After reading Watry Homes reviews on this site, we contacted them in March. I had reached the point where I no longer wanted to maintain the house, and after researching siding options and speaking to other home owners, was seeking a contractor to install what I believed was the best siding solution, Hardy Plank. It was our intention to have the work done before the summer months, to avoid the disruption and scheduling conflicts which inevitably happen in high season.

Scott Watry came out and inspected/measured the house on March 17, presented window options and gave an overview of the process. Within a week we had an estimate and we gave him the commitment assuming the work would begin as soon as materials were received within a few weeks. The project did not get underway, however, until June 4th, the day I was leaving for two weeks of travel. My wife provided daily updates in my absence, and glowing reviews of Scott's workers, specifically, Paul and Rob who came in and installed the windows and doors. I met these guys later and they are true professionals who pay close attention to detail. The siders were also efficient and meticulous in their work, and cleaned up every day. The crew had a few guys, but Roberto, who appeared to be their lead, was very responsive to every question or request, and went out of his way to be accommodating. Splattered paint on a portion of our patio and sill appeared to be their only misstep.

In the end, we have a job that met our expectations in terms of quality, fit and finish. It was the punch list of several small items and requests which was emailed to Scott in mid-June that made the final conclusion of the project a little rocky. It turned out that part of the roof over our den did not receive adequate flashing necessary to prevent a leak that ensued after five days of rain. Scott insisted that it was the result of layers of caulk installed by someone else, inadequately sealing an inside corner of the roof. Dan, who was sent out later to make the repair, said the caulk and sealing had been done by their siders, and was still wet. Scott agreed to place a drywall patch in the interior ceiling where there was water damage, but I spent the better part of a day painting the ceiling, trim and walls to original condition once this was done. This put a damper on an otherwise great experience with Watry.

We totally respect Watry's workers and the diligence they exemplified every day. My feelings about Scott with him not taking ownership of the leak and the damage it caused was unfortunate because it would have been so easy to simply do so without casting blame on others. I also feel it would have been appropriate to personally stop by at the project's conclusion (today), to ensure he had a satisfied customer. As it was, he called and asked me to give a check for final payment to his worker before he left, without asking me if I was completely satisfied. In my view, the size and scope of our project would dictate that he do so.

However, I would not be hesitant to recommend them as a reference primarily because of his crews.

Watry Homes replaced the roof and chimney on our duplex. The roof was approximately 21-22 square and needed a complete tear off of three layers - including the original shake. The chimney was rebuilt from just below the roof line. We originally asked for an estimate to just tuck point the chimney but it was well past that point. The roof was finished in two days. They were careful of our neighbors' houses on either side of ours and cleaned up afterwards. The chimney took a little bit longer but no worries. Overall they did good work and charged a fair price. I can't ask for more than that.
Response from Watry Homes LLC
"After the windows were installed (install took 2 days) we noticed a lot of bug/inspects around the window trim. At that point I had my guys spray for bugs. According to the spay it was recommended to not cover over the wood for 14 days. So I had my guys come back and clad the exterior of the windows after the 14 days. I left 6 voice messages for the customer during the job, but never received a call back. I just thought they were busy and were not very concerned with it. The windows can be caulked on the inside, but don't need to be. It is more of an aesthetic decision. I left another voice message with the customer about that, but I have not heard back from them. I'm hoping the customer will call back so I can work out any and all concerns they may have. The windows look great. I just want to make sure the customer is 100% happy with everything we did at their home. Their complete satisfaction is my only concern."

I was cleaning out my gutters when I noticed that some were bent which was leading to leaves and anything else getting stuck in them. Also along the back of my house there was a hole causing water to leak out. I made the call on Friday to Watry Homes and as of yesterday they are fixed. It took maybe two hours or so to get the hole covered and to bend the gutter back into shape. I also got a quote for my siding while they were they so that when I am ready I can get both things replaced. I can not say enough about Scott who came out and did a great job of letting me know what was needed and what I would be looking at in terms of fixing now vs replacing. A lot of times a company will try to just say you need everything new when that may not be the case. Which makes me feel good to now yet again I made a great choice.

