Wathey Handyman Service

All work was done over two days and the results were outstanding. We asked him if he could also work on our front steps. He gave us a verbal estimate of about $400 and said he'd come the following week for it. He never came despite several phone calls and email messages. I would happily give John more business. However, I think he switched his focus to the hunting season and we completely dropped off of his radar, I'm sorry to say. Multiple attempts to reach him over the past several months were unsuccessful. This is the only reason I cannot give him full marks.

Wathey Handyman Service remodeled our other house too. He is really reasonable and gives a good estimate even if he has to come back to redo something. Something in our other house wasn't completely flush and he returned to fix it. They are very trustworthy and are great around my kids. I don't have a problem with them having a key to my house. I was very pleased with the price. The biggest thing is that I can trust them and that is why I have recommend them to many of my friends. He will come in on time, do exactly what he says he will, finish on time and be honest with his price. He also has a good eye for things and helped guide us through problems with our old house.

I use them all the time. The only issue is that he forgets to let you know until the last second whether he'll be there or not. He finishes the job before he goes on to another, which makes him pretty efficient. He is a very personable guy and he's a good PR man.

The project was such a success that we have hired him again to do a larger remodel. I can't say enough good about this company.

John came promptly as agreed to produce an estimate. The estimate was e-mailed as agreed and the work started as indicated. He even went and purchased new paint in the proper color after finding that the paint left over from our last painting was no longer good. Extremely reliable service.

He repaired rear screens. He did a good job. The only problem was he stepped on a sprinkler head. He did not repair it but stopped it from leaking.

They did a fantastic job and the door looks and operates better than it did when the house was built 10 years ago.

The job list grew as issues were discovered, particularly with old plumbing and valves for toilets, sinks and washer hook up. All work was estimated and approved. When completed, the walk through was quick, and everything went smoothly.

Long, drawn-out process. This job commenced in July 2009. There were some repairs that had to be re-done. Unfortunately the first door replaced was not adequate and poorly designed. A special door purchased from Home Depot was ordered and installed. The door proved to be constructed incorrectly. After photos were submitted to HD...a new door was ordered. Wait for replacement door was weeks/months long, due to holidays and economy. John Wathey completed the job in February, 2010. We are satisfied with the work and would recommend him to others.

John was quick to reply to my initial request for a quote and came out to do the estimate. He took his time explaining what would need to be done and emailed us a quote as agreed. Because both my wife and I felt comfortable with him and price seemed fair, we decided to have him go ahead with the job. On the work date, John and his helper actually showed up a bit early and got started right away. All three jobs were completed in roughly 2 hours, well less than the amount of time I had set aside and everything was cleaned so that you would never have known that work had done around the doors and window. Overall, I would highly recommend John. We will definitely use his services again in the future.

Work and estimate performed in a professional and business-like manner. Appeared competent and knowledgeable for work performed.

John and I talked about replacing the complete doors and the frames. He provided wonderful ideas, indications and ideas. John is excellent at explaning and working with peoples ideas. When I asked if he could replace the water filters he told me it would be a good idea to remove the existing ones. The filters he recommended would be easy for me to replace each year rather than having someone else come it to do it. Watching John work will show us all who great his skills are and how perfect his work is to match our ideas and replacement/repair needs. I recommend him to all my friends who may need something done in their home. John also has a good humor, smile and great working attitudes

I had seen a wonderful example of a good experience with John in the Angies List book and decided to try him out. From the start, I could tell he was an honest, kind, intelligent man who would really listen to what you want and give an honest quote. He even dissuaded me from some further work we were thinking about that he said was unnecessary and expensive. I appreciated that. When John and his crew showed up, they got straight to work and got the deck built in one day and it is built so well it's not going anywhere! Great workmanship and professionalism. They were here over the course of four days and cleaned up nicely every day after themselves. We wanted a custom-built fence across our carport, Asian-style grid fencing with a gate to leave a more open feeling and go with our love of Asian-styling. He had never done this kind of fencing but gladly went with me to view another home with a similar design, took pictures of the fence, took his assistant over to look at it too and, voila'!, they created this fence and it is sturdy AND beautiful, plus it passed City of Temple Terrace inspection!!! They ran into various problems small and large inside the home with it being a 1957 older home with lots of quirks but they patiently marched back and forth to the hardware store to resolve whatever came up and attempted to save me money at the same time. The workmanship and completion of everything was fabulous and I just feel so much better that my house is back together and improved and I have every confidence it will stay that way for a long time to come. John and his crew were easy to work with, communicated all along the way with what they were doing and very professional and courteous as well as, as I mentioned before, cleaning up and leaving everything as it was. John does not undercut his prices but nor should he-you get what you pay for with him and, if there is any problem afterward, he assured returning to make it right. I see all the hallmarks of a man who takes pride in his work and does what he says and that is worth paying for! Thanks John and see you soon!

John was prompt, left the work area spotless and charged exactly what he quoted. The work was done quickly and professionally. My husband was initially skeptical about hiring a handyman but John immediately won him over with his knowledge and diligence. He did great work at an affordable price and we will certainly call him again.

I wasn't there for the installation, but when I went to look at the gate, the latch was 3 inches higher than the part that it goes into on the gate and we have to use string to keep the gate shut. He just left it that way. I tried to call him but he never called back. I would never use him again.

Excellent responsiveness and timely. Shelves are good and sturdy. John even recommended a less expensive, better quality product than I originally planned to have him install. Good work!

Very prompt and courteous. Quickly evaluated and determined no further damage. Completed the work promptly and efficiently. This is my second report on Wathey Handyman Service and again I cannot recommend them highly enough.

They set up their work space in backyard, set ladder to roof in perfect ways. When removed old wood they taught me what old type wood did & what their wood would do & it would last forever. They worked well on roof, kept yard clean and are excellent with skills and techniques.

Mr John's did an excellent job with outstanding Handyman skills, knowledge and techniques. The chimney how is brand new and looks perfect on my roof.

John arrived on time to inspect the area that needed to be repaired and e-mailed me a written quote the following day. We scheduled a time to perform the work, and he arrived as agreed. He performed the work with the help of one assistant. He completed the work as agreed upon and cleaned the work areas at the completion of the job. We are very pleased with the job performed by John and would hire him again for future work.

His work done was meticulous and looks great, he even came back the next morning (Saturday) to complete unexpected painting (paint matching with old piece of wood @ the paint store). Cleaned the area and hauled the wood pieces away. John was professional and will ask him to complete additional work around our home.
