The attention to detail and timeliness for completion was terrible. They did not complete the work outlined in our agreement and they completely wreck my driveway and my yard in several places and then would not fix or repair the damage they did while resurfacing my patios. I advise you do not use this company.

Owner Jason Dengler made some suggestions to help us achieve our stated purpose for the plantings.   We have been very pleased with the plantings/tree they installed and the professionalism of the job.   We are very happy with the quality of the mulch they used in our gardens.  We used to have a huge problem with weeds in our garden/tree beds.  They cleaned up all the beds and installed a leaf mulch (as opposed to wood chip) which seems to have helped reduce the amount of weeds substantially.  They also help us trim our fence and yard throughout the growing season.  The service they provide is reliable, professional and thorough. They are always responsive to any questions or inquiries. <br />

Jason and his team were great from start to finish. Jason knows the area and knows what works and where to plant things based on the area. We loved that he was in touch with our location and what would work well there. His master designs are all by hand and really take into account the unique aspects of the property that he's working with. He did a great job thinking about how we would use the property and how it would look from all the vantage points we'd interact with the elements he would be installing. <br /> He came out to the property multiple times to help talk us through the plans and narrow down what we wanted to start with. He was way more patient with us than he needed to be and entertained the 1000's of questions I had for him which was very much appreciated. It's also the reason why we will use him again in the future.  <br /> Weather pushed back the project a couple of weeks but they estimated 2 weeks and finished in just over a week. Kept us in the loop the whole time.  <br /> Stone work on the columns looks amazing, helped us track down bluestone for our front columns and they did a really great job. Literally about 3ft of column under the ground cemented in and built up in a painstaking way to make sure that they will last. <br /> Patio looks fantastic. Anyone can put pavers down, they took the time to do it right and build up the base with layers of gravel and sand, compacted down, underlayment and all the things you'd want to do to make sure the patio will stay there and look good for years to come. <br /> Workers were all professional and did a great job.  <br /> Really happy with Jason and his team, looking forward to using them again in the future for the rest of our vision for the property. <br />

They were fine.

Working with Jason, the owner, has been an absolutely wonderful experience for me.  It was the first time I had the occasion to ask the help of a professional landscaper and has left me with a fantastic first impression.  <br /> I had interviewed other landscape designers and none came even close to Jason's creativity and responsiveness.  <br /> From the very first meeting with Jason, I was assured that he had not only listened to me, but actually was able to visualize and "get" what I was hoping for at the end of each project.  You can't beat that!  <br /> I could frame the lovely drawing that Jason gave me regarding his design for my particular needs and wants.  It is beautifully drawn and easy to understand.  Perfect for me! <br /> Jason stood behind his company and warranty of work without question also.  Sadly missing in some others... <br /> The crews that worked under Jason's supervision were all very courteous, helpful and skilled.  The "on sight" supervision that Jacob and David did was very good as well.  They did a great job of interfacing with me;  were patient and able to explain details of the process to help with my understanding and comfort. <br /> I would, without hesitation, refer anyone to Wildwood Landscaping.

Wildwood provided a detailed and professional landscape plan for our yard including mulch beds, plants, a path and an in-ground trampoline.   They were punctual and the quality of plants and workmanship were outstanding.  The cost was competitive with other quotes.  They have since done work for a neighbor who is equally satisfied with Wildwood's work

They were great with the design and great coming out. I'm not happy with the sidewalk they put in. We started last fall with them because we wanted something completed by June of this past year and They've stopped returning our calls. Up until we told them we were unpleased with part of it, it took probably two months for him to return my calls. He came out once. It wasn't until I stopped by on a busy Saturday and told somebody else there how unhappy we were in front of customers that we got a response. He finally came out again, gave us two options, one was going to add another $5,000 to the budget, we decided what we would have them do and he has just now again stopped returning our calls. I'm not happy. I wouldn't recommend them and it was unfortunate; he's a nice guy, his design was great, he was great to work with and we kept up the payments, now I will say that the final payment of $1900, we've never made to them. He went on and on about it being it was a rough winter and he didn't demand the payment from us even though he had jobs to do. They did a couple of extra things for us; we wanted to re-purpose some bushes, they replanted those but that was part of the deal with them. As soon as we had a problem, the finish on the front of the house, it looks terrible and his comment to us was he thought it looked great. He's local, we wanted to stay with a local company. The sidewalk is stained and the stain as my husband said, "it looks like the floor of his grandmother's garage years ago after keeping cars for years and you get oil stains and mess." It's not attractive at all. We were recommending them to neighbors before the issue came up.