Along with some other home needs the Watry crew installed some new windows on my dormers of my house. They installed double hung windows. They removed the old ones and disposed of all the garbage from the project. The new vinyl windows look great and now allow me to open the windows with ease.

The Watry crew worked all day and installed a new roof on my home. It looks great. They tore off the old shingles and repaired some old areas and installed GAF shingles. At the end of the day all the debris was cleaned up and the yard looked great.

I was so grateful to Watry Homes for the work replacing my gutters/soffit and fascia
Dave Watry of Watry Homes came over to my house, got on roof, and explained exactly what needed to be done in words I understood. I felt I got a great deal. They contracted with a gutter place from Oostburg. Now I have great looking, working gutters with the special mesh so we don't have to clean them out every fall.

I used this provider because of good reviews and because a colleague of mine recommended them. They had replaced his roof about a year ago. AFTER I signed the contract and work was to start my friend called to say that his roof had a leak after one year. Watry did come right out to fix his roof again so they seemed to stand behind their work. I told Watry about this and they assured me of what happened and that it was being fixed.
We them went ahead with them on the job. They started on time. They subcontracted and most everyone on the job spoke nothing but spanish. The job went really fast, with a huge crew. It seemed to go well. They cleaned everything up and so far it looks good and we have not had a problem with leaks.( Its only been one month).
Last fall I called around to many companies looking for a quote on my roof that was having a issue leaking. After dealing with 6 or so different places about quotes many of which turned out to be what they call storm chasers I came upon Watry Homes through a friend who had used them. Not only did I get a next day quote but I also got a quick and painless date set up for my roof to be replaced. A few days later what looked to be a small army came reading to get the job done. A dumpster was brought in take off the two roofs that were on there and before I new it they were done with that part of the job. Next up a truck came and loaded all the materials and they went to work. The following day they showed up early and put the final touches on. A big part of the job was making sure all the venting was right because whoever had the roof put on before done failed to do so. I now have vents in my bathrooms that work thank god as well as a vent along the whole roof to avoid issues going forward. The dumpster was picked up and the crew finished up the cutting along the edges and came down and explained everything. Warranty, types of products used, what I can expect going forward. While up there they also fixed some issues I was having with my rain gutters which save me time as well as money. This summer I am looking at having my house sided as the paint is chipping away in some areas. The first call I will be making when I become ready is to Watry because we went from a winter in 2013 of being cold with the heat high to being able to turn that heat down and using the fireplace. Which had been another issue. It turned out that the home inspector failed to tell us when we bought it that the chimney was not fully covered which led to some cold nights. This was all fixed when the new roof was put on because of the fact that they put the pieces around that did the job. I can not say enough about this company and have told many how good they are. While I dont look forward to spending the money on siding I do look forward to seeing how different our house will look. Thank you for a great job and making me look like a great guy to my wife for not having to spend our entire bank account on our roof. Talk to you very soon.
Regards,
Jeff E
Watry Homes did a wonderful job with my roof. Their people were on-time and very courteous. I was super impressed by how well they cleaned up after themselves and how wonderful they were with my kids running around - always wanting to see what they were doing.
They did the roof a few years back, and it still looks great - no problems. I called them again now that I'm ready to get the windows replaced. Once again, they were complete professionals -on time and very knowledgeable.

We moved into our home about three years ago. Our home was painted brick on the first floor and cedar siding everywhere else. We knew that we needed to either paint everything which would include a carpenter to replace a large percentage of the cedar siding due to rotting wood or replace it with some other material. After a lot of research on siding materials I found that Hardy Plank was what we wanted to replace our cedar siding with. Hardy Plank comes with a 30 year warranty and the only recomended company by the James Hardy company was Watry Homes.
I was extremely pleased with the response I received from Watry Homes. They were very communicative from the beginning of the project. They were also able to fit us in right away and accommodated our schedule. The crew they sent out was beyond wonderful. Not only did they do an impeccable job with their instillation but they were pleasant to have around. The Job site was kept as clean as possible considering the work that was being done. I would absolutely recommend Watry Homes without hesitation.
