Great, the rain held things up for a while but once started the job went quickly . The workers were professional, talented and the price was great.I am very happy with completed work.I would hire them again if I get any other cement work done.

The first red flag from this company was in the beginning and the fact that it was so hard to get a hold of this company, however, when we finally got in touch with Westmoreland Concrete, and they gave us a quote that worked with our budget.  If I knew what I do now, I would've went with another company.   <br /> It took three attempts to frame our driveway and sidewalk correctly, but other than that, the actual process went smoothly.  It wasn't until we were close to the finished product when Mike, the owner, treated us extremely poorly.  Our project was not even completed, and he called us demanding his final payment.  When I spoke to him, I reminded him that project was not even finished and, according to his contract, the final payment was due upon completion.  The day Mike stated that our job was completed, my family was not even home yet, and Mike called again demanding the money.  I told him that we were still driving home from work, but we would be home within the hour to look at the finished product and then we could meet at our house or somewhere else to have him pick up the final payment.  Out of the blue and for no good reason at all, Mike started yelling at me over the phone and then hung up.  Thinking I lost the call because I didn't think a professional would hang up on a customer that gave him business and paid everything on time, I called him back, and restated what I said about meeting to drop off the final payment as soon as I got home from work (since I was still driving home), and he yelled again and started threatening me and then hung up.  At this point, I was completely blindsided by Mike's odd, terrifying and unprofessional behavior to the point that I had contacted the local police.   <br /> Since I was so shocked and appalled by Mike's behavior, I did not even have a chance to look at the finished product before going to the police station.  Only to find out when I got home and looked at the project, it was unfinished: there was sealing that needed to be placed where the expansion joints were, Westmoreland Concrete left piles of broken concrete on our site, and they splattered concrete on our brick.  They never cleaned up the piles of broken concrete, but they did come back to finish the seals and clean the concrete off the brick, which ruined the brick further, but the point is that Mike treated my family horrifically, and his claim was because our job was done, and he wanted our final payment, which I was agreeing to make as soon as I arrived home from work.  Nonetheless, the day he acted this way was not even the "last day" because he still had work to do to complete this project.   <br /> The final payment was made that day, even before they were actually finished with the project site, so there was no reason why a customer should ever be treated the way I was, which is why I wanted to state my experience.  Not only did Mike display such unprofessionalism, odd behavior, and total disrespect for paying customers, but his company left piles of broken concrete in our yard, unfinished work, and his company's workers left splattered concrete on our brick, which has ruined our brick.   <br /> <br />

This was hands down the most awful experience we have ever had with any contractor. I could write a book detailing the year long nightmare that ensued but I will try to keep this review to a minimum. Mike was prompt to return my phone call and to come out to our home to give us an estimate on repairing our front porch. Mike presented as very knowledgeable and kind and the price was not bad in comparison to other companies who gave us bids. A contract was signed in July 2012 for Mike and his crew to repair our front porch. Then the nightmare began... Our job was pushed off for one reason after another until Nov. Once work began we encountered all kinds of issues such as Mike's crew showing up with instructions to do work that was not agreed upon at all, such as capping the porch instead of demoing it and parging only the top half of the walls instead of the walls as a whole to make them appear uniform. The parging work was so terrible that Mike came back 2 times to redo it and each time it only looked worse. To make matters worse, there was water coming in from all sides because Mike did not seal the walls correctly.  The concrete was poured unevenly which not only left it discolored but also left holes in the concrete where the slab met the wall of the house. This left water drip in from the slab. Unluckily enough, this is where there is a light and electrical wiring inside of the cold room underneath. We had puddles of water from water coming in from the slab and the walls. This went on for months and months. Every time Mike came out to fix his work he ended up making it worse somehow. He seemed to realize he was losing money on this job so he kept trying to fix it fast and cheap which only ended up worsening every issue. After an enitre year of mistakes and being pushed off, Mike tried to tell us that the job was done. He didn't like us anymore than we liked him at this point. There were still so many problems neither one of us knew how to begin to fix them. Mike ended up refunding our money. That sounds great in theory except for the damage he left behind in his dust. We had to hire another company to reparge and seal the walls to get the water to stop seeping in. This new company we hired completed this in 3 days with no problem. We couldn't address the holes in the concrete because winter was setting in again and there wasn't time which means this is still something that we will be throwing money at to get fixed properly. To make matters worse, as of the weather breaking recently, we noticed an ENORMOUS deep crack which runs the entire length of the concrete steps Mike replaced. I cannot begin to tell you what a nightmare this has been. If you value your home I advise you not to hire this company to do any work. I read another review on here from a guy Mike did work for saying Mike said the discoloration of his concrete would work itself out. Mike said the same thing to us. I assure you this is not true. Conclusion: A simple job that was supposed to take 1 week had taken an entire year with no end result other than damage... Nightmare. <br />

Excellent!!! We were very pleased with his attention to detail and his work ethic. The fact that he followed up and he continued his excellent service after the job was complete.

