to take care of myself.

We neglected to remove an exterior hose from a water pipe last fall. Unknown to us, it caused a pipe to burst on the inside of the wall of our basement. The first time we used the outside spigot, the leak sprayed water all over one corner of the basement. We called Mel and he told us what to do to stop the leak and be able to use the water in our house overnight. He came out the next morning and replaced the affected pipe and outdoor faucet.
He checked the source of a leaky tub faucet. I had fixed the leak weeks earlier, but the leak returned. He has many years of experience as a plumber, but it took him a while to diagnose the problem, which he finally concluded was what I had proposed when he arrived. And he forgot to cover the open pipe with a bucket when I turned on the water and as a result, my bathroom floor was covered with a pool of water. Granted, it's just water, and he mopped it up with my towels, but he isn't real detail-oriented. Plus, his truck was a mess. I don't know how he can find anything. At the end of the day, I paid over $200 for his visit plus time (he was there more than two hours) and he didn't fix the problem. A few weeks later, we noticed water leaking below through garage ceiling below the tub. Another plumber immediately pointed out it was because there was no caulking around the plate and water was seeping behind it. How come Water Works didn't see that? I would not use him again. Not my kind of contractor.
Response from Water Works Plumbing
"i would like to remind this customer that i was there because she had no hot water pressure to her tub/shower faucet......my visit had nothing to do with a leaky tub. she had tried to fix the faucet with a generic stem which sometimes is not a good idea. i only use OEM stems and have great success. she did not complain to me about a leaking tub. i dont use caulk i use putty behind the chrome escuchions. i have never had a problem. she could be confused or doesnt remember why i was out there initially. when i left all was well and she was happy. yes...some water got onto the floor but was minimal and was cleaned up rapidly with no mess or damage. she didnt seem upset at the time. by the way, there is nothing wrong with the inside of my truck....everything has its place."

"report is 4 years old. she did not say what failed or was it even my previous work. just for everyones info going forward, I fully guarantee all my work and, if I knew she had a further problem, I would have gone back out for free and graciously do a check to see if it was a callback on my previous work. but i cannot help anyone who waits for years to do a report and also doesnt call me immediately if there is a furthur problem."

The sinks were installed in such a way that access to the faucet was next-to-impossible. He had to hand-tool a part from the new faucet we purchased simply to get it installed correctly. This involved taking the piece back to his shop to tool it, and returning on the same day to finish the job. He worked until 8:30 PM to make sure it was good to go. Through all of it he was personable and entirely professional. I will use Mel again and again in the future.
Fine job resetting toilet. Absolutely no help regarding leak from bathroom. Did not bother to carefully inspect shower plumbing. Another contractor later quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem long after a wasted service call from water works. In the mean time, we were unable to use the bathroom.
Response from Water Works Plumbing
"i inspected everything. all i had to go on was a knocking sound in the wall and several dried up spots that were on a ceiling in a workroom. the homeowner was with me the entire time. we ran water for quite sometime and could not produce any leaks anywhere whatsoever. sure, i could have cut up his kitchen ceiling and the workroom ceiling but i chose not to because we did not have an active leak anywhere. i dont like cutting holes in peoples ceilings unless we have true wet spots or water is coming thru the ceiling. i spent some time on this part of the service call and dont believe i charged for this part of the call. told homeowner to continue to observe the ceilings in question and let me know if anything changes. the sounds i heard in the wall to me was thermal expansion of the hot waterlines. if there was a leak in the walls i would have noticed water coming onto the floor under the trim. i didnt hear from them in months and then get this nasty report. anything could have happened during the time from the service call to the date of this report. without knowing what these people are talking about then i feel this report should not be reflective of my previous work and time spent on the investigation of the sounds in the wall nor the very dry spots on the ceilings. by the way, this job goes back to February of this year. A lot could have happened in all these months. sometimes it takes time for the monster to raise its ugly head. without being in contact with them in these several months and without given an opportunity to know what has happened i feel this report is very unfair."