The majority of what they did we really liked.

We asked for a drawing but never received one but went ahead with the project anyway.  We never saw Jason after we agreed to the project and the down payment.  Work started in July and we made the final payment (holding off till they returned to redo some work) in November 2013. We worked with one of his "supervisors".  The drains look more commercial than private residence.  We had him return two times after rains as we continued with erosion problems.  We suggested a couple fixes that he employed to assist with water re-direction.  They cut 3-4 feet off two downspouts and replaced one with non-matching downspout material and the other with PVC pipe with a big orange mark on it (I have pictures) that we had them replace with clean PVC.  We had them redo the grout around the drain at our driveway - it still looks unprofessional.   We are now contacting others to provide estimates to minimize the look of their work through landscaping and upgrading a previously installed drystream.

Jason is a very creative landscape designer.  I would recommend to only use him as your designer and not actually for the implementation because there is a disconnect from what Jason designs and what is communicated about the job to his crew.  There were many problems with the install which included prices going up because the Jason did not factor all parts of the project in his estimate and because parts of the job had to redone because of poor communication between designer and crew.  Luckily, one of us was home most days and we could catch most things that weren't being done according to the plan. <br /> The Wildwood crew was always punctual and worked extremely hard.  I was extremely impressed with the crew.  My issue was not with them it was with Jason and his staff.   <br /> The first problem was when the walkway was being created.  It was  suppose to be a meadering walkway from the garage to the patio and it would pass the waterfall and koi pond.  There was no meandering walk, it ended up being a staircase of about 8 steps.  We asked what happened and were told that the woman who came out to survey for Jason made a mistake.  Her mistake was a big one because now we had a staircase that if someone tripped, s/he could take a header into the boulders and or into the pond.  We were adamant that a railing had to go in.  Jason did not want to do that because it would take away from his design. ( We couldn't believe this reaction by him.)   We explained that his design changed when this staircase was put in instead of the walkway. We were emphatic that a railing had to be added for the safety of our children, our aging parents, and friends who may come over and have a drink or two.  Finally, Jason conceded to the railing, but there was an extra expense for us.  <br /> The next problem for the crew was that no one communicated effectively to them about the trenches that had to be dug for both electrical and gas.  This crew dug one trench for electrical, but it ended up being only for 2 of the 3 things that needed electrical.  Unfortunately,  the patio was placed on top of the trench when the mistake was caught.   Because of this oops the poor crew had to build an additional trench that went all the way to the front of our house.  I hated that these guys who did all the grunt work had to do extra because of miscommunication from the bosses. <br /> Our fire pit was also a problem.  It was built too low.  It was only one level high of stone.  We had to have them add a second course of stone to prevent children and adults from possibly tripping into it and getting burned. <br /> The retaining wall and front walk went in smoothly for the most part.  There were some issue with the electrical outlets that were suppose to be installed on the wall which ended up costing us more money.  I had also planned for another landscaper to landscape the front, but Jason whined about having someone else finishing his work.  We gave in.  Shame on us. <br /> The biggest problem with the entire project was the landscaping and part of it was because the crew didn't know what to do because of lack of supervision/communication; another was the plant selection itself; and the final was how plants were planted.  We had 2 large trees that were to be moved and replanted.  Both had to be moved again upon our return from vacation because they were planted in the wrong place.    Much of what was planted was not part of the original design.  Since it was August, I think pickings were slim from Wildwood's supplier and we got whatever was available at the time.  There is still one tree that was planted in the front that not one landscaper can tell me its name.  Many of the shrubs and perennials did not survive the first 8 months because of how and  when they were planted.  We had asked Jason to wait until September when it was cooler to plant and transplant.  Jason told us no because he likes to finish a job before going on to the next one, so everything was planted in August while we were on vacation.    I think if he had waited, the plants would have had a better chance of survival since the plants were planted with many of the root balls exposed and got baked.  Also, some of the plants that were planted were planted in the wrong exposure.  One example are  the coral bells that were planted in the front which gets full afternoon sun.  They like shade.  I questioned this and was told they were a new variety that would do fine in the sun.  These poor plants struggled.  It wasn't until I moved them to the back where it is shaded that they thrived. <br /> The following Spring,  I had Jason come out and ask him what he was going to do about the dead landscaping which included trees, shrubs, and perennials.  He  told me he could not afford to replace everything, so I had him replace trees and shrubs.  I was stuck with replacing the perennials.  It was then that  I discovered what  led to the death of many plants under our deck.  They were all planted on top of weed block that was left over from when the builder had done some landscaping in the same area.  The roots of the plants had no where to grow.  I did point this out to Jason.  There was no compensation.  <br /> Shortly after the project was done, Jason asked to come back to take pictures of our backyard to add to his portfolio.  We agreed.  He staged the patio which included a huge fire in our fire pit.  The fire was so big that sparks were shooting out of it and landing on our brand new patio furniture melting the cushions and leaving holes in them.  Jason did finally agree to replace the cushions, but that is just one more example of bad judgment and just not thinking. <br /> The final complaint that I have is with the office staff.  As different parts of the job were completed, we always paid the the installment that was due quite promptly.  When the job was complete in WIldwood's eyes, but not in ours, I get a very nasty phone call from Polly.  She demanded the final payment and I had to expalin to her that the final payment would be given when all parts of the project were completed to our satisfaction.  I knew once I paid for everything I would have no further leverage with WIldwood which proved true when I tried to get them to replace plants that they planted incorrectly and died. <br />