We built a beautiful 3 stall 1.5 story detached garage but held off on installing a driveway for sometime. When we only had a gravel drive, our garage would flood during any significant rainfall as the ground slopes toward the garage.  To solve this issue, in addition to proper grading and sloping of the concrete, Mike and his crew installed a trench drain with heavy metal grates outside each stall.  This solved all of our water issues!  The driveway is beautiful and he even took care to make the concrete thicker near the road to accommodate the garbage truck that occasionally pulls onto the driveway a bit to pick up our trash.  The project was completed in a professional and timely manner.  I'm especially particular about cleanliness and the crew was great about cleaning up after themselves.   Everyone involved was pleasant to deal with.  Mike is great about answering questions and explaining things.  He even offered solutions for keeping leaves from clogging my drains! It was great to have a solid driveway to make snow removal easier this winter, and despite the crazy weather we had, the driveway still looks great.  We will not hesitate to call on Westmoreland Concrete Construction for any additional projects.  <br />

We gave Mike [last name removed] and his W.C. crew an outstanding review in September, 2012 because we were very pleased with the porch project. He was supposed to come back to finish some minor adjustments that were agreed upon by both parties, but he never followed through. More importantly, on this past unusually warm 12/24/13, just a little over a year after the project's completion, we were showing someone the porch when we all suddenly noticed that there were multiple cracks that ran the length of the entire porch, halfway between the exterior of the house and the edge of the patio. We sent an email/photos to W.C. on 12/29/13 requesting W.C. visit our property to assess the problem and to advise us as to what they would do to rectify this major flaw in their project. It is an obvious problem with the way in which they poured the concrete because it runs the entire length of the porch through 4 separate sections. Their negative email response, taking absolutely no responsibility for the cracking problem, nor for fixing it, has only added to our being extremely upset about our now ruined $13,000 porch project. They only said they would come back and make recommendations on further work to fix it, at our own expense. We withdraw our previous positive recommendation for their work and highly discourage anyone from considering doing business with them. We had considered having them do an additional driveway reconstruction project, but will absolutely not have them do the work now.

They tore out exisiting sidewalks and steps. They set up the forms and poured new sidewalks and steps. It went very well we are very pleased with the work.  He did a great job, we are happy with the finish.  He was prompt and very professional.

Mike and his team were fantastic!!!  When I met Mike for the estimate I was immediately impressed with his professionalism from appearance to demeanor.  He used a high tech device to get exact measurements of the site.  Within 24 hours he sent me an email estimate that was highly detailed with materials and total cost.  Due to the rainy summer we had and a few challenging customers of his, Mike got behind schedule but continuously contacted me to let me know his progress.  On construction day his crew arrived and very quickly cleared and prepped the site, built rebar and began to pour in the form.  Mike told me that to be safe he doubled the rebar in anticipation for the extremely heavy Swim Spa and he did it no extra charge!!!  My kids wanted to put their handprints in the concrete and Mike enthusiastically had them come out and one of his workers helped the kids put their handprints down, then he put the year above their prints and "framed" the prints in the concrete.  This too was a courtesy.  Mike followed up with me after the Swim Spa arrived and was filled and everything was sound.  It's been a year and a half since installation and it looks as solid as it did when it first dried.  I have some more masonry work I'd like to have done this summer and if I can't do it myself I will definitely be calling Mike!  Completely recommend Westmoreland Concrete Construction 5 stars!!!! <br />

It went extremely well. Mike Savage was very professional and accessible. Because of all the rain <br /> <br /> we had this past summer, there were delays but I was kept abreast of all changes and am very pleased <br /> <br /> with the resulting patio. <br />

