"Wind Chime Nursery feels that the "C" grade for price is not correct. First, the customer indicated that she had shopped prices for her project before accepting our bid. And when she accepted our bid she said Wind Chime was the only one competent enough to do this kind of work. In most situations Wind Chime Nursery's prices are below our competitors. This project involved clearing land, planting and building a rain garden. We built the rain garden based upon what the customer asked us to do - not on what we recommended. This landscape job was for an area of land that is 1/4 acre or 12,000 square feet. The materials requested for the project were: 1. 5 bushes with protective tomato cages 2. 3 trees 3. 400 bales of pine needles 4. Pick-up size load of grapefruit to golf ball size rocks 5. 3 loads of topsoil 6. Potting soil for the Rain Garden that included a good growing media comprised of aged pine bark, sand and native soil 7. Round Up sprayed by a licensed landscape company 8. Truck load of mulch The labor portion of the project was: 1. The land had to be cleared of poison ivy and briars 2. Pull vines off a house 3. Build a 10 ft x 20 ft rain garden dug by hand as not to disturb the area (A rain garden is a planted depression or a hole that allows rainwater runoff from parking lots and compacted lawn areas) 4. Plant 3 trees 5. Plant 5 bushes 4. Spread 3 loads of top soil 5. Lay 400 bales of pine needles 6. Haul off 2 truckloads of debris 7. Complete the project without disturbing the Bee hives on this property On the second "C" grade given for punctuality because our crew was not present when she opened the gate for this property we must argue that the City Of Mount Airy prevented our crew from reaching this destination. The 2017 Autumn Leaves Festival sponsored by The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce occurred the day we arrived and we were as close as we could get at the designated time. The City of Mount Airy had blocked off streets from traffic and one of these streets was the [Member Information Removed] where the 1/4 acre project was located. Our crew explained to the festival person preventing our entry that we needed to unload materials for a landscaping project but they refused to let us access the [Member Information Removed]. We understand why this customer was upset because her unlocking the gate had to be done in the early morning and she had to walk a block from her house but we were not at fault."
"The Angie's List offer for this customer was two men for 2 hours work for $199.00. The work requested by the customer was to first saw down two bushes that were 8 feet by 8 feet large and to saw down a third bush that was 3 feet by 3 feet. The second part of the work was to saw the bushes into manageable pieces. The third part of the work was cleaning and blowing the work area and the walks. This work was completed in 4 man hours. Hauling the wood off the property was not included in the $199.00 Angie's List offer. Hauling the wood off the property was quoted to the customer as a separate job and before the Angie's List work was contracted. The customer was given two options on what to do with the remaining sawed up bushes. The first option was that we pile the cut up bushes in her yard for her to dispose of. The second option was that we load all the cut up bushes onto our truck, haul to a dump facility that was a one hour [Member Information Removed] from the customer for an additional $120.00. This included the dump fee charged by the dump facility. The customer chose option two and agreed to the additional $120.00."
"We did work for her 4 years ago and she was aware of our plant guarantee. Wind Chime Nursery plant guarantee has changed in 4 years. We now guarantee the plants we plant in our customers yard for 1 year if they follow our plant care recommendation and notify Wind Chime Nursery of any problems ."