Wildwood was prompt to come out, draw up a design, make suggestions for pavers and bushes/flowers. Their quote was a bit more expensive than two other places we investigated, but we liked their suggestions and professionalism. <br /> From beginning to end, they kept the work area neat and tidy. We were away from home for the last 3 days of the project and were very excited when we returned and saw the finished product. <br /> We would definitely use them again.

We sought three estimates and designs.  Jason, the owner of Wildwood, came to give the design and estimate. His design was the most creative, using the best use of space, the largest and the least expensive of the previous designs.  <br /> Mark, from Wildwood, supervised the project.  Jason, Mark and all the workers were very pleasant to work with from start to finish.  All questions were answered thoroughly, patiently and were (surprisingly) welcomed!  I asked for a change in the stone that they planned to use in the steps.  Mark pleasantly and easily helped me select another stone.  They relocated two large Azaleas in the process-big bonus for us and cleaned up every day before they left.   The final day, they mulched our garden and put down grass seed and hay along the side of our house!  We didn't ask them to do that, and they did this free of charge due to being two days off schedule due to heavy rain!  <br /> We couldn't be move pleased! Our patio is gorgeous!  We highly recommend Wildwood for your next project.

This is the same info from the Description area -  <br /> <br /> My husband and I are embarking on an ambitious front and backyard landscape and hardscape build.  We just moved into a new home on 15 acres last July and have a completely blank slate.  We met with several contractors to help us with our initial design and I have to say Jason Dengler and his team were the only ones who not only listened to our likes and dislikes but provided very good and sound suggestions to help us craft our ultimate dream on paper.  Jason didn't regurgitate our desires, he was smart and experienced enough to take our style of home and our community into account and design a plan that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also flowed beautifully and made practical usage sense.  He was not afraid to interject his opinion and challenge us on our design ideas - so crucial for the size of work we need done.  We haven't begun building yet, so this review is purely for Jason's Master Plan that he spent many hours working on with us.  He's worth every penny from this standpoint and I can't wait to work with his team further.  If you've ever doubted paying for an architectural plan before implementing a significant outdoor change, call Jason and meet with him.  Years ago at another property, my husband and I were badly burned by a design company based out in Haymarket called Land & Water Design.  The cost and end result were a major disappointment and after everything was built, we ended up having to pay another company to fix design flaws.   I'd completely sworn off this type of service until I got Jason's collateral in my mailbox and had my initial meeting with him.  He'll not only design for a very reasonable fee, but also create a bid sheet for other contractors so that you can compare everything apples to apples.  I'm really looking forward to working with Wildwood this year.

