Ron was quick to come out and give us an estimate, which we appreciated. He gave us a date of when he would be out as well to do the work. No one arrived on that day, and no one called to explain why or set a new date for work. We had already prepaid for some of the work, so we were concerned. We did finally receive a call a few days later and a new Date was set, where again no one showed and no phone call. A week later, they came out and do the work. The patio looks great, however, they poured a step that looks terrible. Concrete went underneath the area they poured and the step looks like a dried ball of crumbling concrete on the sides of it. Also, we accidentally overpaid by $100. After calling to get it addressed, and to get the step fixed, we received no answer for over a week. After many phone calls and messages, we finally received a call back, where they apologized and were kind enough to agree to pay us back without needing to argue anything. I was grateful. They also said someone would come fix the step. I wish I could attach a picture of how bad it looks. No one came out, we were not reimbursed any money, and if I don’t hear back this week I’m calling the BBB to try to get my money back.

A few months ago, I hired WB Construction, LLC. to do some concrete work at our new house. Rob, the owner, and I went over the details in great detail two times and he appeared to take very detailed notes about what I wanted and what he was to do. He was to widen my driveway by three feet on each side and pour a 12x12 concrete slab behind the house. The 12x12 concrete slab behind the house is for a future storage shed. The slab was to be centered between the corner of the house and a basement window. This was so the storage shed would not be highly visible from the road and would better blend in with the community. When the work crew set the forms for the driveway extension, they set the forms for two feet – not three feet that we had agreed on. The crew said they were told two feet. They called Rob and he told them to go ahead and make it three. A big issues that the contract specifically called for was rebar for the concrete to strengthen it as well as to tie it to the current driveway. I just happened to drive by my house and saw that over half of the concrete had already been poured. I stopped and noticed that there was no rebar anywhere in the sections that had not yet been poured. I questioned the crew and they all agreed that they were not told to put in rebar. When they called Rob, he tried to assure me that the concrete was just as solid without rebar as it was with the rebar. Had I not happened to drive by when they were pouring the concrete, I would have assumed it was done as we had agreed. The 12x12 square slab ended up being 11’9 x 12.3 and was not even close to being centered. In fact, it was much closer to the corner of the building than centered. I have tried to work with Rob but he said the job is complete and he isn’t budging. (He did offer to refund the actual cost for the rebar itself but that would do nothing for the strength or stability of the extension.) When Rob first came to give an estimate, he was very friendly and seemed to have a thorough knowledge of what to do. However, when I began to question certain things, he tried to throw his crew under the bus. Later, he said that he was too busy to oversee every individual job. The contract called for the crew to clean up after the job. The driveway was left was lots of gravel, mud, and some kind of white power all over the driveway. My wife finally had to go out and clean it herself. (I was not allowed to for health reasons.) Personally, I have found Rob to be untrustworthy and undependable. In my case, he definitely did not keep his word on what he promised and what he delivered. I would never recommend him to anyone. But if someone wants to use him, make sure that you record every conversation. Make sure that every minute, microscopic detail is spelled out in writing – and I do mean every detail. However in my case, even having it in writing didn’t help because he either “forgot” or he blamed his crew for not doing what they were told even when they all agreed they were never told.

For what we had done it was all good. Two patios and a stair repair. Ron was quick to respond with an estimate and they were able to start work the next day. I liked that he was at the job working with his guys. He was responsive to questions and minor changes and I felt he wanted the job done correctly. Hope the concrete holds up for a long time.

Ronnell Whatley and his Team were amazing. We told them what we wanted and they did it. Ronnell came out to give us a quote, explained what would be done and when they would start. He held true to his word. The crew was very respectful, hard working, pleasant and they cleaned everything up and we had 90 degrees. One more thing what impressed us “they actually worked as a Team”. We can highly recommend them and we would hire them again. A big THANK YOU to Ron and his Crew for a GREAT JOB. Andy +Guddy Gawura