We hired WC in mid March 2013.  Mike [Last Name Removed] (owner) provided an estimate for the job.  He seemed professional and easy to work with.  The quote was the second highest we received, so we did not go with the cheapest quote.  We paid WC the initial installment in mid march 2013.  He told us that he could begin work in mid April depending on the weather, and that there were two jobs ahead of us.  WC did not begin work until early June, and that was after I called him.  There is no way WC worked on only two jobs between march and June, even with the rainy weather.  I am certain several jobs were put ahead of us.  They started excavating on a Friday, and had it framed by Monday.  Tuesday and Wednesday were very nice days but no work performed.  Why it could not have been completed that Tues or Weds, I do not know.  Then it rained for several days, and then after at least two weeks of having our lawn torn up, WC poured the concrete in two separate pours.  Now the problems begin.  It seemed that everything was going fine, until we noticed that the first pour did not look anything like the second pour in terms of color.  Mike has said that it will "bleach out," but after 3 months, the two separate slabs do not look anything alike.  I tried to tell Mike this, but he is color blind, and does not seem to see it.  IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD.   Mike said it will take a few months for the colors to match up; I doubt it, but I guess we will see. <br /> Surprisingly, this was not the worst problem.  On the day WC sealed the stamped concrete, one of Mike's workers dropped colored stain (which they were using to color the old concrete porch), and decided to roll it in instead of cleaning it up.  The stamped concrete had this huge brown stain on it.  I saw it later in the day, and called Mike.  To Mike's credit, he did come immediately that night to see it.  His worker lied to him and said nothing was wrong.  He was then fired (I found out later from Mike's step son that he was hired back even though he lied to me and WC).  Mike fixed the problem by using a chemical stripper.  Unfortunately, he had to reseal the entire stamped concrete again.  When he did that (weather forecasts called for storms, so no surprise), it rained a couple of hours later, causing the entire porch to become cloudy.  He hit it again with the chemical stripper and sealer, but there are still several areas that are still cloudy.  That is what happens when something is not done right the first time.  A small problem becomes a bigger problem.  <br /> Now for the biggest problem.  We had paid for an acid stain of the old porch.  Mike talked us into a different product - an oil based topical sealer.  He said it would be better; it was not.  First, he applied an interior stain on my exterior porch, and applied it too many times.  I will give Mike credit for taking responsibility, but unfortunately it took him 6 weeks to figure it out.  WC then had to sandblast the porch to remove the stain.  It took two days and made a huge mess.  Then Mike wanted to put down the same product.  I told him I wanted the acid stain.  He put that down, and it looks great.  Subsequently, Mike put down the sealer on a hot, sunny day, causing numerous bubbles.  These bubbles have left numerous white pot marks on the concrete surface, which Mike cannot get out.  I truly believe he puts the sealer on too think.  It does not look bad, but it does not look good either.  I have decided to finish the job myself, and will be putting the chemical stripper on when  it gets cooler. <br /> As a side note, in possibly July, I spoke with Mike's step son, who made several promises to me in terms of compensation and how this project would be completed.  He also told me that Mike was having some personal problems, and that if I had a problem to call him.  I called him twice, and he never called me back.  Later I talked to Mike, and he told me that his step son was wrong, and that he had no authority to make any promises of compensation.  I told Mike that his step son would no longer be welcome at my house.  In August, I received a threatening phone call from a person claiming to be Nathan Thorn, Mike's step son.  I called the police and WC (leaving a message)  The next day, no one from WC called me until the afternoon.  Nathan Thorn claimed a friend left a prank phone message.  Even if that is true, WC did not protect my personal information at all, allowing it to be used to scare me and my family.  And you would think that a phone call first thing in the morning would be in order.  Not until mid afternoon did they call.  Not very professional. <br /> We had high expectations with WC.  They came with good references.  I paid a lot of money for stress and poor workmanship.  There was no attention to detail.  And if the two stamped concrete slabs do not start bleaching out, I will have a porch with three different colors (old porch and each slab).  I guess I will know by spring.  It is now September 9, 2013, almost 6 months after hiring WC, and the job is finally finished, but not to our satisfaction.  Mike is a nice guy but this is business.  He did stick around to try and fix his mistakes, but too many mistakes were made.  And once I paid them the full amount of money in June,  there was no urgency to complete this project.  And that is why I am writing this review in September.   <br /> A project like this should have been completed, at the latest, by May.  We lost our porch for the whole summer.  Overall, a horrible experience.  I cannot recommend WC to anyone.

Their quote was even higher than the other company that gave a high price but they were very professional, knowledgeable and very responsive in providing an estimate.

Mike and his crew did all of the preliminary work on 6/28/2013.  The actual pouring of the concrete has been delayed due to all of the rain we've been having.  They were very professional and polite.  They cleaned up everything when done including power washing the mud off of the driveway and street..  I would definitely hire them again.

I was highly impressed with Mike and his company.  He was prompt and professional.  His bid was VERY reasonable.   <br /> Beings how I was not in a big hurry I told Mike he could come pour the floor on a rain day as it will be inside and he cold use the sunny days for any other outside work he had. He seemed to appreciate that.  Mike called me and told me what day he would be there.  They showed up on time (a little early actually) the whole crew was professional. They did exactly as they said they would.  I paid mike in full and trusted he would come back to do the relief cuts.  Just as he promised he had a crew come back and do the relief cuts. The floor is well beyond what I was expecting.   I would HIGHLY recommend Westmoreland Concrete to anyone who needs some cement work.

From initial contact, estimating, scheduling, actual work everything went fine. As I noted in rating blocks the owner (Mike) was easy to talk to, professional, and responsive. He and his crew were friendly and courteous. They did a great job and we are very pleased. <br />