We’ve been implementing their plan in stages. They’ve come up with an innovative design, and I really like that they don’t take a cookie cutter approach.  Jason, the owner, has a very creative and artistic eye. He understands how to use local plants and that unique, fun, and practical way.  He really considers every last detail when creating a design plan.

Bottom line first: The neighbors keep stopping to look and compliment our front walk asking to see the back yard- Their jaws drop as they tell us we live in paradise. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The crew from Wildwood was consistent.  The same crew every day.  They always arrived early, worked late and the job site was always neat and orderly.  They worked fast and hard and did an excellent job.  During the construction, the owner showed up numerous times to check progress and ensure the job was not only to our satisfaction but to his high expectations as well.  It became clear that was putting his reputation in the hands of his employees and they upheld it.  The supervisor was onsite daily, often multiple times during the day to evaluate the work and make changes to the design as needed. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We have now completed phase 1 of our project and are enjoying the new paver walkways and patio areas. They were the general contractor of the project and did an excellent job. It was a complete custom design and not an easy project as it was on a slope. They were very professional and worked under horrible weather conditions. It was a 4 month project and they never complained and came day after day until it was done. They put a lot of people on the project and the end result was absolutely beautiful. They had to build 4 retaining walls and they had to work through a lot of bedrock. They put in a 50 foot slide which he had never done before. They did everything right and I can't say enough about them. I would highly recommend this company and we are currently using them to maintain our plants, shrubs and weed control throughout the year.

Wildwood is an absolutely outstanding business to work with. I have never found any landscape company as talented, knowledgeable, and customer oriented as Wildwood. Jason Dengler is an artist in his own right. He designed everything from our patio, landscaping, pool and yard lighting. He worked with me to stay in my budget and provided the design that is the envy of our neighborhood. I’ve never seen a yard or park as nice as ours (all within my budget). Polly is an outstanding horticulturist. She made sure all our plants complimented each other and then made sure al of them stayed healthy. Mark is a true craftsman making sure all our walls, and lights looked beautiful and worked like a charm. I was so impressed with Wildwoods customer service and care that I now have as my yard service. They are very reasonable and keep my yard and plants looking like a resort. Wildwood is the best I have ever seen as a contractor or yard service. You can’t go wrong with them. They are really the best of the best. They treat you like family and now I would not use anyone else.

They had won Lorton?s Best Landscaping Company award. We had seen their display at the garden show in Leesburg for several years and we had always liked the design concepts that they came up with for that show. When we went to get someone to help us put together a 5-year plan kind of thing, for what we were going to do with the landscaping around the house, we went to them first. They provided concept drawings and gave us lots of time to think about things. They were willing to change it several times for us as we came up with inputs to the design. It was a collaborative process in coming up with what the final design work was going be. They were really helpful in designing the project. We had somebody else come to do the pool - the person that worked with them exclusively would only do a cement pool, and I didn?t want to go to that expense. I was fabulously happy with the product that we got at the end. They were great. The actual installation took about 8 or 9 weeks but we mulled over designs and went back and forth for probably a year before we got started. They were pricey, and that was because they wanted to work with the highest quality products. We used natural fieldstone - they call them tumbled pavers. The patio is pavers but the retaining wall is built with a natural stone that matched the tumbled pavers. It is beautiful, and I can?t wait for the lushness of what I?ve planted to grow in for the spring. In terms of punctuality, the worker was good but the designer was horribly late all the time. I intend to use them to help me plant some trees and stuff, and do some of the larger landscaping that I can?t do myself.
